So it's been a good while since I picked up a brush with any kind of consistency and I've been promising myself for a few years now to get back into regular hobby to no avail.. That said, I've recently been slowly cleaning up some of my Yu Jing Invincible Army models, and now have a healthy little collection of models primed for paint. Now, I figure to keep progress coming, I'm going to hold myself accountable to the forums. I'm not a fast painter, preferring to take my time to achieve beautiful blends than rush an army out, so bare with me. In times past, I've been incredibly active on forums, so the hope is I can rekindle some of that feeling of camaraderie here. Here's my progress after the first couple of sessions on the Dāoyīng. It took a bit of working out how I wanted the Yu jing orange on my IA models, but I'm pretty happy with how this is turning out.
Lower half of the model coming along nicely. I'm fairly happy with how the shiny jade skirt came out. If I'd gone for more colour saturation I think it would have been too much, but leaning into trying to make it look more metallic than fabric meant that the contrast could make it "pop" without taking the show. Don't worry, I'll take some decent photos with the DSLR once she's finished. The phone is just more convenient for WIP shots.. View attachment 34434
