Strawman argument. No work place ever (at least here in Britain) would say that they’re firing you until you’re hired again. At most they’d say you’re being made redundant and you could reapply but there was no guarantee. The legal ramifications of your fired until you’re re-hired are too great. At any rate the two statements aren’t comparable. You’re using a strawman to argue your point.

Funny you are asking: they can tell whatever they want.

I'm not fired until I get it in writing.
And if I have the slightiest suspicion they haven't followed the law to the letter, I can contest that firing in court. Which can then rule said firing to be ineffective. Meaning it hadn't, legally speaking, happened, and I had the job the whole time.

    Been there, done that.

    Stop using false equivalencies, man.

So what you are saying is unless CB gives us a contract in writing about sectorials coming back they are not coming back because they can tell us whatever they want but that doesn't make it true?

Seems you are defeating your own point because at the moment those sectorials are gone and they are not coming back because, you know, they can tell us whatever they want

What I am saying is that you are using a false equivalency to start with.

Which makes whatever line of reasoning you build from that point flat out invalid.

Also a strawman argument. You’re now arguing your point by putting words in other peoples mouths. Try arguing your point from actual facts not anecdotes, plain incorrect and made up quotes and false equivalencies.

HA. Here in Spain is typical. "We need to reduce the workers, so we fire you but we will hire again in a couple of months" (usually they dont).

But teachers is usually that way. They fire you during summer and hire again from september to june. And repeat

Then I’m guilty of living in a country where if they do that to you and you take the employer to court you’re essentially set for life. I will amend my previous post.

I don't get how a metaphor is a strawman argument.

It’s a strawman argument as it has no relation to the point being made. It cannot be equated and is being used as a jumping off point for that argument. Metaphor or not, it’s a strawman.

The armies have been furloughed, and will be eligible for UI benefits with job-attached status for 16 weeks, and UI benefits with work search requirements for 10 weeks after that.

It's not a metaphore, it's a (loosy and sophistic) comparison. Irrelevant then.

Yeah... Happens all the time in Russia. You are laid off, usually with "seasonal ebb and flow in qualified work demand in our local area, with this we can not afford to keep you on payroll, but we will hire you when the season rolls over and we yet again are in need of your qualification".

They do not, because it is much cheaper to hire young specialists fresh from the universities, for quarter of pay, and you can not take them to court. Well you can, but that will lead nowhere, because they can do that thanks to local laws, which states that the specialty not required by professional standard certificate (for example, school psychologist) to be in school, are optional and may be hired and fired as needed as long as it does not interfere with educational process.

And it happened to me several times, I was not on a timed contract, teacher and school psychologist by trade.

So this argument have legs to stand on, it just is made in bad faith.

Better yet to ask - will they be in the game at all, yay or nay, and why be so ambiguous about it?

I read this threats (here and on FB, and disc... and everywhere...) and there is so much anger... partially justified, but sometimes just... disproportionate..
    And since we are already doing questionable comparisons;

Sometimes i think: How do all this guys feel who play FIFA.... or Call of Duty.... With every year a new version of the games is released, which they have to buy....again.... for 70 Bucks or so. And all the Lootboxes and gatchas and weapon skins and legacy sh*t und colors for virtual players footwear ., short: a sh*tload of money spend for not even real goodis that are just... well ...gone. Because a new release means another turn on the gacha weel, another start of "look at that totally unique and just for limited time accessable bunch of pixels in a different color!" No way of keeping items u paid for in the last version of the game.
Well, yes, of course i can still keep playing an older version of the game.... sure...you can. But with whom?
Naah, defently another dumb example which has nothing to do with that :-D

I play infinity since more than a decade. I still play minis i bought back then. Now. IN N5. Ofcourse i lost Units. I have too much Magister Knights and Order sergeants to ignore that once they were staples and now they are shelfed. I also will bring my NCA to the rest till (hopefully, and i dont have any assumption not to think so) they will get new rules and will be playable again. till that, i have options to play smth else. And if not? Well, ten years are a long time for a relativly small investment. My steamlibrary is dramaticly more expensive just counting stuff i never installed once.

This shall not belittle the anger of people, whos army is not playable anymore. I understand that. I lost 1 GW Army and one whole GW system in my TT-carreer, plus different little systems which never had a promising long life, but looked cool. I made my decisions and now i play infinity. I am not a hundred percent in agreement with how CB monouvers out of the dead end they drove themself into with a bloat and spam of units profils. I knew, the cut will hurt and some more than others.
But i am also excited how it will turn out, and the last years of playing a great game on big tournaments and small groups where everyone had a horror story of "what CB sucks at most" showed me: at the end of the day, everyone enjoys playing the game, most of the time. So.... i cannot be that horrible like some people in here scream and shout and wave torches and pitchforkes.
Yes, it sucks to spent money and hours oftime assambling minis and paint them. I feel sorry for you if that part of the hobby is that painfull for you, that you see it as a punishment that needs to be done to play the game. I realy dont understand you.

