If you haven't seen this mission, this one looks crazy and fun. You have your normal DC 12" but also 4" from the centerline towards your opponent! Using a command token you can deploy 75pts of troops in that DZ. So what would you deploy?

    Here's a few for me.

You do not need to spend a Command Token. Just deploy 75 points in that middle DZ.

The Command Token is for the mission Critical Intervention, to deploy troops inside the objective room.

Yes! I got those mixed up. However I think the same can still apply for the troops. Now there's a use for they Bayara! I suppose there were uses before, but these missions seem to have them in mind. Or I should say they had the missions in mind when they created the Bayara.

For either of the missions, my way of thinking is troops have this criteria:
Cheap. These guys are probably going to be killed fairly soon no matter what you have. They are target #1. I'd rather loose cheap than expensive.
If not cheap, then hard to kill. Multiple wounds and immunities will help to keep them around a turn or two.
360 visors will be very useful.
Sixth Sense and/or Combat Instinct. You know the enemy is going to bring stealth and camo.
Not hackable! if you saw a hackable thing so close and possibly can't see your hacker, what would you do? It's bad enough they could be Targeted.

Troops and things to watch out for:
    • Ubberfall Commando (Pretty much any cheap close combat monsters)
    • Antipodes
    • Hackers
    • Mines

I'm thinking that if you think you are going to go up against a lot of camo, and going first, you might put a few troops with Sensor in and ruin their plans!

I did not realy thought about that mission, but here are some spontanous options (based on my available miniatures):

    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    [IMG]6 [IMG]1 [IMG]4
BAYARA (Minelayer) Light Shotgun, Heavy Flamethrower, Shock Mine / Kobra Pistol(PS=6), PARA CC Weapon(-9). (0 | 19)

KUANG SHI Chain Rifle / Pistol, CC Weapon. (0 | 6)
    CHAĪYÌ Yaókòng Flash Pulse / PARA CC Weapon(-3). (0 | 7)
MOTORIZED BOUNTY HUNTER Boarding Shotgun, Heavy Riotstopper / Pistol, PARA CC Weapon(-6). (0 | 8)

In ISS its also tempting to bring Koge Ninja (normal one will do, but hey minelayer, em stuff). Even a Kanren (minelayer with madtraps) is a nice option, especialy when you have the first turn). But - I would prefer cheap stuff. In case of Kuangs its a double sided sword - when they are gone, your main order battery will also gone, so put this stuff in group 2 and build a thougher group 1.

In IA its too tempting to put out the Zencha ML2 accompanied by cheap stuff.

For a special suprise try Hac Tao Hacker.

I may be playing this mission in the coming weeks. Ok, so if I put Kuang Shi in the far deployment zone, or when they're in the enemy side dead zone when they activate their impetuous order, which enemy deployment would they go to? The one furthest from me, the one closest to the KS, or either?

For impetuous troopers deploying in the middle deployment zone, they will move towards the opponent's middle deployment zone because it is closer. So, your impetuous trooper on the table will move closer towards you, not away.

I played against KFC today. Going second. My plan of putting in Hidden deployment troops would have been great... If it wasn't for Red Eye getting Sensor for some damn reason! WTF CB? That thing was already very good but then you give it sensor and make it cheaper. WHY!? My vanguard did get to emarat it but that was only for like an order or two for him to gizmo it back up with a Firefly. So yeah I lost half my force first turn and in LoL. I at least managed to hold him to only beating me by 1 point. Oh and he started the game with a crit from a Jackal spec firing a E/M grenade onto my TAG. His luck was amazing. 8 crits total. His spec firing grenades hit my Long Wang twice! KFC not fun to play against.

Yeah his luck was amazing. I shot at a firefly HRL 4 times why my Long Wang and never killed it. He needed 7s and I needed 11s. He crit at least once there. Just nuts!

Crits are crits - if they happen to player with an already "good" army/sectorial it gets hard.

My last (and first) game vs Kestrel was with Oban - more or less Sandtrap and beyond, so nothing new but the neuro-Black Air blocked the middelline. Funny: The only dice he throw was a discover vs my Obiwan, which failed. He got a very lucky salvo vs my O Yorai - dowing him in one order with the multi MMR. But the game was very close.

The re-awakened Pan O sectorials are also very though: I played NCA and the Uhlans attack run eats four of my ten regular orders in IA. At some point I looked over the tabel and wonder, what he got for 300 and what I had. But to be fair, his only multi-wound unit was the TAG. Its a beast, that lose one STR vs a mine and I managed to kill it with my Liu Xing hacker in CQB with about three orders (4 if you count the Combat Jump). It was hard earned draw...

Yeah that Red Eye is disgustingly good for it's points. @Space Ranger which units did you put in the middle deployment zone?

I recently played Crossing Lines for the first time against CHA with my ISS. In the middle I had two Kuang Shis, MBH, Bayara, and Koga minelayer. My opponent had 4 Galwegians, McMurrow, and Cadin in the middle. He went first and in the impetuous phase McMurrow tanked through Adil's AP spitfire, the overwatching Wu Ming, Kuang Shi and Weibing, got isolated by Koga's e/m mine, took a wound from an ARO, and Berserked into cc with my Hsien and put a wound on him. It took two Galwegians to take down the MBH, and Cadin took care of the Bayara when he finally got to his regular orders.

Things I learned: Koga Ninja with minelayer is good and covered one of the consoles quite effectively, though I was lucky because CHA doesn't have sensors. Bayara can cover an area with Guard, but I forgot that I took the minelayer profile and didn't put down a mine on deployment. I also should have used his HFT more. Both MBH and Bayara were a bit tricky to deploy due to their base size. Mormaer is a really good gunfighter now. Adil is so chock full of skills that I missed a whole bunch of stuff that could have helped me.

I was in retreat by the end of second round. It was still a good game considering my opponent is a veteran CHA player, and I still managed to score a couple of points.

I'll be playing Crossing Lines using MAF as part of the local league soon, and I was thinking about taking two fireteams each designed to fit into those 75 pts. One to go on offensive if going first, one to be a tar pit if going second. But looking at your approach I wonder if taking a few Daturazi wouldn't be more efficient here.

Interesting idea. Some mid to long range ARO/Firepower can also be helpful. Dependingvon the table. In Yu Jing you are tempted for CQB.

He was disguised as 3 Wu Ming with MR & GL. I did that to try to make up for the points that were hidden. Though I went up against a new guy who doesn't know IS so he wasn't going to figure that out anyway.

I agree that's good to make your list based on if you are going 1st or 2nd. For me, I felt having Hidden troops was going to be good either way. I was going to use the Ninja to move forward and take out anything important in CC. The Kunai snipe as well. The Vanguard was going to wait until 3rd turn to move to either zone if needed. I now feel I should have done only two of those three and then a bunch of Kuang Shi.

I played ISS against Kestrel in a couple of Crossing Lines games. I find that Bayara guard is a great speed bump against impetuous troops in the center line dz but less so against regular order troops that can shoot it from afar, especially when going second. Kuang Shi and Koga Ninja have worked really well. Red Eye going first made a big dent into my order pool. I had to spend significant resource in my bottom turn one to take it out.

I went first in the second game and took out Red Eye and all his important fighting pieces (Red Eye, Drummer HRMC, sniper) with smoke-shooting Hsien (my friend deployed Red Eye poorly forgetting Hsien has MSV2). Kuang Shi and MBH also made a dent during impetuous phase. This mission seems to heavily favour going first. Going second needs to counter deploy really well.
