Thinking about getting a painting event going in our version of the Infinity Global Week. I have a couple of local painters who regularly do general painting workshops with some GW models donated by the local importer. Using GW kits gives them a bunch of similar/identical models to work with as a workshop usually needs to work well. For infinity, getting a bunch of similar models isn't as cheap and isn't as usfull since people don't play the same force and so on. So I'm thinking we do a scenery piece such as a commercial advertising sign (fluorescent paint tutorials!), an objective F13, or even and HVT? Like the TechBae model from some time ago. Would any orgenizers like to do something like this? Get a custom 3d design we can print, or mdf we can laser cut localy?
There are several options, depending on the number of people participating in the event, you've mostly pinpointed what are the options for 3rd party models, so I'll list the ones I can suggest using CB models: 1. You can split one or several of the troop boxes that has four models from the same troop. For example four riot grrls, four zhanshi, four taighas... They are usually pretty similar albeit not GW-level of similarity. Taighas are actually rather good, because everybody can use one to represent a QAZ creature and their cost per model is less than 9 euro. Admittedly, this is twice the cost of an intercessor, yeah, but CB's cost per model of basic troops is higher and there isn't much we can do about that. 2. You can split the objective box, which has a total of 18 objectives at a cost of less than 4.5 euro per model, which is intercessor level of cost. Models are not identical, but will offer similar options for fluorescence, lighting etc.
