Just a fun thing to think about. It’s going to be years or never even happen, but I was thinking of a new Yu Jing sectoral and what that could be. First the obvious one would be a Korean sectoral. But I don’t want this after the JSA fiasco. I don’t think it’s good to make a sectoral in Yu Jing based on cultural groups. Also, I feel White Banner is already the “Korean sectoral”. They could add one or two new troops to solidify that. A Navy sectoral based on troops that are about assaults on ships/satellites/and orbit to ground could be very cool. We know that the Haidao and Tian Gou are naval troops. But that’s all I know of so far. Banner armies. In the lore, Yu Jing has 8 Banner Armies. White Banner is one of them. Each one is a part of a Yu Jing system or other with a Yu Jing presence. White, Black, Green, and others. I personally would like a going back to Paradiso. Yu Jing troops made of many veterans of the war with CA. And now for something completely different. Any ideas? Yu Jing has created a new division for finding and using technology from humans and aliens alike. Experiments on creating their own super soldiers like Haqqislam but using Antipode virus from Ariadna similar to Bearpodes with mixed results. Expanding on the Su Jian project with new alien technology, they have created the most adaptable TAG in the human sphere! (come on, who doesn't want a transformer TAG?) Not all of the Japanese turned traitor to Yu Jing! Many stayed honorable and fought against JSA rebellion. (I’m thinking of a Yu Jing-Japanese character here.
Well, the cultural approach is quite the low-hanging fruit and easier to grab. Please bear in mind that China, as a nation, is composed by several cultural groups even today, with differences in dialect, so even "core YJ troops" don't necessarily have to belong to the same cultural group. The JSA case was quite different, and was designed as such since the beginning. In N2 the Kempeitai had an Impersonator profile, valid only against YJ opponents (in N3, Fidays had a single IMP level against CA, while CA always had the full IMP value in the Speculo Killers, so we saw those differences for a long time), and there has been historical tensions between China and Japan... despite their language being the "noble speech" for the other for a long time as well! In the end, the second coming of Uprising would need a second instance of a country that was not only a "bad neighbour" to the eyes of China, but also "bought" and humilliated for a long time (Japan was, in Infinity Lore, in deep monetary debt, and YJ, wanting to unite the whole Asian People under its banner, bought their debt and forcibly integrated them unto the StateEmpire). Candidates for a second Uprising could be North Korea and Taiwan equivalent, but those were already part of a greater cultural group, with NK being also a continental country, so I doubt the problem would be as hot as with JSA. Additionally, after the first Uprising, I feel there would be no excuse to keep any kind of chance for a second one alive. We have, after all, the same option Altered Carbon had for dealing with criminals: throw them in the freezer (if you don't want them permanently gone) and resleeve them one individual at a time, in isolated positions at separate positions of the YJ lands, so they never can rally anyone at all. Personally, I think the Korean sectorial is quite probable, since Netflix got such a massive amount of korean series a few years ago, and it's kinda impossible in Spain to not know several people who like to watch them, making it a project with some pre-existing awareness. Other options are more complicated, however, and would derive to more specialized sectorials, but then Corvus would face quite a decision for all factions: keep sectorials as "ample" as they are now, or increase the number of sectorials, but reducing the variety of troops? That being said, the amount of profiles that are "common to all" (remotes and support pack) is quite high in Invincible, for example.
Not another Uprising! Thats like cooking egg fried rice with Jamie Oliver we need that so much as CA was in need for Achiless - Zero. For the Banner armys, we have White already, no need for another color. A sectorial that hunts alien tech would make sense fluff wise but has not much substance. Also a Navy sector has not enough units. Maybe a mix from both. I think YJ is an a good postition with its three sectorials. A SEA sectorial that mix the visuals of traditional Siam (Thai) soldiers, indonesian and malayian troops (maybe with loans from Haqqislam), cheap linetroops from Burma and some fighters from the Philipines, Laos and Kambodia - all visualy based on their traditional troops from the middle ages but with modern asthetics. But this will be based on earth troops. In YJ that all should be merged already. Not forgot the mongolian cavalery motobikes.
Uprisings are lazy writing I think. Especially now. And not likely to happen to YJ again. For me, Dashat has almost been a 4th sectoral. They are like north-western China and Mongolia. I've got bikers with them.
