I'm having a hard time deciding on troops for this mission with all of my forces. I feel that if I'm going to defend, I want troops inside the server room. I think troops can just do a better job than the automatic combi rifles. I want the troops cheap enough that it doesn't hurt too bad if they are killed. I don't want hackable UNLESS they are also repeaters.

So for what i'm thinking are:
The baggage bot with TR combi rifle. If it survives, it's +20pts inside. It's a repeater, the combi on it is slightly better than the auto defense.

Forward Observer remotes because again it's a repeater but can also use Sensor on any troops close to it.

Other troops would be Yuan Yuan, Liberto minelayer, Gudan, and similar. Nothing that is hackable.

Also troops that will still be good if I'm attacking instead of defending.

To support them outside, I think an EVO would be good to either give them Fairy Dust, or Assisted Fire. Unfortunately the game can't be started with either of those things.

The faction that's giving me the most trouble is Aleph. Other than the bag bots there's nothing else that seems good. JSA is also difficult.

JSA seems primed for this mission with all their CC units to clear or hold the room. Defenders can have some nasty hidden deployment in the room and for Attackers, a Shikami is probably the best unit for taking the data pack and retreating somewhere safe. They have a few minelayers and Keisotsu Hacker seems ideal to keep hackables out the room. Miyamoto can be useful if you want to not be bothered by repeaters and the a Tanko Disco Baller.

The main thing they will have to worry about are mass direct templates. Otherwise, they should be quite strong.

Cheap warbands with big 'ol templates seem like a good choice. Esp if they have a decent fork attack. You could put one in each corner (or close to the corner) for ~40-50pts. and not shed a tear if they die

True but if i'm attacking, what I would do i just roll up with a hacker and Spotlight them, the guided missile can get rid of a lot of them fast. This is why I was thinking of repeaters due to having something to fight hackers that get close. So a combo of a repeater bot and warband I think is good. Great for my Yu Jing but my Aleph sucks for cheap troops. My O-12 is not that great either. The IS Bayara seems made for this mission.

Well, I mean, you'd have spent 2 orders to get there and 2 orders each to kill a warband, assuming they don't Dodge/Reset. I'll take that trade.
But nothing stopping a repeater going in there too

Good point. But it's going to be easy for attacking infiltrators to be right up against the building. So no order for doing moving up. Even better if it's a deployable repeater minelayer or similar. Thankfully there's not many of them.

But there lies the flaw in my having remotes inside. Even though they are repeaters themselves, my hacker can’t counter through another repeater. Meaning I have a repeater bot inside, then the enemy moves their own in, like a Moran or drops deployable. My hacker can do nothing against his hackers that attack the remotes. My hackers can’t attack a repeater, only remotes and hackers.

I think i've decided on IS again.

For Defense i'll put the Bayara and just the Kuang Shi in the building.

I took BSG KS because they will be +6 inside the building and a template can be hard to use. They also get +3 to dodge for the enemy coming in with their own DTW.

For the Attack they will be a core with the Son-Bae. I’ve used this a few times and it’s been awesome.

The Bayara of course is fantastic for this mission. The 360 visor and being able to CC anyone that gets close. The LSG is good in the building. MSV for the camo guys.

Their repeater would extend their hacking zone, and your repeater would extend yours. Therefore you are both in each other's hacking zone, just through repeaters. So either of you could hack the other hacker, just with a -3 (for going through a repeater)...?

Unfortunately you can't hack through a repeater to another repeater to the hacker. At most you can hack the remote if it's a repeater to turn it off. But you can't do that to a deployable repeater or something that has the skill naturally like a Moran or Tinker.

I don't even think it can be ARO against it. Because you can only hack something activating in your hacking area. Technically a repeater is not doing anything.
