The shine you achieve on the armour is first class blending. I'm always generally happy with my blends all the way up until the final white/near white highlight. You seem to have found a way to achieve this without leaving an obvious transition. I anticipate the answer will be lots of thin coats.....I need more patience. Keep up the good work.

Sorry for the late answer guys.
@Sangarn Thank you very much for your comment. Yeah Black is a difficult topic. You can paint so many different things with just black and white. And its hard to find the exact mix for the right material you wanna create. Sometimes im not sure, what material is this im painting??. Is it metal, or metllic textile? So its sometimes the easy and fun way to make it interresting, not reallistic. So, yeah, my black is often not right in relation to the material.

Here are some older pictures with black armor parts:

    black1small.jpg black3small.jpg

Or the Hmg ( Its a matt metallic i think)

    black1small.jpg black4small.jpg

My basecoat is first black, than grey. No experiments here. Just when i know, i have to paint big bright parts, i use white for that.

I dont use any washes or inks, because it makes the miniatures look dirty when you mess it up.

Sometimes some colors needs to pushed, when u killed the midtone with shadows and highlights. In this case i use a ink in the midtone and dillute it very very watery and apply it to the whole surface 2 or 3 times. With this method you can clean some bad transitions sometimes too.

@IcariumVNam Thank you very much. Yeah you need patience and for me the best way to create smooth blendings is the pallette you prepare. Dont be afraid of using white when you go to the brightest hihlight. You can always tone it down with this method of dilluted midtone or light midtone and bake the colors together again.

Here you can see how i mix the colors i want to blend:

@maru yeah i know, there is gap between the base and the thingi of the terracotta xD
It was late and cold that night, and i was hungry and tired (but too tired to eat and glue things together in the right way)

Some of the best color blendings I have ever seen (apart from stuff on Putty& paint) very nice to see so much dedication on wargaming miniatures.

ye i know the idea is to fix this as fast as posible with no effort and cost - and here comes Acrylic putty or PVC glue - just stuf it ther and let it dry - then made it black - done :)
    - the neew guy - like the blade :) and helmet
but remember with reflective surfaces they wil reflect colours from surroundings - and this blue look s reflective so it wil catch a glimps of green from clothing when near it :)

Thats not easy to say. I think it took me 10 painting sessions, each between 1 till 2 hours. No way to cheat. Clean transitions takes lot of time. But ive recognized, the more your experience, the bigger the brush. I have started with tiny small kolinskys 00 ans 0. Then switched to 1. Now im painting with size 3, because you have more time to paint with it, as your tip drying.

I am glad you are at least not faster than me xD

Usually I use size 2 and 3 brushes but for Infinity I feel the need for the size1 since the details are so tiny. Also take in mind that winsor and newton size 1 is raphael size 0 so we cannot say generally how big is the brush depending on company. I have over 20 pure kolinsky brushes and only 3 of them work for infinity...even raphael and wn7 that are brand new can be not good products for my style of painting. its getting really annoying...buying 3x wn7 and then throw them out immediatly because my high demands are not met...

found an old photo of mine when to retire a brush...but some new brushes already arrive in the right state...

What is your secret for the green cloth?? Simply amazing work, but I am drawn to the... stippling? Cross hatching? on the cloth? You've added such a subtle texture, I think it's great.

Thank you mate. I have no secrets. You can ask everything. The cloak was the only airbrush work. But after that its too clean of course. So i added randomly some scratches with the highlight color and shadow color. But very slightly. Random doesnt mean uncontrolled. You dont want destroy the transitions.
