I am super bummed about this. How many winning lists have we seen Tarik in? He's obviously a great piece, but how do we think a nerf would look? And why would a nerf be needed? First, keep in mind it is a temporary effect. Second, two high-profile models of this character are currently available, one of them very recent (it Spitfire Tarik, in Beyond Red Veil pack). I assume he's taking a redo as a profile in the upcoming handbook (Uprising) to put him more in line with ordinary Khawarij. Which would be needed to let him operate in a Fireteam with them (something that was announced years ago). Having a 6-4 Superjump model in a team of 4-4 Superjumpers would be pretty frustrating, I guess... So, do not wail, do not mourn him, o brothers. Amir Mansuri is not dead, merely pulled off the front line, and likely having some well-deserved R&R under a caring eye of an entire battalion of Odalisques*. * provided they don't get too jealous of each other, otherwise the Odalisque Regiment would be likely to take some serious and lamentable losses. So, for the time being, let him enjoy rahat al-hulqum, well-made mint tea, adequately seasoned shisha, hot hammam, fine poetry and graceful company. Apart from the Yu Jing character, these all seem to be ones that need a little buff. So either Tarik gets another buff or the finally saw the error in their ways with FAT 2 and change that. How long does the next challenge last? 2 months maybe? Its a quite a bummer, since I wanted to use him in our league, but well I can live without him for 2 months. Yasbir would have been a better choice tough...
I do definitely agree that Yasbir does need some attention from the game designers. Whether he would've been a better choice, I can't tell. I guess CB did chose him to make an impression on us. To mkae us feel something important is going on. Tarik is, after all, a high-profile entry in our army lists.
A lot of people me included realy hoped for a Yasbir remake. Given new sectorial releases maybe Tarik remake makes sence to make him ready for linkteams. Sadly I think CB only has a spotlight on one point of a fraction they are working on at the moment and ignoring the fraction as a whole.
Maybe its really just a story reason, why he got chosen. It seems really strange, that Captain Haqqislam himself should be conspiring with the CA. That would be a huuuuuge surprise, since Tunguska is due in June. They dont need to take it away, just change it. But I would happily give it away for Hyper Dynamics or NBW for instance.
Any remake for Yasbir would have happened with the Uprising update of all the Dire Foes. As far as buffs and nerfs of 'banned' characters go, as far as I'm aware this is currently a case of Chinese Whispers, nobody seems to have found a CB staff member saying it.
As brought up in another thread, I find it very odd that they are banning a character that new players were told to purchase. How will they use their Red Veil and Beyond now that Tarik is removed? Seems a bit silly.
Sure, that's exactly what I'll do. What about a brand new player who just committed to their second purchase?
With all respect it`s temporary measure and I think TO will allow brand-new player that only have Red Veil and Beyond Red Veil and also want to go with these only miniatures to ITS tournament bring Tarik. Oh, and also it`s temporary measure.
I think more and more about 20x20 events without 3-turn limit and scheduled in more relaxing way.This would shift list-building to more safe measures, plan B-C-D, more healing/repair crews etc.
