on the Jayths thing, iirc they used to have nimbus grenades in their kit (remember those?) - it helped situationally (not enough, but it helped) and was also kinda on theme as xenotech-alternate-to-smoke. But then they lost them and then fell into this weirdly hard to use spot they're in now. A rework of some kind would be great to see. Can totally imagine skiavoros is gonna disappear or get some kind of minor rework, but I'm not optimistic. I'm more optimistic about the sygma troops getting a re-do, but id imagine it won't be soon. I'd expect that to come alongside some future tohaa nonsense in the fluff, maybe with more army crossover like what happened with the grief. Also, side note: I can't help noticing that the team achilles stuff in the generic list is in the same section of the document as where reinforcements are in other lists. It makes me wonder if that's their role, particularly given achilles is often written that way in the fluff (as in, in most of the stories he usually arrives after a battle has started, and then singlehandedly turns the tide)
Do you think CA could use / needs another S2 HI (that is not Morat)? Something in the 30-40pt range with both basic- (combi / multi rifle or plasma carbine) and SWC weapon option, and AVA 3-4-5. Some general, more abundant HI. I was thinking along the line that: PanO has the ORC, Griff, practically every knight sans the Sepulcher Yu-jing is well yu-jing... Nomads have Brigada, Riot GRRRL, Hollowmen Haqq has Jannisarry and Asawira (the others are more specialised / SWC weapon only / high-end) ALEPH never really got regular HIs (AVA1 proxy, greek heroes, Asura) until the arrival of Hoplites and finally O-12 has Beta, Gamma and Silver Rovers. So something like an ARM3-4 STR2 beefy Unidron, Gwailo with increased AVA and SWC0 options or even an Ectross! This way vanilla and SEF / Onyx could have some more staying power without compromising on Morat inclusion.
They are also getting a BS 14 Plasma Rifle in the form of Teucer. That should do some work if he keeps his Mimetism-3 and MSV 1. Edit: I meant Plasma Sniper Rifle. That is such a dangerous weapon.
Oh!! That’s exciting! Did they confirm that Teucer is getting a Plasma Rifle in the vid? Haven’t had a chance to watch it yet. I’m really excited for this. When I played Aleph I would often take Teucer because I really liked his toolset. And he felt less op than Atalanta who I often felt guilty for taking because she was so hard for my opponents to deal with that I’d just watch they’re disheartened expressions and immediately feel regret for bringing her. So I started swapping to him and that always felt better. He was strong enough as an aro piece without being too OP especially against newer players. Whatever form he and his friends take, it will definitely be interesting to see what they bring to the table.
Maybe for Onyx? The others wouldn't get anything like that - morats already have it, shas don't really work that way. Onyx tho? Yeah, for sure, I can totally see that. Either a sygmaa troop, or a rempres platform that's a midpoint between unidron and overdron/xeodron. Something like hollow men or betatroopers I'd guess. I'd actually love if they leaned into exrah stuff a little more. I always loved their fast + tough + elite + fragile kinda vibe, and they could totally do something that plays off of a bug's exoskeleton and give them a power suit for an extra wound and extra armour, but still have the unconscious = dead racial thing to make them a real risk/reward sorta unit.
I caught that too when I watched it! Very nice! Probably my favorite weapon behind the regular plasma rifle. I when I Started CA I thought the unidron PSR was such a cool unique unit. Yeah his base bs is 11. But throw marksman on him and he’s a top tier shooter. I mean, no visor or viz mods, but he was a super fun unit. Getting Teucer with a PSR is pretty wicked.
