Hey community, after a recent discussion on the Warcrow discord I would like to clarify something. A lot of the command skills are once per activation, per turn or round. However certain skills like Naergon's Rage or the Wisemane let you add or let you fix a die of a roll. A few players on the discord are convinced that you can spend several command tokens once the requirements are are met to trigger the effect several times. Like when the Wisemane's unit attacks or defends that would mean the player could spend 5 Command Tokens to fix 5 die or Naergon's Rage ability would let him spend let's say 5 Command Tokens to let him take 10 Tinge and let him add 10 to his roll. Personally I think the rules as written are clear because it says "You only need to meet the requirements and spend a command token" which means you could trigger the command skills once with a single token once the requirements are met. Not multiple times. What are your thoughts on this? If multiple uses of command tokens are possible Naergon could one shot pretty much every single unit in the game between his attack roll(or even defense roll) + 10 or more (just limited by your command tokens) and the possible tinge roll, which would not be healthy for the game at all. Edit : with certain lists up to 11 Command Tokens which would convert into 22 Tinge/22 hits are possible.
Command tokens are a finite resource. I think you would have to be desperate to spend them all at once on those actions. The Wisemane's command ability is very strong and it could win games in specific scenarios, but I do think the Northern Alliance has other uses for its command tokens before considering such actions, such as using the Double activation abilities they have. As for the 11 Command Token list using Naegron as a sacrifice, its extremely desperate. You have to tie up about 195 or your 250 points in a faction that relies on its troops to capture objectives. Not to mention sacrificing Naegron removes some of your Conquest. I am not saying his command ability bad, but I don't think it is always going to define the outcome of a game. I'm sure if it becomes a problem they will errata it, but I don't see a problem with those two specific abilities at this time.
The thing is you don't need to spend 11 Command Tokens. It's an option to just delete any unit in the game including any characters inside that unit. Hegemony can easily reach 8-9 Command Tokens or more without forcing anything. In best case the Hegemony player can spend 5-6 tokens on an attacking unit like the Battle Scarred + a beefy character. That are 80-90 points gone. A third of an army killed by a 15 points character and 5-6 command tokens + stress. The Wisemane is also insanely strong because he can fix a full dice roll. I don't think this is intended at all.
