Considering reinforcements hit the mainstream and got added to most factions, except for us, what other things do you rarely if ever include in a list? For myself it Lobos, Diablos, Wildcats (other than the occasional spitfire), and the poor Iguana. Alright, and the Mobile Brigada. I think a lot of issues stem from this. This right here. Wildcats, Lobos, and Alguacil should be able to form a pure core. MB should form their own link with Evaders and Tsykons. Jaguars should be (Correctional). It would really encourage their usage. Just my thoughts after having shelved CJC for a while and why I don't play it in favor of other factions that just perform the same roles better.
I've never played a Raveneye or Lobo. Played Wildcats plenty (HRL is amazing) and MB are tough as nails. Evaders and Tysklons can link with MBs, they just don't get full link bonus (because they're very different units) Why would Wildcats link with Lobos and AGs and stay pure? They are very different units with different backgrounds The Iguana continues to suck
Let's go over these. HRL is good. Spitfire NCO is neat. How about the rest? MB, it's durable, but not outstandingly so, and it shoots ok. It's also really expensive for what it brings. Evaders and Tsyklons can link with them, and they should get link bonuses. Using fluff to try and deny links is nonsense, look around at the sectorial fireteam lists available. Hell, look at NA2 stuff. Do you think Druze counts as is because they are highly trained operatives used to working in a fireteam with Druze? Nah, it's there for game balance. Same thing here. Additionally, I don't think it's much of a stretch for a heavy infantry assault force to bring along an engineer and heavy combat remote. Actually that seems really sensible, like something they should do. Lobos and Diablos are just sitting out. They exist for no reason. Give them a reason by making it a reasonably good way to build links. Raveneyes are amazing, hence not mentioning them. God are they good.
I mean, this is all opinions and anecdotes, but... Having Wildcat HRL in a four-man link makes them an amazing ARO & Active piece. 2 shots with HRL, Sixth Sense, MSV1... pair them with 2 AGs and a Daktari for < 60pts. is pretty good. And if they die... it's ~60pts. gone... oh well (it's actually 27pts. because everyone else should be hiding) MB have the best armor of any basic HI in the game. They are workhorses with bland stat line that can survive a LOT of damage (BTS sucks, but that's why you take the Tinbot -6). An MB with a boarding shotgun (or multi-rifle/flamer) can move across the board and take a lot of hits and then blast shots/templates on all kinds of units. Why Evaders and Tsyklons can't pure-link with MB is a designer decision... maybe it's a balance thing, maybe it's a fluff thing, maybe it's an oversight. But CJC already has some of the best/most link options in the game, so there are bound to be combos that players want, but they have to cut it off somewhere. And the link option is there (the heavy infantry assault force CAN bring along an engineer and heavy combat remote) it's just not 100% optimized. Lobos & Diablos - every army has underutilized/suboptimal units.. again there can't be all links for all players I've never used a RavenEye, so can't really comment. Mostly I just don't have the model, so don't field it
I have a long time to play Corregidor, funny enough I am just starting to come back to it, RavenEye is the single profile I have no intention on using in CJC, great for MO, but for CJC?
I mostly look at it from CJC's perspective... "Who the F#IK is this guy, comin' here, trying to lay down 'the law'?!?"
Things I never use: Bandits. If I want a camo specialist in the midfield that I might not need until turn three, I can't afford him to be irregular and not provide an order the other two turns. If I want a close assault piece turn one, I take Carlota, who starts right in the enemy's deployment zone. I love the Bandit design, but I can never afford them. Contributing to the Wildcat and MB conversation: Wildcat Lt is the only halfway cheap, unhackable Lt that doesn't cost SWC in an SWC-heavy sectorial. I still find myself taking a lone MB BSG Lt as a late game active Lt more often, but I don't always have the points. Also, MB Tinbot (-6) in a core with Jazz is just mean.
