I would not go so far. But the are too expensive. Yes we talk about a kind of luxery product in a niche but still 60,- € is a lot of money for a book. If it helps make them softcover (and leave out the painting guide ;-). For this amount of money expect more. For example a full campaign in Paradiso style. But this is not the way Spec Ops work now. The fluff did not expire it evolved forward. The rules yeah, but they are fully digital since N5. I think 40K years in the future has more books that went useless after a few years ;-)
With all due respect: I don't think I have played anything GW in a quarter of a century. Or close to that score. And never 40K. So I can't even claim it is apples to oranges: for me, it is apples to null ;)
I did not expect Yadu redesign either. While the old HMG is tiny like an combi (modern YJ SMG are bigger) and could use a new model, all others are fine. Now reducing the sulpts two HMG and DIsco/Dropbear and a akward Shakti. This will be a box of three and the Shakti resculpt, that is the opposite of her current look will be the reason, that I will not buy the box. The pose is lend from Eudoros (who actualy can CC) and totaly unnecessary in my PoV. And what is that on hear head? Feathers? Anime-Hair? Sry but her new look is a no go for me.
Damn, Shakti looks like someone who is yellingly assaulting you from the dark corner of a dumpster because you touched her shopping trolley, probably accompanied by a rabid racoon. Also Yadus without their "tunics" look so suuuper generic. Random Sci-Fi guys with helmets and pouches. Standard Yadu is also easy to confuse with the Epsilon (and the almost identical pose helps with that confusion).
I'm glad I got the old ones even though they were hell to put together. I actually like the new Shakti figure but not as Shakti. She would make a great Spec Op, Hippolyta, Dart. It looks like the Mk12 on the back is seperate. Wow the face on the Chandra is a bit...yikes didn't get enough sleep i guess. The Nomad ok but I think the Ariadna is pretty cool. The spec/speed balls look great and can be used for objectives as well. It's about time they came out with mines and such. They look great to me. The price seems reasonable as well. Edit: added new figure releases. Figure Release up to October 2026 Aleph: 9 Release, 21 Figures (K2 Auxiliars, Thamyris, Mazebreaker, Beyond Maze, Ruby Monday, Optimate Maximus, Tarkshyas, Team Ops) CA: 9 Releases, 20 Figures (NW Alpha Expansion pack, Skyhound, Stingers, Sartroids, NW Beta Expansion pack, Ruby Monday, Drakios team, Ionn Bann, Nexus 7 Spec Ops) Nomads: 5 Release, 19 Figures (Riot Grrls, Mazebreaker, Beyond Maze, Ruby Monday, Gecko Squadron) YJ: 8 Releases, 16 Figures (Gui Feng Xi, Kuang Shi, ISS Delta set, Yu Jing Beasthunter, Sun Tze, Ninjas, Taowu, Gui Feng Spec Ops) PanO: 4 Release, 9 Figures (Kestrel Expansion Delta, Ruby Monday, Optimate Maximus, Indigo Spec Ops) Ariadna: 4 Release, 9 Figures (Ariadna Support Pack, SAS, Ionn Bann) JSA: 3 Release, 5 Figures (Ruby Monday, Ninjas, Ionn Bann) NA2: 2 Release, 3 Figures (Ninjas, Taowu) O-12: 1 Release, 2 Figures (Ionn Bann) Tohaa: 1 Release, 2 Figures (Ionn Bann) Haqqislam: 1 Release, 1 Figure (Haytham)
It looks like the Chandra got the Yadus old jacket. I can definitely understand if people choose to buy the old 4 man Yadu box instead of the upcoming 3 man box. The Spec and Tac Balls look great. I love that CB is now providing models for deployables. They are a wonderful "nice to have." And you can still use your tokens or customs if you desire.
