It is usual to see units as overpowered, until you make lists with them and then play with them, RedEye is not bad, but has its own limits and imposes its own limits on your list if you include it.

And yes, MO changes were needed.

 

Teucro is the big lost here... I think. Pandora I almost didn´t see on the field, it was always the morat one. Regarding the cost increment to ikadrons, I think that will be not so critical by the decrement for other profiles like Achilles, I think event EI aspects went cheaper now... but the lost of flash pulse and movement is, I think, the big deal.

I´m truly curious to see how the new release impacts.

 

Brave new world for sure. Ikadrons hurt but most of the above are modern additions. CA were fine with the Rasyat before Dukash. Teucer just did a drive by in his way to NW. We still keep Achilles and Imetrons. Samaritans are only missed now when the had a glow-up. Nourk is still there and perfectly fine.

Losing Mentors pushes us even more into active LTs but all in all I think it is a fair balance for a faction that has been top dog since at least N3.

 

So, let's say... vCA now have the only reliable heavy weapon platforms in form of TAGs (Avatar, Overdron) or HIs (Achille, Charontid).
Other active-turn platform are almost non exploitable.

Low cost troops are now nonsense. Imetron cost at 6 and the kneecapping of Ikadron (they lost whatever made them useful and increased cost, why not stip them off of the LFT too?) will make them disappear. Back and bone of the CA, once. Paper-holder now...

I'm really not happy with these changes. vCA is now the only Valinna Army with a rooster selection like a Sectorial, but without any advantage of Secorial Armies.

 

That seems a bit dramatic. vCA is still extremely powerful and still top tier. Heck, this is still possible:

I did not, I mentioned already the timing of my Anathematic's purchase and how I didn't looked into this further since I never used the troop (I was more of a Skiavoros or Charontid Lt the few times I would play vCA, favouring Onyx).

Anyways, ooking at the Cancellation conditions (pg 160 english rulebook V5.2, pg 165 spanish ruleboo v5.2). At this version of the rules, you go from Hidden Deployment to Marker State if:

They declare Cautious Movement or any Basic Short Skill that does not require making a Roll (except Look Out!).
They delay their ARO against a Marker.
They prevent an Enemy Trooper from entering a Marker State. <- this one here is the point.

Risky and more limited than in the past, for example in N3 when declaring Inaction would not take you out of Marker State automatically (since in N4 it was added to Inaction that should you be in marker state, the Troop would reveal itself).

Mind you, here I'm not declaring anything, I'm fulfilling one Cancellation clause from Hidden Deployment by simply being there (remember, the enemy simply loses their whole order since recamo is a Long Skill).

I personally think CB should revisit the kits instead of just adding skills and gear to up the cost on cheaper units, since it has been the usual "patch" for the whole N4... and it seems it did not work as expected.

The sheer horror when you realize TAK can deploy a whole camo army of 14 troops, 8 AP Mines, 8 EM Mines and 2 Decoys, where only the 2 Barsuk 11pts are not carrying AP or T2 weapons... also you have 1 tankhunter Lt and another CoC (which is the only specialist)...

I mean, just thinking about having this in front of me makes me look with envy the go-pod of the Nomad's flyer, since it can kamikaze into the minefield and detonate most or all of the mines at least...

The good part of the RedEye is the Sensor... so many units with Sensor, almost as if CB wants us to use them against the camospam...

Neurkinetics Teucer to be sure, MSV2 with plasma are still present in vCA as Yaogat (with +1B built in) and the Exrah one (cheaper but much more fragile). The Ikadrons are no longer assault units, but getting Dogged makes them true castles against AD troopers (since they still carry a pistol and double flamethrowers plus the repeater), since they also have remote presence, so like Unidrons you need to do 3 wounds in one order to remove them (since they can activate dogged in their second Unconscious state).
The new Sartroids may change things depending on the question I made before, if one troop with cyberplug must be in the state at all times, or only when they want to.

 

Tactical Awareness Sensor bots are usually finding their way in my lists for this reason.

 

Possible is possible. But that is not even more fun to play. It's what has been played for almost ten years now.

Any new news on releases? It would be really nice if the Zeybek is available this year. Haqqislam is still waiting for its first new model of 2025.

I agree that S&C are a Haqqislam release as well as NA2. I should have had that in my list. They got their start in QK and have been in there ever since before NA2 existed.

CA of course has jumped up in the figures to 13 figures and WE KNOW that in December there will be another release of some sort. I'm willing to bet on a 3 figure expansion. This will put them well over for the most new figures from 2020-2025 at roughly 90-94 figures! Nomads didn't get a lot this year but they should be in second place assuming PanO doesn't get a lot more and they will be in third.

We know the Zeybek is coming out. But I don't put anything on the list until it's at least in the pre-order of the store. We just don't know if it's Dec or Jan. There's also the K2 Auxiliars, Guifeng Spec Op.