I tend to find hellcats really hard to slot in. Also second the above on bandits. Can't remember last time I ran one
Third on Bandits. I loved them and love the minis, but the stupid Booty rules completely soured me on them. Now it's Morans, or if I have the points a Sombra. I too have done the 3rd-turn MB LT BSG charge. It's surprisingly effective and he always goes down in a blaze of glory :)
The MB Lt. and occassionally a MB Hacker/BSG Tinbot are the profiles I find myself taking. However, usually it's the Lt. and then an Evader AP Spitfire Engineer + Tinbot, Jazz, Daktari, and somebody else. That said, I think Infinity players fall into a place where we say, "Well, I sometimes use one of these profiles so that means all them are fine". Sadly they are not all fine, there are a TON of profiles that just get ignored and go unused. I completely forgot that Bandits exist. Love the models, never use them. Morans do that job just fine. As for the Raveneye, it's a 12pt corner guard with minelayer, it's cheap and efficient for blocking off parts of the board. Geckos, I love them, but I rarely take them except in casual for fun lists. Same for Lunokhods (could probably use FD or STR2) and Tsyklon exists just to deliver Pitchers. I honestly think they did good with the Vostok and just removing all the unused profiles from the game.
Well, that's a problem for every faction, not just CJC. If we were to talk about individual loadouts, oh boy, I don't even know where to start. There are so many that are simply useless. Why? Sure, they have been usurped by the Gator, but the MMR Gecko is still a beast imo. I agree on the profile. I don't like that they made it a wildcard in each of the Nomad sectorials though. It's basically the best Haris option everywhere, which feels super boring. I don't want a generic remote be the star of every single one of my sectorials.
In CJC I also tend to take the usual "stars" Evader AP SF, Brigada Hacker, Jazz!, Morans ... When I finished new models I give them a try though. Evader FB was a good one. I like to play the Wildcat NCO with two Jags. From time to time a Wildcat HRL or the lt. Profile. KHDs are good to go with the Geckos. Hellcats etc. are hard to fit in because when your fireteams are set, you mostly have points for one or two of the nearly 30 pts. pieces. Vostok is very good but makes the Tsyclons near obsolate. SF with X-Visor, pitches and buffed FB are nice and all but the price difference will lead you to the Vostok again. For non tournament play I recommand to dived your miniatur pool into some list without doubling a unit. That leads to unique and fun list, that force you to play some minis, that already gatherd some dust. And most of the times its challenging and you learn again, what the units give you.
Yea, I just meant unit types for the most part, but it sucks when you have 1-2 of the 8 loadouts that are useful. It's a feels bad especially for newer players. I like the Gecko, I have 4, I just have a really hard time finding a reason to include it. I end up with a Vostok again most of the time. I agree. I really wish they would make CJC the REM centric Nomad faction to tie in with the assault forces theme.
Gecko, Vostok and Wildcat Engineer makes for an amazing Haris. If you need to win a gunfight against most line-troops, use the Vostok with Mk12 and Mim -6. Got a tough guy blocking your way? Use the Gecko's panzerfaust, and when that's out, the MMR Dm 15+AP. Something went wrong? Fix either with the Engineer
That is quite interesting, Tomcats and bandits are units I frequently employ, especially Tomcats entering from the sides been either an aggressor, an objectives grabber or a surprise rescue unit healing repairing units at the flanks. I use mostly KhD Bandid as the main killer hacker on my lists.
Bandits and Tomcats perform really well in my lists as well. I like the KHD Bandit, cheap specialist starting midfield to push buttons and fry hackers easily, while being a CC beast and potentially good at something else with Booty. An 8-4 MOV or ARM 8 bandit is hilarious. The one with Deployable repeater is expensive but can be nasty. Oh, and glueing a big thing from the back with surprise shot is also tons of fun. About the Tomcats, what's not to like about them. They are cheap, reliable and can do tons of differents things. Pushing buttons, killing cheerleaders, demining or repairing/healing almost everywhere on the table (with the Zondcat), defending your deployment zone, etc... It's such an amazing toolbox, I can't remember a game they were useless. Climbing Plus is more situational but super useful sometimes.
