Infinity N5 Battle Report - Hassassin Bahram vs JSA Shindebutai (Frontline)

Today, we're playing Hassassin Bahram vs JSA Shindenbutai, as I continue my exploration of N5 Hassassins by asking the question: what if, gun? Hassassins are a faction that spent much of N4 very much bound to the 24" range band, but a new edition requires questioning old paradigms and there are of tools they have access to in this edition that maybe let them dabble in the longer ranges. Or just get eaten in close combat by a triple-elite heavy infantry Shindenbutai list.

Infinity N5 Battle Report - Bakunin vs White Company (Supplies)

Today we're taking on a channel supporter challenge to play a double Stigmaton bakunin list, up against White Company. This is definitely a "both players' first attempt with the faction in the new edition" showdown, and experienced players of either faction are entitled to scream at us about leaving certain pieces at home, but the factions themselves feel quite evenly match and White Company is absolutely on my 'explore in future' list alongside BJC.

This game in particular is an interesting lens into what separates different tiers of faction in infinity - not always necessarily raw inherent strength, but rather the ability to accommodate different and challenging mission lineups without compromising to the point of weakness.

Infinity N5 Battle Report - Corregidor Gecko Team vs JSA Oban (Evacuation)

Armies: Jurisdictional Command of Corregidor vs JSA Oban
Scenario: Evacuation (ITS 16.2)
Today we're playing Corregidor against JSA OBan in Evacuation. Evacuation is one of those scenarios that doesn't technically any special timing around it's scoring, but in practice demands a huge amount of attention paid to the scenario, as it's extremely - sometimes deceptively - order intensive. In practice this means you need to spend all three turns really finely balancing any offensive plays with making sure you're consistently either making ground or setting up for the scenario, which we see in full effect in this game.

Infinity N5 Battle Report - Aleph Operations Subsection (OSS) vs Yu Jing (Superiority)

Scenario: Superiority (ITS 16.2)
Today we're playing a game with OSS, with a particular focus on the Garuda profile. The Garuda received some significant changes as part of the update to N5, and in practical purposes is probably the single most maneuverable model in the game. Some models might technically move further per order, but most of those models are vehicles, which are hugely constrained by their stonking great silhouette size. A Garuda is Silhouette 2, which makes it functionally unparalleled in getting places your opponent really, really doesn't want a model to be.

Today we're playing testbed Hassassins into testbed Ariadna; two lists each designed to just throw some concepts at the wall and see what sticks, with me making the ultimate do-it-or-no-balls play of deploying first and going second. Don't do this! Really, it's not worth the stress. But this list was built to go second, and so go second I was going to do come hell or high water.

Today we're showing how the sausage is made a little by talking through my very first game with an Imperial Service list concept and all the many and varied little frictions that arise that first time you play something. These include little weaknesses and challenges in the list itself, as well as deployment and during the early turns, and how those knock on into later rounds of the game.

Infinity N5 Battle Report - NEW Provisioning Scenario - Tartary Army Korps vs Kestrel Colonial Force

This week, Corvus Beli announced the dates for Interplanetario which includes a new scenario that will be played at the event! The scenario is called Provisioning and, as the name might suggest, is a twist on supplies. But what a twist! It uses radial deployments where each player has a 24" quarter-circle from a table corner, with the center line of the table being the diagonal line between the other two corners. Infinity N5 Battle Report - Hsien Warrior Lt Yu Jing vs Kestrel Colonial Force (Evacuation)

Today we're doing a long-overdue channel supporter request to play a Hsien Warrior Lt. Not the HMG Lt, one of the other ones. This isn't a profile I'd normally put in my lists under any circumstances because 49pts for a model built for offence but packing a B3 PS7 weapon with no link bonuses or special die is a rough shout, but in Evacuation there's a very narrow use case for a tough, fast specialist with a lot of orders.

Today we're playing the custom Mothball scenario from A Tale Of Miniatures and Dice's unofficial global campaign The Mothball Incident. The scenario sees us trying to scan dangerous zones in the middle of the table to uncover hostile creatures and eventually find the titular Mothball, which then turns into a game of butterfingers hold-the-ball with the Mothball itself providing a powerful but temporary buff, scoring scenario points but losing control each time the buff is used. With the release of the new Iguana profile, it's time to try out the TAG in one of it's two available sectorials and that means it's time for I think my second ever Qapu Khalqi video. Notwithstanding my lukewarm attitude toward them in prior editions, QK are a very complete army this edition, with multiple new tools in the toolbox that make them a faction with a great mix of gunfighting, hacking and warband play that's now supplemented by the very durable Iguana.

Today we're playing the Neoterran Capitaline Army (WE'RE BACK BABY) against Spiral Corps. At GenCon, Corvus Belli announced the return of five of the previously removed sectorials (Neoterra, Acontecimento, Caledonia, French Merovingia and Spiral Corps), and so we're sitting down today to try and translate some N4 army structures into N5 and have a bash with what might be something somewhat close to the N5 version of these armies. I have some mixed opinions on the return of these armies from a gamer vs commercial perspective which I'll share at the end, but for now we get to combine two of my favourite Infinity things: Auxbots in any edition, and Garuda in N5.

Today, we revisit a classic: the powerful Charontide and Anathematic pairing. This combination has been close to my heart ever since someone told me they wished I had never come up with it in N4, which is the greatest compliment a list can receive. It doesn't translate exactly to N5, but updating it has still generated some interesting ideas that we'll discuss when presenting the list.
