Now we have some interesting things with the Dikpala repeater. Its' still only a haris but handy.

You now don't need to have a different repeater or the EVO near to be able to put Marksmanship on them.

You can also have Adil in the the team. This gives him hacker protection.

Does anyone have experience running Sun Tze as an active Lt? I'd like to try him out.

Not yet. He's one that every time I put him in a list, I end up taking him out. He adds orders with stratego but then if i take him out I can add the same number of troops for orders.

If I use him i'm going to try using the Thunderbolt in vanilla combined with an mech engineer putting out deployable cover.

He does offer flexibility as he can move himself into the group that needs the extra orders. That's what draws me in.

He can move any troop. Not just himself. It's nice but I'm still not sure it's worth the price. I might do a "take him no matter" what list. Sort of like last year I did a "must always have a TAG". Right now I'm making myself take a flyer.

Actually, I think he's pretty good right now.

If you only look at his Lieutenant skills, he might not seem worth the points. But once you factor in his survivability, he becomes well worth the cost. That's because he saves you the points and slot of a CoC unit.

On top of that, Sun Tze is currently unmatched in the game when it comes to maximizing order generation—he is the only unit with Strategos L2 + 2 Orders.

But are the extra 2 orders and strategos 2 worth 53 points? He doesn't bring anything else for his points - not a specialist, can't go in a fireteam, only BS 12 with a short range weapon and no vis mods. Yes, he is resilient, but I struggle to fit him in. I feel like maybe he'd be more useful in vanilla YJ.

He is clearly not a fighter. B+1 is only for niche attack or late T3 shooting. His survivability ends, if a opponent with a high burst weapon gets LoF to him. The best option (+2 LT Orders) has the Vulkan Shotgun. You don´t want do walk up with your Lt. to kill some dudes with it. At least not in T1-2. So in the end you put him into safety like others Lt. (here Decoy 2 is very helpful) or back him up with a CoC if you realy have the urge to use him active.

I will try him out sometime, maybe in a Area of Interest scenario or Supremacy.

A little upgrade like Lt.roll (reroll) would be nice :-)

With how hard it is to cram more than 15 orders in ISS lists I really like him these days. He is expensive but expensive is okay for ISS, that's what kuang-shis are for. He brings a lot of tactical flexiblity to the table, and both his flash pulse and vulkan shotgun are not to be underestimated. I've often been surprised at how quickly he can get in the fight turn 3, kill stuff, and turn himself into an impossible roadblock.

I will eventually try him but I still don’t think he’s worth the points.

He’s not the only one with Strategos and Lt. +1. Hector also has it. He’s more expensive than Sun Tze but is much better in CC, BS, ARM, Fireteams, and weapons. Give ST a Plasma Rifle and I might consider him more! Then there’s the CoC. Starmada can take a 14pts Ment but ISS it’s a 23pt Pheasant. In SP they only have the much more expensive Myrm Officer but then that troop does more than a pheasant by having mim -6 and eclipse grenades.

BTW with an extra Command Token you can turn a dragon lord/warcore order into a regular order. It might as well be the same as +1 Lt order. But it’s actually more flexible because you are not obligated to use it as an order. You can do that or save it for a re-roll, or something else.

Who is also the only doctor in ISS ...

For one turn. If you generate that CT every turn, then I would follow your logic, but +2 Order is much more effective with Strategos.
The +1 CT Version could be considerd in vanilla, if you plan to use many coordinated orders.

Doctor for 4pts more. I was using the cheapest of both Pheasant and Ment. The Doctor is also available in vYJ.

This is true. But either way, I don't find either worth it right now.