I'd combine most of White Banner with Imperial Army and use the Korean parts for a new Steppe Sectoral. Jujak profiles get combined with Zuyong and they are treated as model variants of one entry type. Blue Wolf- Gets a MK12 profile and improved 8-2 speed New S7 TAG- 8-2 movement, quadraped similar to the juggernaut, panzer faust and flammenspeers Golden Eagle Remote- tacaware baggage remote that duos with TAGs to give them extra movement, there's tales from Hungary to Japan of birds that deliver a weapon to a warrior hero. New S5 HI- Wrestler themed, NBW and CC(-6), and Monofilament cc weapon. Mongol cavalry on monocycles- ARM3 NWI HI MIM-3 with Thunderbolts and E/Mitters, Pitcher Discoballer option, GML option, the horse archer returned. Fireteams with TAGs Shaman Hacker- Biker HI, Holoechoes, counterintelligence, Lt option
If the most recent sectorials are anything to go by, I think that should YJ get a new one it'll be something completely out of the left field, with large number of new units, instead of a regional or ethnic-based one. For example Imperial Expeditionary Force, with backstory focused on space exploration and fighting for and protecting new worlds, places where PanO does not have as big of an advantage, if any. I could see units like Daofei, Haidao, Gudan and Tian Gou fitting there, but as I've said, lots of new stuff.
I agree. Like they did with Next Wave, a few old units from Aleph, the rest totally new. They would probably have most of the troops only available to the new sectoral. One that I think would be cool is a Black Ops group made up of many camo/mim troops (I think YJ is 2nd or third for number of camo troops). Focus on assassinations, theft, demolitions, etc., with lots of speed, specialists, light on heavy weapons.
Sounds cool. could be an interesting diversion from the usual HI-heavy sectorials. Still, I can't repeat this enough, we have enough sectorials in the game already. I'd really prefer to see older ones getting a proper balance pass.
Oh I agree. I just made this to get people talking. And it's just fun to be creative. Besides it's probably be many years they come back to doing anything for YJ. Theres others that need help over YJ.
Speaking of being creative, here’s my stab at a YJ inspired Cameronian. It’s based on the Bai Hu (White Tiger god of the West). One of the 4 mythical creatures/spirts. Along with Snake-Turtle of the North, Phoenix of the South, and Azure Dragon of the East. Hu Fei (Flying Tiger) Uses camouflage and stealth. Pounce on its prey. He will use cover until its first kill. Not as strong but faster. Cost more than the average Cameronian or even McMurrough. Type: Warband Order: Irregular Stats: Move8-2 | CC23 | BS9 | PH15 | WIP12 | ARM4 | BTS3 | VIT2 | S6 | AVA1 Skills: Berserk (+3) (Pounce), Camouflage (no mim), Courage, Dodge (+2”), Immunity (ARM), Frenzy, Natural Born Warrior, Stealth, Super Jump Weapons: Heavy Shotgun, Chain Colt (+1B), Grenades, AP+DA CC Weapon (PS=4) (Kwan/Guan Dao) PTS: 30 For price I’m thinking he would be more expensive than McMurrough due to Frenzy over Impetuous, Camo and Stealth instead of smoke, Berserk at +3 but not martial arts. White Banner is the colonial force Yu Jing mustered to take over some parts of Svalarheima, before PanOeania managed to flag every part of the planet for themselves.
We understand that, and it was mentioned above, I thought you were talking about the previous post about the Cameronian Tiger man I did. Of the armies we know of there's the Eight Banner Armies. White, Black, Green, Red, Yellow. I'm not sure on other colors. Han Chinese is the majority but they are supposedly made up of all the YJ ethnicities. Invincible Army seems to be separate from the Banners and also all ethnicities. Daebak Force is a quick response unit but we don't know how big it actually is yet. But their forces have been in every major YJ conflict since the Uprising. Made up of mostly Korean. Something to note. China in the future could also include Siberia. Much of it was owned by China until it was taken by the Russians in the 19th century.
I do not miss a cameronian in YJ. I would take something like the "extreme" Zellenkrieger (8 Ball?) for max 15 pts. The profile itself is interesting. Camo with mim-0 works to cross a gab, Berserk helps to charge, but you have to start in LoF. HSG is on 15 if a non mim-opponent is on the open, so 12 is realistic on 8" but then you are in charge range ... overall I think its too expensive. Following the fluff line - where everyone wants a piece of Shinju (YJ are already represented with ISS) or aims to explore new frontiers a marine sectorial / expedition force would make sense. I would like to see some bikers (still have mongolian cavalary in mind -a bit like Aragoto but more CC orientated. Thai Deamon warriors - HI wearing masks (or another STR / NWII HI) slightly enhanced, again with good CC.Medium ranges. Garudas as an Aleph loan. Some experimental bio enhanced stuff like the Zellen mentioned above. And of course Shaolin HI. Haidaos as main HI. Daoyings of course. Sulyongs. The Flyer. Shangs as WC but very limted in AVA. Tian Guos. Daofeis. Zhansis. Blue Wulf. Adil MI with plasma rifle.
By the time YJ comes around to having another sectoral, the Shinju story will be done I think. Then on to the next story.
