Sorry, I am new here and if this is the wrong thread, please forgive me. I had just started with Infinity, but I have already two questions: 1. Are there any campaign rules? I had download all the English files, but couldn't find any within these pdf. 2. Where could I found some background information about the different factions? None of the pdf seems to give 'real' background.
For the next best thing to Campaign Rules you´ll need the Campaign:Paradiso book, even though its´just a short series of Mission linked together by narrative, an xp gain system for your spec ops charakter and outdated as it was a N2 release. Fluff is kept out of the free PDFs, so if you want to read something more than the unit backround blurps in the online store of CB (who are not bad, just very much of the same propagande) you´ll have to by the books for Infinity or for even more background the RPG books from modiphius.
There's a great deal of background information on all the factions, their history, interactions and setting and plenty of accompanying art work in the Core books that are packaged together with the rule books: Infinity N3 and Human Sphere. The N3 Core book gives a solid introduction to the Infinity universe but isn't comprehensive, whereas Human Sphere Core has a lot of detailed background and is a really beautiful book. (On the other hand, the Infinity N3 Rulebook is pretty essential reading and definitely helps understanding of how the game works.) It's probably worth saying that whilst the books are enjoyable, the use of English is peculiar and not native-speaker standard - I presume all their books read a lot better in the designers' native Spanish. There's also the Human Sphere website (https://human-sphere.com) which is very good, but a bit of a puzzle to me. Entries appear to contain copy from the Core books with slightly different grammar but identical meaning. I don't know what the legality or status of the site is - perhaps someone else on the forums can comment?
Thanks for the reply! My problem with the books is/was, when open the entry in the store, there no hint what it in the background book. I mean it could contain only some background for the different units, but nothing about the history or societies of the different factions. Any idea where I could get this Paradiso book? No one seems posses it anymore here in Berlin.
Hi Karthor and welcome to the Infinity community. The Paradiso campaign book that was released years ago is probably out of print now, but you will find copies of for sale on Ebay and select online store may have some copies left. I would recommend finding a cheap second hand copy for now as CB will be undoubtedly re releasing the campaign book at some stage in the not to distant future with the N3 update.
Thanks all for your help! I think my next purchase will be the N3 books, and after this the HS books! And then hoping that Corvus will release some new (or old) campaign rules. Btw English books are not a problem. I am relative fluent in English (for a German ), at least with reading and writing. While speaking I still posses the typical German accent! (Must be a side effect of speaking English after speaking our elegant and melodic language for life )
