I'm a fairly new player and I've only played with my Frenchies a single time. I'm playing in an escalation league in a couple weeks and I figure it's the perfect time to get familiar with my new sectorial. I realize Limited Insertion isn't Ariadna's cup of tea, but the league is 75% Limited Insertion. Here is the schedule...

Week 1: 200 points, 4 SWC, Limited Insertion, No TAGS. Mission: Frontline
Week 2: 250 points, 5 SWC, Limited Insertion. Mission: Firefight
Week 3: 300 points, 6 SWC, Limited Insertion, Mission: Unmasking
Week 4: 300 points, 6 SWC, Two Combat Group Limit. Mission: Frontline, Firefight, or Unmasking (choice)

As you can see, only Week 4 is non-Limited Insertion. I'll probably need to play way above my ability to win anything in Limited Insertion but I figure it will be more fun to try and lose with the FRRM than not to. This is where you come in. Any help from more seasoned players is much appreciated!

Here are two 200 point lists of my own devising and some short notes about each:

This one is a bunch of individuals. It might have enough firepower, it might not. Thoughts?

One more list, again 200 points, 4 SWC. This one runs a core fireteam:

so 200 and 250 are probably going to be pretty easy to do, three hundred gets a bit more tricky your two lists look pretty good but here are a couple of fun ones to consider:

[IMG] Force de Réponse Rapide Merovingienne

otherwise i must say i'm very pleased with all the FRRM players that appear to be coming out of the woodwork, and using the proper abbreviation as well.

One piece of advice I'll give you is don't feel compelled to spend all your points if you're confident you've taken the most efficient team for the job. I did ok at the LVO with lists that were in the 285 point range on LI day.

    A couple questions...

    1. Frontline has 1 Classified Objective. Should I bring a paramedic along just in case?
    2. I see a lot of Forward Observers in people's lists. Outside of being a specialists, am I missing what they are that useful for?

    Thanks in advance.

    1. Don't build your lists around classified objectives. That's just one point in most cases and you can always replace your objective with secure HVT. The Paramedic option to heal a wounded friendly trooper is also the most unreliable one for Ariadna because your chance to succeed is usually around 50% and you have no option to reroll. Focussing on the actual mission is a much better approach.
    2. They are our cheapest specialist option and our Skirmishers (our main button pushers) can only be FOs. FOs also give Ariadna and especially the FRRM a lot of punch when combined with guided/speculative firing Muls. Even in direct action missions I try to include two FOs and a Katyusha to crack linkteams and HI.

I think I like your second list better for the Frontline mission. In your first list you got four models in your deployment zone and no link team. It would cost you quite a few orders (or command tokens in case of Coordinated Orders) to let them advance and secure the sectors. While your second list has six models starting in your deployment zone, five of them are in a link team and can advance pretty easy. The Zouaves can start in an advanced position, but be careful not to place them out in the open or they will be easy pickings. You could use the Chasseur to cover them, especially if your opponet got first turn and your HMG Zouave is not yet in Suppression Fire.

Aside from the points @Commoner1 mentioned, the Forward Observers have access to the Flash Pulse, which has a better range than a standard rifle and, due to being a Technical Weapon, it uses the models WIP atribute, which is a bit higher than your BS in case of the FRRM. This might give you better chances in ARO.

Good luck for your upcoming games.

    Cheers

Wow, you guys are crazy helpful. Thank you! Here is the list I'm strongly considering running... it doesn't run Forward Observers, but only because it's a very offensive list for the 200 point FRONTLINE game. After that, I'm going to mix things up a bit. Also, I have a Traktor Mul and Dozer on the way for those options with the FOs later.

Looks like you are headed down one of the many good paths in playing the French. One thing that you might try fiddling with in a FO heavy list is taking the LGL Zouave. Starting halfway up the board puts them nearly in good range for the LGL and with all the FOs you can target and start spec firing at +3s at worst or +6 if they are in the good band, with little or no retaliation. Doesnt force you to take a dozer or hackable REMs and cost you 12 points less while still allowing you to do what you wanted to do in the first place. Maybe it wont work for you but I have had some very good success with a similar setup lately though with more orders (maybe give it a try for your last week).

Also one thing I have been loving lately is the Infiltrating Moblots with E/Maulers. I keep it in reserve and if I am facing a lot of REMs or HI or a TAG I counter deploy and use the E/Maulers to either fear them into being very cautious or force them to expend lots of orders into removing the E/Maulers. I had one very successful game lately against Military Orders using this strategy. Again maybe it doesn't jive with your play style but keep it in mind.

