So I'm not 100% sure how these are supposed to be placed or what their dimensions are. Seems like a dumb question but here I am.

Where is the blast focus for a circular template? Is it anywhere in the silhouette of the target centered over the base or at the base level itself? Does the height of the template only go up or is it a 3d Sphere (placing a template to make an X). Teardrop templates seem very clear on how you are allowed to place them but Circular are not.

Place the blast focus (absolute center of the template) at the central line of the silhouette (any height within the silhouette).

Following up on the height side of the question. Is a circular template a half sphere of full sphere? With smoke and infinite height does that height include going down the full size of the template or just a half sphere?

    Circular template is a sphere.

Smoke emanates from the blast focus, you have to be able to trace LoF from the blast focus to the model for them to be in smoke this makes it very unlikely to go down as smoke has to be placed on a surface.
