I'm struggling to use uberfalls well and looking for advice. Last game setup (I know this is hard to assess after the fact, but general advice is welcome): Chimera and one Pupnik are in eclipse close to Morat haris with Kaitok and a couple other Morats with like combis and SMGs or something. There was also the Morat sniper-dude overlooking the area. I wanted to delete some orders, but figured anything that came out of that eclipse was going to get deleted too. So I ran the Pupnik out to try and take out the Kaitok, forgetting they're actually not that impressive in CC (Kaitok made its save, and chain rifled Pupnik off board), while the Chimera hid. Then I ran out of orders and Chimera wound getting killed in Morat turn. What would be good tactics in this situation? Charge both into Kaitok? Something else?
I sometimes struggle to be effective with them at times as wel. Not great odds, but you could've attempted spec fire eclipse on 10s in good range. Probably better use of orders to move to the very edge of eclipse template, then dodge out, then charge your full 6 into whatever you perceive to be the biggest threat. In my meta its that horrible yaogat sniper.
If the eclipse template was close enough you can always dodge into silhouette contact, throwing another indirect eclipse is a possible tactic, but Chimeras are pack hunters, numbers give them the Burst that makes them extremely deadly., did you just get one Pupnik or the others were killed before?
Move to edge of smoke first short skill, dodge second short skill. Assuming you succeed the dodge, you can shift the Chimera out of the eclipse zone and then move/CC with a new order. It's a suicide mission but it will likely get a kill. Otherwise, play defensively and try to get the Chimera on a roof to attack next turn or force your opponent to chew orders removing it. Prone Pupniks dodge engage in ARO is quite annoying. Despite them being very effective in CC I have always found them finicky to use and potentially very good at wasting your orders.
It's a funky list with just one Pupnik (literally at 300pts. with no fat to trim) Yeah, I think the dodge out of eclipse into CC sounds right, even if only the Pupnik makes it (dodge on 19s) then I just leave him in CC w/ the Kaitok for my opponent to spend orders on. I think I just over-extended and was trying to get into CC AND get the kill The good news was that they got up there and eclipsed to block LoF to Bran Do, who was then able to safely snag an enemy HVT for Evacuation, so they're main goal (get me 2pts.) was accomplished Thanks all
You could have considered just leaving them there for the opponent to deal with. By charging in, if you spend one order and about 20 points to hopefully cost the opponent one order and about 20 points you haven't gained much. Spend your order more efficiently elsewhere and your opponent might have to waste 2 or 3 orders getting through that 19 dodge on the pupnik, even better if he can dodge into base to base so the kaitok can't do anything without first wasting orders on CC
