IIRC it is a MAS one and has started crumbling to little parts.

It is more than a decade old though.

I had similar experince with sevral DeepCut ones.
Apparently the foam used is not handling heat well.
In my case no direct contact to sun but stored in my room (rolled in the transport bag) during a heat wave.
As much as I love their products, it was a big disappointment.

Well, my sympathies to you both.

Seems the temperature is a limiting factor.
On the other hand, getting 10 years of use out of a product like that - not too shabby either, I guess...

I can see the temperature be a thing, mind you it endured several Greek Summers.

Yeah, neoprene as a general rule only lasts around 8-10 years (in theory it CAN last longer, but I've yet to see it). Something to do with the rubber used in them. I've had several wetsuits start to crumble after 8 years of use (and that's with treating them properly - rinsing them in fresh water after use in salt water, hanging them to drip dry, not folding them) and keeping them out of direct heat (not storing them in a hot tin shed). I've got 2 neoprene mats that I've had since 2019 atm - one is a Frontline gaming one, the other is a gamemateu quarantine zone one. Both get rolled up when not in use, but I also take them out every few months and hang them in the shade after I've looked them over.