And also keep in mind; The money u pay for the minis are *not just* because they have rules. You pay for them because (unlike the fancy color of a knive u wild in an online game) it is real material. Real Material pressed or printed by real mashines, that need real space to be storeda nd shipped and sold. (yes yes, weapon skins need space on servers and someone has to shuffle the 6 didged color code.... i know)
I pay for a modell that happens to have rules to play with. You dont like the modell? Fine. Proxy it. It´s not GW. U dont have to buy the ugly fck because you want to win. You can buy ANY OTHER MINIATURE. Or even pick one you had to shelf previously.

....i talking myself into babbling... I think i made my point clear.
CB is interested in making money. That is the biggest purpose of a company selling ... well.. anything. If they would be so bad at their job like some people here brag about, i wonder how people still are on this site buying minitaures, playing the game and dont get tired to have fun with it.
I like how this is going, even with an army and minitures and lists to go.I am excited about the new. not hyped, because i´m getting old. But i like leaving my comfort zone and try smth new. Maybe some in here should too?

Company does not make money if tha playerbase is not happy. And make figures unplayable is not the best way to achieve that

Not a single miniature was made unplayable. You will have to admit it at some point, and we'll keep repeating it until you do.
Also, you shouldn't mistake a small minority (angry people) from another tiny minority (forumers) of all players for "the playerbase"."The playerbase" seems overall quite happy, considering the sales.

Ok, i'll rephrase that. CB made profiles unplayable

You have access to the sales numbers? Would you mind to share? Or you are simply assuming things?

CB are selling you miniatures, not profiles. They don't owe you anything here.

I don't need numbers, I have two eyes and a brain. Corvus Belli are around for more than 20 years and they are expanding like crazy. N5, Warcrow, Kickstarters, boardgames, books, TV show, etc... Not exactly what you would expect from a company crashing because of low sales. I'm not just "assuming things", I'm making what's called an "educated guess". You should try! :)

Then, "The playerbase" seems overall quite happy, considering the sales. From the moment of the creation of Infinity until now. And because you are not bringing data, is just speculation.

Educated guess: I dont have data or knowledge, so im gonna guess.

If you simply do a quick search, you'll found that those succesfull kickstarters, only the first one was really a huge success. TAG raid got 60% less money and backers than Defiance, was poorly managed during the production, leaving CB credibility on minimuns. And all i see about tag raid is people selling the materials trying to get profit. No one is playing the actual game. And warcrow was a bit better in terms of money and backers, but again, far far away from Defiance, and still, poorly managed and comunicated. The stimated arrival date was delayed too many times since the original one. People are tired of that poor communication about what is happening with their pledges.

Boardgames, one dead, in process of revival and the other launched with almost no publicity.
Books, i dont know, they dont sell them here, so i cant make a word.
Comics, mehhh. I always see people in forums asking for scanned versions. People dont want to buy them
Warcrow, launched at the same time than the biggest competitor ever in fantasy wargames, with bland desings, uninspired lore, in a material universaly disliked among corvus fans and with a system that almost anyone like, propietary dices. Wow, such a genius move

TV series. They were extremely lucky that the director was a fan of the game and wanted to make a series, but still not announced by any streaming company, so no one has bought it ATM.

So, in the end, yes, they were good, because playerbase was happy. Until N5 and the transition from friendly small company who cares about their players to a greedy company that want you to simply buy the newest staff and that dont have a jewel anymore. Is all about having the latest thing if you want to win.

Last time I bought a CoD game, they still had quality singleplayer campaigns and the excellent, highly replayable Zombies modes. Since they started acting like free-to-play mobile game casinos, I haven't bought them for basically the reasons you've stated above. Unfortunately, one whale on Genshin Impact pays more than ten full-price console game sales. The thing about Infinity is that it cannot get by on whales alone- without a free-to-play miniatures range, even the biggest spenders need opponents willing to make a significant buy-in. Trying to force sales churn on people paying the bare minimum could kill entire smaller communities; as much as I hate it, going for a power creep approach while leaving old products on rules life support is probably better than cutting old units altogether- I refuse to believe developing and especially maintaining Infinity's actual profiles is in any way expensive, most corporate Twitter posts would frankly take more effort than filling in a unit card.
I can see why the cuts become necessary and I'm willing to give CB the benefit of the doubt as long as they learn from these mistakes. Consolidating excessive profiles isn't necessarily a bad thing if done well, Kestrel could be good for PanO, and Vanilla's reduced range makes it more approachable. But if I keep seeing new *BUY NOW* Characters and Mercenaries jammed into every faction whenever CB wants to try and sell a secondary product again, bloating the game and forcing another round of cuts, they'll never see another dollar from me.

    Just like Call of Duty.
