im sure it had been discussed, but cant find it…
Is there any big difference i dont get except that

    Parachutist:

    • Cannot deploy within the enemy Deployment Zone (unless using Parachutist Deployment Zone).
    • Surface Contact: Must be deployed on a surface in contact with the edge of the table.
    • Does not need a PH roll.
    Combat Jump:
    • Requires a PH Roll to land. Failure means redeploying in the player’s Deployment Zone and losing Marker State or Decoy options.
    • can be deployed anywhere on surface, even in enemy deployment zone…

Yeah, those are the big differences.

Parachutist have a very limited section of where exactly they can drop in, which is easy to place troops overwatching those. They also always drop on the flank (or in your own table edge which would pointless), far from the center of the board meaning if they need to reach a console, it might take 8" or more of movement. They usually can't parachute on a building (depends on how players wants to play it).

Combat Jump can drop anywhere, even in the enemy DZ, making it hard to overwatch all possible landing spots. It can drop near an objective. It can drop on a roof. It is so much better, that you have to actually make a roll for it, as a way to balance how better it is.

Failure requires you to deploy along the table edge of your deployment zone, specifically.
