    Hello,

We're running the Daedalus fall campaign. And the next on the list is mission 302.

It will be the first time I'm playing with Shas (as I just started them and we allow ourselves to change factions at the end of each chapter), so I'm asking for some thoughts from you Shas madlads :)

Here is the mission: long story short: lot of drop pods in an exclusion zone, objective, open the drop pods, sync as many Civilians as possible and bring them in the DZ. There's a small gap to fit in Speculos.

    PHOTO-2022-11-09-10-20-00.jpg

    I prepped two lists:

This first list is more of a meme list, but in all honesty I think it could do good.

Idea: deploy Speculos is a rather hidden place. Play first. Activate controlled jump, drop all the Cadmus to occupy midfield.

Use the orders to wreck havoc with the Speculos if any easy target. If not, leave them where they are, and push forward the Drone spam to build a repeater network. With so many Decoys with Boarding shotguns and KHD, speculos in the way, my opponent will go very slowly and will struggle in getting Civilians synced.

Turn 2, use Cadmuses and Drones to sync and GTFO.

Group 2 is there mainly as a defensive Core (the Nox Combi rifle is an Infinity Spec Ops) to pick up the Civ closer to my DZ.

To the next list, more standard.

Gameflow: Get the Taighas as forward as possible to occupy midfield, ideally close to the drop pods and impede my opponent to sync civilians.

Push forward but not too much Sheshkin and core. Same for Gwailo and M Drones.

Turn 2 break Core and send Sheshkin in rampage mode, sync with the rest of core. Same for the Harris with the Gwailo.

Play opportunisticly with the Taighas and Speculo

Noctifer to hopefully have some sight somewhere, but not super sure about this one.

What I like about the first list is that I'd occupy midfield first normally. And the mission is only 3 turns, and syncing civilians will be order hungry.

What do you people think? Anything you'd do differently?

I think your first list looks really fun to play and NOBODY would expect triple Cadmus!!! You might struggle with long range fire fights outside 16”, but outside of that I think it is solid for the mission.

Ahah yeah I kinda love it 'cause it's all but what can one expect, but I see some problems (I'm writing as I'm thinking)

    - If I play second the Speculos will be killed (and due to the minuscule space between DZ and Exclusion zone I can't put a mine)
    - If I play first, Group 1 will be very short on orders post Cadmus jump:
----- -1 order from Command token
    ----- "Useless" Lt order
----- -1 order from Controlled jump
----- -3 orders from the Cadmus

    -> only 5 orders to:
----- probably spend 1 or 2 orders + Command Tokens to move the REMs into the midfield.
----- probably spend the rest of the orders on the Speculos to kill someone or put them in a very hawkward position from my opponent (+ minelaying)

    Then the core to move.

But all in all I don't expect to kill a lot in turn 1. Alternatively, I could go ultra aggro, and instead of moving REMs turn 1 and deploying the Cadmus in the midfield, use all my 5 orders (with coordinated orders) on the Speculos and Cadmus to wreck havoc in the enemy DZ.

    Hehe, might be fun

With such a narrow space to deploy the speculo killers, it might be worth it to try and deploy the speculos in the enemy deployment zone. A bit risky on their wip of 14, but could be fun and adds to the unexpected nature of the list.

I just thought about some thing: can I combat jump in the exclusion zone?

If not, that list might really not be worth the shot, and I may use it as a surprise list in a later stage :)

Usually no. But a new season 15 rule allows one combat jump troop to land on any inside edge of exclusion zone including the middle edges without a role. So situationally pretty good if the terrain works out in your favor. Even though it’s only one troop.

    Update time

Made the game yesterday. Went with the Cadmus meme list, with some tweaks.

    Group1
    - Harris Gwailo HRL + Drones
    - 3 Cadmus KHD
    - Evo hacker
    - 2 Ikadrons
    - Mentor

    Group 2
    Core with
    - Spec Op with K1 SR and Plasma rifle
    - Tensho
    - Aida
    - ML bot
    - Hacker Nox

I lose Initiative roll. Opponent decides to go first. Crap…

    I hide all my troopers.

    Turn 1 Opponent

Opponent pushes forward with Group 2 bots, and Group 1 Harris (Haddad, Namurr and Hacker Spec Ops)

Due to a bad placement on my end, he kills my ML Bot with his Harris (Shariff, Spec Ops hacker and Namurr) :( but he over extended.

He opens 3 coffins, 2 dead bodies, One Assistant. Doesn’t try to sync.

    Turn 1 my side

I activate Controlled Jump. 1 Cadmus doesn’t land and goes to my DZ. 2 Cadmus land. I stupidly put one of them in a very stupid spot… So stupid I didn’t even make it hatch. For the other one, I succeed on templating with the Boarding shotgun 3 of his core members and take down 2 Ghulams.

My Spec Ops takes down the Namurr in the Harris with my last order of the group, with the Plasma rifle. Was quite lucky there to put in unconcious state with just one order.

I use all my Coordinated orders to deploy a huge repeater network close to his Spec Ops with the M drones and Ikadron. In the process he isolates two Ikadrons, but not one M drone that covered his hacker spec ops.

    I reform the Harris.

In the process I open 2 crates, but dead bodies.

    Turn 2 Opponent

His Zhayedan kills my Spec Ops. Mukhtar trades with Ikadron. Both die.

    Pushes forward his Sunduqbut

Zhayedan trades with an M-Bot… Zhayedan dies.

Haddad kills my unhatched Cadmus in his DZ.

My opponent got really unlucky as the Mukthar died despite NWI and Zhayedan should have easily killed the M-Bot.

My core is dismantled and have no more CT to reform it.

    Turn 2 my side

I kill both Leila Sharif and his Spec Ops with the Cadmus that was in my DZ via my repeater network. And start opening crates.

    Turn 3 Opponent

    He rescues 2 assistants

    Turn 3 my side

    I rescue 2 assistant and a diplomat.

    Conclusion

I won. However, we forgot to regen the Khayedan… By potentially regenerating, he would have prevented my M drone to sync the diplomat.

All in all, my meme list was efficient indeed, but my opponent got really unlucky with the dice. And forgetting to regen the Zhayedan was huge.

Probably the match should have ended in a draw even if mistakes were done on both ends (bad placement of the T Drone and of the Cadmus on my end, forgetting the Zhayedan on my opponent end), and still, the dice gods were on my side.

    Edit

We actually saw afterwards that you can’t sync with REMs… So it ended up in a draw

    Afterthoughts

Despite being a bit of a meme list. It’s actually quite solid. Even if the usual suspects (Speculo / Noctifer / Sheskiin) are absent:

    - Cadmus KHD can be game changers (they deploy as Seed, so as long as you’re not in LOF, you can kill enemy enemy hackers easily by deploying them close to their ZoC, and the opponent only has bad choices: you template if he CommAttack, you Trinity if he does anything else)
    - Evo hacker control jumps and then can switch to marksmanship on the Missile bot, that becomes a fearsome ARO and active unit by hitting on 18.
    - has enough repeaters to create a very solid network repeater that will be a headache for your opponent.
    - still has some tweaking potential.

Quite happy with this list overall
