I've got my first Aleph game coming up and it's going to be against Combined. What is recommended for specifically fighting them?

I picked up a box of Yadu. Mainly because it was the only box and still an old price! $40! They seem great coming from using a lot of HI. They are essentially un-hackable heavies because they are MI ARM3 but NWI. The points might seem hi for Aleph but they are in-line in comparison to some of the HI+NWI. I've also found Warhorse hackers are great. Especially one with an extra wound. In Vanilla they can duo just themselves or team up with others.

Infinity Dante made a good video on YouTube about beating CA. Invest in some good KHD and tun up in turn 1 to smoke their hackers. Or invest in good BS shooters and take out their weak support elements i.e., LI, Baggage bots, etc.

Unfortunately my problem with hacking was in the form of a witch soldier killing both Yadu as if they were both not worth his time.

I had a 150pt teaching game on Saturday. It was my first time playing Aleph and my opponents second actual game. He used Morats. So because it was a teaching game I showed him things like using smoke to move up and directed right to killing my Lt.

What I learned was not to bother trying to ARO with Dawon Flamenspeers. Since it was a small board 150pts, I was at 0 range bonus. Their BS11 was crap. It would have been better just to dodge with their +3.

And again I have a force that has too much E/M that's worthless against Morats. :joy:

At a 150pts, your best bets are the usual Posthumans (mk4 ML is a good ARO turret, the Doctor can recover/self heal/do missions, or you can grab an engineer instead, and the mk2 or mk5 can make good midfield blocks). Dakinis are the bread & butter at low points, the Combi Rifle has good ranges in a 150pts table, and the mimetism offests a lot of the BS11. Plus they need 3 wounds to be removed from the table, so recovering is easy and fast. Nagas are good choices for midfield skirmishes, while the Garuda BSG can make a blazing sweep against enemy light bodies.
Netrods and flashpulse bots are good choices for cheap orders, if vanilla then Myrmidons are another good source of cheap, efficient bodies.
Danavas can give you cheap access to risky pitchers (BS11) and the Hacker Plus toolkit, but need at least a second hacker for protection. Knauf is your discount sniper (hawkwood is the "premium" one, specially if he's in White Noise), Penthesilea your missile, and Devas your cheapest Lt option.

As for CA, the Daturazi are a staple of all generic lists (one to three, cheap orders with smoke, and they move by themselves with the impetuous order), one Aspect as Lt (it is really strange to play vanilla CA without Aspects, since they are available only there, but Achilles, a Nexus hacker and Nourkias are possible), very likely imetrons, ikadrones and flashpulse bots, the Speculo Killer is quite common (the Greif Operator makes it a shell game: is that Impersonator the Speculo, or the greif?), and they have access to Taighas, Hungries and the Libertos. Bit & Kiss is quite possible, since they are a cheap KHD option with Pitcher in both models (meaning 2 BS11 pitcher attemps!), and Team Achilles is an extra threat (even if Achilles is unlikely to show up in a 150pts list)

There is a good video against vanilla CA.
150pts OSS is pretty easy, I guess a 7-8 model list can be fielded with no prob. Remember OSS is hacker galore so they need baggage or repeaters (Danavas have pitchers). A channel I am following suggests Haris the likes of:

    Dakini para
    Dakini sniper
    Danavas

    Dakini HMG
    Deva KHD
    Danavas

as an Attacker/Defender system. With an EVO you can give Marksman. I would go MSV2 sniper as well to make sure you cover the Humbra with "regen" because the Dakini is necessary against the Carontids that protects with White noise:

    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    GROUP 1[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]5
    DAKINI (Paramedic) Combi Rifle ( | MediKit) / PARA CC Weapon(-3). (0 | 15)
    DAKINI MULTI Sniper Rifle / PARA CC Weapon(-3). (1.5 | 19)
DANAVAS (Hacker, Hacking Device Plus [UPGRADE: Oblivion (+1B)]) Combi Rifle, Pitcher ( ) / Breaker Pistol, CC Weapon. (0.5 | 22)
    PROBOT (Hacker, EVO Hacking Device) ( ) / PARA CC Weapon(-3). (0.5 | 14)
DEVA (Lieutenant, Triangulated Fire, Sensor) Combi Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, CC Weapon. (0 | 21)

    GROUP 2[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]3
    DAKINI (Paramedic) Combi Rifle ( | MediKit) / PARA CC Weapon(-3). (0 | 15)
DANAVAS (Hacker, Hacking Device Plus [UPGRADE: Oblivion (+1B)]) Combi Rifle, Pitcher ( ) / Breaker Pistol, CC Weapon. (0.5 | 22)
DEVA (Hacker, Killer Hacking Device) Boarding Shotgun ( ) / Pistol, CC Weapon. (0 | 20)

    3 SWC | 148 Points

    Open in Infinity Army

8 orders is very respectable. I separated in groups just to highlight the Haris teams. Likely you will have 1 group only. You can swap the Deva KHD for the Dakini paramedic since the Dakini sniper will likely stay behind. One thing missing is the MSV2 sniper... I suppose you can ditch a haris for a posthuman approach while keeping the sniper/KHD/Danavas haris in place

Well that game came and went. I was mostly crushed by a Daturazi smoking up and then killing half the force in CC.

The problem with the sniper is that the board for a 150pt game is smaller (24x32). I found fast that my long range weapons were at 0 or -3 range. A Deva Spitfire would have been fantastic.

This was a teaching game anyway and honestly, I didn't want to win. But turns out he had some great luck anyway.

It's a pretty significant observation. Rocket/Missile launchers maybe can help? (missile mah).
Can't make if the dice gods are against you, what you can do is try to push yourself more towards the handle (as in knife's handle) by maximizing your chances with burst and bonus brackets
