May>August 2025: USariadna expands its territory ever higher

I love lore and have purchased many of the novels. It would be great if they could collect and publish fan fiction as part of compilations. When the White Noise Podcast existed, I loved the narrative episodes. The world wide campaigns always made great and varied stories. There is so much creativity out there, it would be wonderful to have official collections for posterity.

 

I think I'm most happy about a couple of minis that had gone the way of the dodo with the C1 culling coming back as Essentials. Grenzer sniper, Perseus, Yan Huo ML, Tiger Soldier hacker.

As always though, you're screwed if you're a sectorial player. Want a Grenzer sniper as a Tunguska player? Here's a useless Taskmaster. We get it, CB, you want to sell minis. But this is a hamfisted and not very customer friendly approach.

Could've put the Kriza Mk12 in the Nomad box and the Hac Tao HMG in the Yu Jing box and have two perfect expansion boxes vor vNomads/ Tunguska as well as vYJ/IA, but no...

 

Mistake on the Dire Foes packaging shows O-12 instead of PanO but I’m sure it won’t be on the actual packaging. I really like the figures.

I like the Shenji. It’s cool they did the two of the turrets. But I would have preferred another Shenji. The Thunderbolt version. So far, I like this troop. It’s one of those troops that can do man different things. Engineer of course but it’s also a Veteran, and fairly good weapons with a decent BS. My only wish for them would be to have ENG (+3) rather than just 14. What I’m really looking forward to seeing is the Vanguard.

Go-Pod is pretty cool looking. It’s one of the better ones rule-wise as well.

 

I agree but YJ doesn’t currently have many figures too choose from for a set (That are not already out in some form). They would need to make some new figures and it’s not like YJ is going to get anything other than new ISS this year. Well, we could be surprised by one new figure. But yes, I think they should have done figures that were from a sectoral AND happened to be in Vanilla as well.

I think a good set could have been Guilang Sniper, Tiger Hacker, Bixie. All in WB and Vanilla. Two of which not currently in anything.

 

I can't unsee Bipandra as a Sister Hospitaler from the SoB... At least Yuriko no longer seems like a Mercy.

They are using the old packages in a new box. Sad, as you say, but predictable.

 

I thought the Drummer box was not very useful (You can play one or the other drumbot, but not both, without proxy a drummer) but this: One playable miniature with 2 tokens and a helperbot, that every YJ player has already and its not even a new one. For just a little above 40,- € - thank you very much. Yeah I´ve been a bit picky here, because I already have three (3) turrets (one is selfmade). At least we now know how a e-mitter looks. I don´t like to prox, but somehow I think the lim.ed. ABH looks a bit like the Shenji ...

While sis looks good, brother´s pose is two or three bits too much ... at least for me.

Small tanks. Cute.

Not so much an improvment of the old minis, that I want this. But the reworks a still good.

Best Jetbike so far. I think I will go pod for this ;.) looks very cool.

Or someone want a taskmaster only ... so do I - someone want the other two ;-)

Spoiler: Infiltrating Snipers

An Aleph player tricked me last wednesday with a hidden Dasyu in the midfield and ARO-shoot my Mech-Engineer on my first activation ... so yeah you could set up some things. Here it was OSS with Dasyu and Proxy Sniper. But happily Krit managed to brick the Asura and give me some advantage.

 

LOL I'm with you but it would have been better than troops from three different sectorals. I'm not getting any because I already have all of them.

 

I like the booster pack for Nomads. It has the three miniatures i want. But i am probably the only player this edition playing vNomads. Others i know are heavily into sectorials.

 

I'm wondering if there's going to be new Zhanshi at some point. Maybe a re-pack. The ONLY Zhashi available in the store are the White Banner Action Pack Zhanshi and the Hacker and HMG Zhanshi in the Yu Jing Action Pack.

 

I do wonder also, but personaly I have enough Zhanshis already. My SWC guys are only half painted. I also own the FO from the older Paintset.

Spoiler: Zhanshis and Celestial Guards

So I have 2 x 3 Combi, 1 FO and the 4 from the SWC box. I also have more then enough Celestial Guards. No that the SWC one are not playable anymore (Sniper and Spitfire could be used as MMR proxys ... but ... the hackers also have changed their loadouts but at least they are still look like hackers :-) So now I have 7 old ones (2 combi, 1 BSG - barley recognizeable, could be also combi) and the old SWC loadouts. Nothing to complain here, they are very old (but still cool minis) so I think they will be Brawlers now, which will only left the Spitfire on the shelf. I also have 7 newer ones. The three combis and the SGL are finished. Sniper and Spitfire will stay unfinished and maybe I paint the hacker, but I want to wait if there will be more CGs than the 3 combis from the newest ISS wave.

 

Colourfully painted Dire Foes, I feel bad for liking the PanO model better than the other two since I pref JSA on that front. Is there much left now with JSA to redesign apart from say Yojimbo and baggage bots? (despite his being a great design already)

Scarface / Cordelia look good painted, dark scheme, I'm too scared to ask the pricing on this.

I can't get behind the Go-Pods or other expensive flyers at all, apart from not matching their art, they feel like pri-madonna-maries tank designs like boxes with no character. I think biker proxies could be the way for me to go here.

 

Ugh, I want the missile Yanhuo but already have the Hsien and Tiger Soldier. Shenji looks really cool but I already have turrets from Defiance and Mech Engineer to proxy. Dire Foes, as always, are nice sculpts.

 

I was thinking along the same lines. They have confirmed that Maggie will get a resculpt soon. So that may well be one. And I think one of the top contenders is Jotum. It’s one of the oldest tag sculpts still in production. That and the Anaconda. But that one doesn’t seem very popular at all as you’ve said. Geckos would be awesome but yeah, that’d be more like a 3 tag release. A new Iguana would be interesting too.

My bet is Maggie and Jotum though. With either Nomad tag as a strong second/third option.

 

so the main product of gencon will be a warcrow one and not Infinity...

I'm willing to bet on Maggy being one of them. We have not seen much for Haqq in the last few years even when Hassassin was re-done. They came out with the new stuff and nothing else.

They can take care of Nomads and QK in one with a new Iquana.

 

A plastic Maggie would be good; I hope it will look as chonky as the current one, without the risk of damage to terrain and toes if you drop it.
The Jotum is another heavy piece of metal that could be resculpted. I like the current one, but the pose could be better - just look at the Szalamandra.
The Avator, Overdron and Xeodron are still metal. They have great sculpts, though.
Maybe a new TAG to go with the glorious return of USAriadna? Hey, I can hope...