If you do end up playing Duroc and Margot remember this. He blocks sight to her. So he comes in first turn unless he gets a shit ton of AROs he should be fine. Then bring on Margot right behind him and have her spec fire her LGL (not generating AROs because sight blocked) until its safe to push out.

There are a lot of options out there and no terribly wrong way to play.

Thanks again for the help so far, guys. Tonight is the big night - first night of the league. 200 points, Limited Insertion, no TAGs. From all of your insight, this is what I'm thinking of using... keep in mind that we're playing FRONTLINE, so it's all about dominating zones. I plan on using my Classified Objective as a INTELCOM card to add extra strength to a zone at end game.

I won't lie, it hurts to not use Margot and Duroc, but at 200 points they are pretty hard to bring in and feel like I still have enough options to get the job done. Then again, that's probably just inexperience talking. So, here's what I see...

In a shooty game, bringing Loup-Garou seem like a good idea. I also like the idea of hopefully locking down some middle of the table board areas thanks to the Zouave HGM Sapper. Hopefully I get to go first and drop him in suppression. Two Minelayers are nice and again, help me dominate that center zone with fire and camo. Last, but certainly not least, is the Lieutenant who, thanks to his x-visor and Molotok, is no joke.

To me, this list lacks the Advanced Deployment tricks that would help me dominate the zone in the enemy deployment, but honestly, holding that zone would be a tall order anyway. Thoughts?

As long as you're including some Chasseurs, you're giving yourself a decent midfield presence, regardless of what else is in the list.

I think these lists all look fine. I also think there's no reason you shouldn't run 10 Orders as well... That extra Order helps a lot.

Other than that, I think you've got fine lists and a good grasp of what to play at these point levels.

For the future, consider adding Briscards to the mix. They're very good in this sort of Limited Insertion, take-all-comers Escalation League environment because they're so diverse. They can do button pushing, zone dominating, attack defense, etc. Also, there are some threats out there that can only really be tackled by Briscards.

It's the 10 orders I'm struggling with the most. After adding a link team and 3-4 Chasseurs, there's only enough points left over for a cheap Metro and a Warcors. So, I end up with 9 Regular and 1 Irregular Order at most.

Your list looks pretty solid to me. You've got a strong Link which should be able to deal with most threats being thrown at it. The Chasseurs and the Zouave can secure the middle of the table, enabling your Loups to advance in relative safety. I really like Bruant as a LT, his Limited Camo giving him a little safety net, but once he's revealed you have to be careful with him, he dies pretty easy when your opponent can get him into LOF.

The only thing I would change ist to take two Loups with Adhesive Launcher, but that's just personal preference because of them saving my bacon more than once.

Good luck with your game and let us know the results.

The target must make a PH-6 roll for every hit suffered with the ADHL. Should they fail a roll, they go into the Immobilized 2 state, which means the can't move or attack and only an Engineer can reverse this state.
    http://infinitythewiki.com/de/Adhesive_(ADH)_Special_Ammunition

I really like it in a Link, when you get two shots per Model (normal Burst is 1). Combined with the X-Visor they make for a great ARO weapon, even at range, against targets which normally don't care about Viral Ammo, like models with Bioimmunity or have a really high BTS (or ARM when using the Boarding Shotgun or Sniper Rifle)

adhesive just stickes them in place. I would never take more than one if its in a fireteam. I would stick with as much viral as you can take since it is darn good and I think killing pieces is going to be more useful than sticking them especially zone domination. Other that your list looks good. I fiddled with a list that would REALLY dominate the middle zone and allow you to press the far zone depending on the opponent. But I think you should stick with your list as you seem to have a good grip on what its supposed to to and how it is supposed to work.

Good luck in your game! Teach them to fear the FRRM!

We finished the first game of League play. I played against Bakunin.

After ridiculously lucky Armor rolls on my end, we tied 4-4.

It was fun, but seriously, I got super lucky. I passed 7 Armor rolls in a row on the first turn and another 5 in the second before I lost a Loup-Garou.

    Some things I learned...

In a mission like FRONTLINE, Loup-Garou aren't the ideal link team. I needed to be able to push up towards the enemy's half of the field. The Loup-Garou's Viral Rifles, while deadly, don't like the 0-8 range band. Yes, they have X-Visors, but they aren't getting bonuses at short distances outside of link bonuses. I think next time I use Briscards instead for the Marksman Rifles.

The game I played last night was against Bakunin and I ended up shooting primarily big bad bots, so the Viral wasn't really a threat. That said, thanks to lucky rolls I held my own with the Loup-Garou link, but I'll be switching it up for similar missions in the future.
