I like the non-animal approach but right now it looks quite cute but somehow doesn't convey any creature or danger aspects of the QAZ creature. I'd add some prominences or pseudopodia or parts inspired by radiolaria skeletons (aka. spikes & tentacles) that reach out over the Silhouette a bit. It's a strong resemblance
