It’s official. CA is getting a new sectorial. From the sound of things, this fall.

We know it will be focused on humans “loyal” to the Combined Army. I guess CB said most will not be sepsitorized.

So what I’m curious about is this. What do we think the Next Wave will be like?

The other CA sectorials have specific focuses.

MAF is well… aggressive. Angry space oni monkeys that lean on alpha strikes and fireteam synergies.

SEF is the polar opposite with a focus on stealth and sneaky tactics.

Onyx is (staying.) a mixture of elite units from across the CA.

So what do we think NW will be like? We only have a few things to go off of at the moment right? We have team Achilles. Which are all characters that range from eh to amazing. And possibly Ko Dali and Bit and Kiss since they’re the only other humans in CA.

I think we might see a new non character HI. CA is actually pretty low on HI these days. And what’s available is either pretty mid or over the top amazing. With relatively few in between even across vanilla and sectorals. Maybe a good B+ to A tier HI.

I think we’ll also see some units that are nuanced profiles and lore that you can kinda see where they came from in the Human Sphere. Kinda like O-12. But still uniquely their own hopefully.

So what do you all think? I’m pretty excited to see something really new for CA. Not just a rework of something older.

i wont be surprised if monkes have their own Uprising and left the CA after seen the alliance with humans as a weakness, going NA2 and letting space for the new wave sectorial

Achille full team, Bit&KISS, Ko Dali and why not Victor Messer, Oktavia and Aida Swansson.
Then "elevated" humans with alien technology

There's a topical philosophical question... Are Victor and Aida humans just because they think they're human?

As I mentioned I the News thread, I really hope CB leans into a more interesting design direction with New Wave.

The ex-human/uncannily human-like aspect is already the part of CA that I am most interested in, I hope that they create something with a fun and unique vision for CA.

vCA's potency and dominance is perhaps a bit overblown (although I'd still rate them extremely highly, I think they struggle against the truly most egregiously strong factions in the game), what isn't is how suffocating boring their list design and gameplay is.

I hope New Wave lives up to its namesake and leans into enough weirdness to justify a whole new sectorial. We don't need an army built around a usual suspect list of ultra-competent wrecking balls and static filler. Combine human curiosity and drive with alien weirdness.

Also, please make Ko Dali worth taking. I have three of her sculpts now, and I just want a good reason to use at least one of them. She's a cool character, and her nuanced kit just falls a bit short of being viable in the current ecosystem of hyper-optimization.

Maybe, but it makes sense to me. The EI is not meant to be its own force. It’s fragmented among the ones they control on purpose. This force might have a new EI troop as well. Especially in a force made up of a new race to join the Combined Army. Shasvastii and Morats have been a part of the CA for a long time and have gained some independence due to that. There’s also some smart marketing yourself as well. By using subject races the enemy can see how EI is inclusive is and that you can also be treated to the benefits of the EI if you join them rather t han fight them.

Would be interesting if in a year a or two one of the existing largely species-centric factions (Morats and Shas) becomes disenchanted and breaks away from Combined and forms a separate/NA2 army

I did not expect that CA not only stole team Achilles from aleph, but the new sectorial as well. Jokes aside, I have 0 interest in a whole sectorial of humans in CA, If I wanted to play humans there's the rest of the game for that (and I did switch to Pano for N5).But the tekdrakens steeljaws stole my heart, if we don't get a robo-dynosaur TAG or a vehicle it would be a crime, I would even prefer that we got a whloe sectorial of cyber dinosaur weirdos instead to be honest.

There is a low to zero chance of a species aligned to UR hegemony defecting and staying alive, Exrah Concordia is a simple example of how this can go, and they only sold weapons to the enemy, not outright defecting.

There's a low to zero chance of Japan successfully seceding from Yu Jing. Happened anyway. Infinity is not the best at following internal power dynamics consistently, favouring "rule of cool" for its plotlines. Hell, has PanO actually won any conflicts outright since the game launched? I think the place they're strongest was just blockading YJ during Uprising, and this is supposed to be a power so strong that it takes the rest of the Sphere to counterbalance them.

To be fair, a sectorial like Morats defecting and being moved to NA2 wouldn’t really change much of anything besides optics in army app and lore in books. Besides getting maybe some different remotes or something like that. Vanilla CA has already seen most of the valuable Morats leave in favor of sectorial only. Aside from standouts like the Datarazi and Rasyat. It wouldn’t be like JSA where Yu Jing literally lost like 1/3 of their units.

That all being said, this is where I feel head cannon can be a lot of fun. If that’s where you see things going, do something like a fresh color scheme and some remote conversions that can represent this band of Morats that are defectors to represent your feelings. If CB ever went that way, you’d already be steps ahead in that situation. And if not, the story exists still for your army and no one can stop you from making that change in your infinity universe. :)

I can't see Morats leaving CA. They get everything they could want from CA. They get a lot of fighting against many different foes and have fun doing it. Sure the don't get to pick who they fight but they still get to do what they want.

Also, of all the troops we see from the CA is probably just a small portion of their actual force. These are just the ones that were available to fight the human sphere and were able to fight on human worlds. There's probably millions more Morats fighting in other parts of the universe. Their actual force is probably billions! And those are just the ones that breath a oxygen-nitrogen atmosphere. There's probably billions more that are water/methane/whatever breathers. Aliens that can live on more/less gravity. etc.

Bostria dropped some info about Next wave in this interview. He said we should expect Juggernaut, something that sounds like Raindancers and Cliffjumpers? I don't understand him very well. Juggernaut could be TAG or dino. And other 2 units could be infiltrator and paratrooper? Maybe somebody will understand names better than me.
