Hey guys, I am looking for insight on this list. I have played roughly 15 games, but am still considering myself brand new since im constantly checking the rule books and learning something new each game. Spoiler: What I own Haqq starter, the beyond box, the support pack, the QK starter, fat yuan yuans, regular yuan yuans, 1x bashi, scarface tag, remote box, kaplan box, armand merc, Leila, and druze box. Here is a list I just put together, My brother in law is who I play against and he has a pretty solid yu jing army, I know the scenario matters for a list but we pretty much roll a die and see what we are playing against, so I guess my question would be, what would this list be good for, if its any good. scarface remotes ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 10 SCARFACE & CORDELIA TURNER . (1.5 | 68) SCARFACE 2 Mk12, Panzerfaust / AP CCW. (1.5 | 51) SCARFACE Light Shotgun / Pistol, CCW. () CORDELIA TURNER Combi Rifle, Chain-colt, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. You're planning to pull off a Smart Missile Launcher list? It's not very efficient usually, but can be made to work with proper support. I'd throw out Scarface for this, move stuff around a bit... (0 | 3) 6 SWC | 299 Points Open in Infinity Army Rafiq + 3x Fanous are one of the best anti-camo and target marking teams you might wish for, they also mesh well with EVO Hacker - if you'll go second start with EVO running Overclock, for Burst 2 Flash Pulses from all four remotes. THey also increase hacking area for Leila. Spitfire Lt. is suboptimal, since you'll want to use him as an assault piece at some point, and that's always risky. It can be a final turn investment, though, and could pay off. Your mileage may wary. Ghulam Doc can't be part of the link unless she drops the Nasmat, and you might want to keep it. You can link Leila, Hafzas and sniper instead. Yuan Yuans are great, but you want to have them in a group with at least few Regular orders to fuel their suicide runs. Al Hawwas are great, period. @Errhile, you're the QK man here, maybe you'll have something to add?
That list looks awesome, im short 4 models though as of now. and yes I was planning the smart missles because my opponent has been pretty set on Yan Huo with the dual missle launchers/tin bot, this is the reason the yuan yuans, I figured for smoke to help move around, Djanbazan with the MSV, and then hopefully get someone up there to forward observe. The last 2 games on totally different table set ups, he managed to post him to cover the majority of the battlefield with a 2 burst aro. rolling 6 dice for armor is pretty horrid for me. At the time he doesnt play to many camo troops. maybe 1 or 2 from time to time. I knew the doctor in the fireteam wont work, my intention was the 3 hafza and 2 ghulams for the fireteam but I see now you can only run 2 hafzas. so I see why you mentioned that. I really appreciate the response, that list seems very interesting and not something I would have thought of.
Is it new haqq starter or the old one? That is, does it come with a Janissary you can use? I think the biggest problem in your list is order consumption. Yuan Yuan like orders and there's 3 of them and only 2 regular orders you can push onto them in that second group. You can, however, include a TAG and SML in the same group I feel like. You can think of it like this, the TAG is consuming the orders, and getting things done, and if your FO:s target something, it's for the TAG. However if the TAG fails, or is not in a good place, or whatever, you can use the SML instead, which otherwise would function as an ARO piece. I think a cheap fireteam with a bunch of FO's looks basically fine. It defends with burst 2 WIP 17 Flash Pulses if I understand the rules correctly, which to me seems pretty good for such a low price.
Well, I've been playing this game for a long time and my archenemy's main army is QK. I learned to respect their flexibility ;) One thing you might want to consider is your terrain density; if one model can cover a majority of the table you could probably use more terrain. Yuan-Yuans aren't very reliable as Smoke carriers, unless you'll ignore their Combat Jump and just place them on table during Deployment. Seems like a waste of perfectly good kamikaze, though. If you want to use Djanbazan+Smoke you're probably thinking about using him during your Active Turn; in this case HMG might be better - its high rate of fire is perfect for active units. Burst 4 should give you an edge against Yan Huo's Burst 2 ARO. Azra'il with AP HMG could work well too. Alternative way to go about it would be to get Al Hawwa' with shotgun up close, and use short range and Surprise Shot to your advantage. If you want to use Scarface and use a brute force approach I'd take things that can help him deal with long rang threats and guard his flanks in the Reactive Turn. TAGs, even the light ones, thrive on proper support: Qapu Khalqi ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 10 SCARFACE & CORDELIA TURNER . (0 | 3) 5.5 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army Scarface's Mk12s have effective range of 24", so you'll want to push him to the midfield and dominate it. When planning on double moving you can move Janissary in tandem with the Scarface - this will both give you a heavy specialist in the midfield and your opponent another potential threat to worry about - things that draw attention from your TAG are always useful. Ghulams and Shihab can help you to clear a way for your heavies by eliminating ARO pieces or forcing them to take cover. They also should cover approaches your opponent can use to get to Scarface. Al Hawwas are another part of that protective screen, as well as good Active Turn units should you need specialists or just Camo unit with a shotgun. Bashi Bazouk is another deadly little unit - when something in your main group dies move him to Group 1 with a Command Token and use him to exploit a weak flank. Kill a unit or two, enter Suppressive Fire behind Total Cover, and make enemy burn orders to deal with your 12 pts Irregular unit (There's also a nasty trick you can pull when using a troop with Holo2 - put him into Suppressive Fire close to building's/wall's edge, but still in Total Cover. At the beginning of your opponent's turn you can automatically place two Holo tokens in base contact with your Holo2 trooper, and write down which one of the three is the real deal. This allows you to move your Suppressive Fire trooper from Total Cover to having line of sight to enemy units without giving them opportunity to react). Regardless of what you do, you want to spend your last orders every turn to retreat Scarface behind some cover and put him in Suppressive Fire. This will force your enemy to burn orders if he wants to eliminate it, having to deal with your long range defense and shotgun infiltrators along the way. By making some sacrifices you can exchange Shihab and Bashi Bazouk for Djanbazan HMG and Yuan-Yuan.
Also, if you're averse to using proxies like I am, consider a KTS spitfire model. A 5-man KTS team is, in my experience at least, never bad.
I have the original starter that came with red veil. Unfortunately no Janissary. Stiopa, what you said about Scarface at the end is great advice that I will most definitely use. (cover/suppressive) I do enjoy using the Hawwa, I can usually make it pretty far with him most games I run him, he is well worth the points. My plan with the Djanbazan is usually from across the table as an active turn sniper, I have yet to use the HMG platform he offers, and the reason for the yuan yuans and smoke is mostly just smoke, I try to deploy them mid field in total cover with good sight lines for smoke. I know this might seem like a waste but if they survive I can usually make a good run to where they are useful because the impetuous order. In that list, is the kaplan dr a decent replacement for the janissary?
Kaplans are nice in general, but I see their Doc as a mixed bag. He's certainly useful in a link, but as a solo piece? I'm not convinced. You have better Doctors and better solo units, so he's not that attractive as Jack-of-all-trades. If I were to swap Janissary for anything I'd probably use either Mobile Brigada with Multi Rifle+LFT, or an Odalisque.
ok I have the odalisque so thats a viable option for me. I personally dont like to proxy troops, its just me, idk why haha I didnt know if having 2 drs was a good thing, and saw you put 2 in that list, thats the only other dr I have I think, thats why I said Kaplan I really apprecaite all the help! I love this game, but its really a learning curve. Like I said every game I learn something new.
That may or may not be the case, depending on what exactly "most of the table" mean. Sometimes it just means the reactive piece is asking for a nice Coordinated takedown. You're killing enough points to justify the cost IMO. Not sure what to use for it in QK lists though.
