Im thinking of a Haris-Team of DropBearers and what they could do with some baggage bot and forward deployment…

    here i what i understood:

1.) Because throwing the DropBears isnt a movement skill, only the Leader will do the throwing skill.

2.) The +1 Burst will apply to the thrown DropBear
    Either

2.a) There will be Burst to the single DropBear deployed, when activated?
    2.b) there will be 2 drop-bears deployed?
2.c) none of the above, but than what?

Thanks for your help, Thoughts and or knowledge ;)

It's a Burst 2 BS Attack that's targetless so you pick two points on the ground that you roll for separately just as if you were doing any targetless BS Attack

If both succeed, you place two dropbears.

You know how you can split your burst between targets when you shoot them with a weapon?

You're doing the exact same thing just your targets are points on the ground that don't roll dice back at you.

Thanks! That make sense although i feel a bit stupid now :)

Anyhow, this is great though because it creates the possibility to deploy two dropbears with only one order when in a Haris Fireteam.

Remember that in ARO you cannot split Burst, so your linked "Beardropper" will roll 2 dice but if they both succed you spend TWO ammos but place ONE token

Hmm… either not dropbear as ARO or have baggage nearby :)

Tangential question: Can one fire a Pitcher in ARO?

I had been assuming that Targetless weapons could not be used in ARO, but now I see this line in the FAQ, from July 2023:

"In the Reactive Turn, LoF to the Active Trooper is required when using a Targetless weapon."

So clearly using Drop Bears in thrown mode is legit as an ARO.

Is firing Pitchers as an ARO legal too?

That would definitely change some things.

Smoke Grenades are also targetless and can be used in ARO, so....
You can use a Pitcher in ARO as long as you can draw LoF to the intended target (place, not a Miniature)- and it might not give you a FtF roll.

Smoke grenades have a specific exception/description in the rules allowing them to be used in Face to Face though.

It was my understanding that this had to be added because Targetless weapons (or maybe just Targetless Non-Lethal weapons?) cannot otherwise be used in ARO... but I very well could be wrong.

Reading the rules closer, it seems like Pitchers -can- be shot in ARO, but only as a Normal roll (since there's no effect which would create a face-to-face roll here).

Can anyone tell me if this seems solid? @wes-o-matic any thoughts on this?

Targetless weapons can be used in ARO, but you can't split burst in ARO, and you must have LoF to an Active trooper to use them (though you don't have to target an active trooper)

If you're targeting a point on the board it can never be a face to face as it means you're not directly affecting an enemy. Smoke has an explicit exception for attacks whose LoF passes through the template.

Thanks for confirming that. Yet another example of something I've been doing wrong for quite a while, apparently.

Yes. You just need to be able to declare and perform a BS Attack against an Active trooper within your LoF.

Do you have a source to support the placing of one token and expending two ammo?

How do we know 2 dropbears can not occupy the same point?
I would only mean that if an enemy fails a dodge or doesn't dodge they take 2 saves instead of one.

Thinking about this FAQ and if the second dropbear would follow a similar principle of being deployed in another legal location.

Q: When using Place Deployable and declaring where the Deployable will be placed, what happens if a Trooper moves into that space before the Conclusion of the Order?

A: The Trooper that declared Place Deployable may place the Deployable in a different position (still following the Place Deployable rule), and if this is not possible, the Deployable will be lost.

Are you really going down there?

Sarcastic answer: because small even if they like to hug, they don't stay so close

Serious answer: is there anything in the game that once deployed can occupy the space of something else?
What is a Drop Bear? It is a Deployable weapon https://infinitythewiki.com/Mines#Drop_Bears
What is a Deployable Weapon? It is a game element with its own attributes https://infinitythewiki.com/Traits#Deployable
Is there a Silohuette (S) in the Attributes of a Drop Bear? YES. It places a MINE token that has Sx
Can two game elements occupy the same space? NOPE. Only if they are of the same alignement and only while moving. Ending in the same position is prohibited. https://infinitythewiki.com/General_Movement_Rules

Are we good with the silly questions?

Please, don't be offended by rules questions. You don't have to answer them, If your not in the mood, but this is the place to ask them. Beginner questions, advanced questions and those in the middle of it. Calling questions "silly" is disheartening for people, who try to get into the game. And you may have a history with some characters here, but your reaction doesn't explain it. Your just acting inappropriate in front of others.

The reason I asked is that there is a precedent for placing a deployable when that space becomes occupied later in the same order.
As noted in the FAQ if you attempt to place a mine but that spot is occupied at the conclusion of the order then you place it somewhere else.

That FAQ applies to anything placed with Place Deployable. It doesn't care what type of equipment it is.

When it comes to Pitchers and Drop Bears (remotely), those equipment use BS Attack, so the FAQ entry does not apply to them at all. I'd say it's pretty clear it is unknown if you are allowed to declare burst in excess of what you can actually place on the table, but it is clear declaring 2 or more burst on the same spot will not allow you to place more than one item there since the only allowed spot for them to be placed on is the table centred on the spot you shot them on.

Keep in mind that the game rules rely on simple newtonian physics. E.g. they never defines down, they assume you can tell. Similarly, the rules never define two physical objects existing in the same spot, with the exception of the General Movement Rules. This does not mean you're able to place two physical items inside each other because it is still safe to assume no human is able to do this casually at a game table.
