Thanks! Another mini I never bothered to get until CHA came back: William Wallace. I don't see a reason to take him in Kosmoflot (there are hardly any irregulars there worth converting), and for some reason CB is still unwilling to let him be your Lt in Vanilla. But now that Caledonia has returned, Mel Gibson uuuuh William Wallace is finally joining my collection as well. For some reason, I keep wanting to paint these (mostly) in studio colors. I only changed the recipe for the metal and the sword.
Not strictly Caledonia, but I did play this guy as a Wulver in my last game: Wolfgang Amadeus Wulff. This is the third time I've painted him, and since he will mostly feature in my upcoming French project, I decided to use him as a test model to see how well I could pull off Angel Giraldez' original color scheme for the Merovingians. What do you think?
With the end of 2025, every thread gets a recap – so here's one for my Ariadna: I only managed to add six minis to my collection this year, which was a bit sad. Still, it was enough to let me play one very cool Caledonia list that I'm having a lot of fun with. Sadly, my idea to finally paint up the full range of old CHA models in 2026 had to be scrapped for personal reasons. I had managed to acquire all the minis, I even had them build and painted. But in the end, I realized I would not have the time to paint them in the foreseeable future. Combined with the fact I can kinda play all the Caledonia I want by proxying the missing units with my Kosmoflot minis, I decided to sell them again and instead focus on slowly expanding my Kosmoflot. They did get some nice upgrades with the last update after all... Anyway, here's my Ariadna group shot for 2025 – with 2 Frontoviks, a Wardriver, a Scots Guard, William Wallace, Cadin Donn, and Wolfgang Amadeus Wolff having joined the party :)
So, apparently I never shared my Highlander Caterans here. These paintjobs are from 2024 actually, but I guess it's better to share them late than never. The idea with these was to paint one for me and one for a friend of mine, trying out two things at the same time: Painting one up from black primer and the other one from white, and painting one without and the other one with a time limit. Therefore, I painted the black one first, for myself, with no time limit, and the white one with a hard cap of two hours. I'll leave it up to you to tell me which one is which :) Cateran 1 Cateran 2
Really hard for me to tell. I would guess the right one is the 2h limit as I may notice some minor details more refined on the left one but I may completely fooled by my mind wanted to find differences. It's really impressive how close they are.
I also would say right is the two hour one. Details looks a bit rushed (Knife, holding hand, hair) and no red from the weapons targeter. But: I looks like the shoulder is better done, the backpack a bit more detailed - anyway both are impressive.
