Seems like these guys will be making a comeback in the new reinforcement rule. I always wanted these guys and am extremely glad that they will be getting new models. The preview video and a lot of veteran players think that they are good, but I feel they are a bit underwhelming.

Am I missing something about them? How are you planning on using them.

These are why I think they are bad
    - BS12, ARM2/BTS0 and 1W models without mimetism won't win gun fight
    - They will be deployed half board so X-Visor doesn't do much for them
    - They are 19-25 pts, which are okish, but compare to other elite infantry from PanO and other they are kind of bad
    - It's hard to put them in 5man core since you only have 100 pts to play with

Viral is the selling point of the Loup-Garous.
Off the top of my head, they are bringing something no one else have in the whole faction.

BS12 and X-Visor make them good enough for the job, considering they will come in a link.

X-Visor is also useful on the Viral Sniper as you have no negative range band deploying in the middle of the table (the question being, does a Viral Sniper is worth the investment next to a Viral Rifle, but it's still an option) and I'm not talking about other weapon options.

Are Loup-Garou worth it? Almost always,BS12, ARM2 is a pretty decent platform for an almost no frills LI gunfighter they don't look it but in a link (and to a lesser extent solo) they can be a terror. The X-visor makes it harder for them to be engaged at a really bad range, BSG and ADHL cover ranges/engagements the viral isn't suited for and anyone who isn't scared of viral is lying to you and themselves. Would I charge them into a gunfight against Joan& friends and expect success? Absolutely not, but anything LI or MI that's not relying on heavy visual mods they'll certainly earn their pound of flesh.

As a Haqqislam player, linked viral is really good. X-visor rifles are good up 32" and allows you to outrange other pieces. Burst 4 viral is extremely dangerous. Especially since you can drop it in optimal range.

Even with potentially starting on midfield a 16" be weapon can still end up being outranged, so the X-visor da a nice piece of kit for them. Also helps a lot with suppressive fire.

The reason I was concerned with was that I sometime play Hassasin with the 3 Lasiqs link, and they don't do so well most of the time, but seems like every one is positive about them. I'll definitely try them out. It's a bit sad that the box only comes with 2 so you can't core them without proxies, but hope they will look good.

You can get a solid Haris from the box using the Apache though.

Loup-Garous are the miniatures that got me into Infinity, I love them, and am stoked to see what the new sculpts look like.

In a 5 man core fireteam they are pretty good, if not amazing. Viral is pretty cool and the Viral Sniper Rifle is a really nice addition - was super unclear why that profile wasn't added a long time ago, but regardless, it's here now.

I don't really understand the concept of adding Apache (a Warband profile) to them as outside of a 5 man link bonus the L-G aren't exactly that great, and I am not sure how they'll synergize with a WB profile, but probably smarter people than me have already figured it out.

Mostly I'm just stoked to have the Viral Sniper Rifle option now. I bring them every time I play FRRM, for the most part, though I'll admit that Briscards are a bit more robust.

i found the viral marksman rifle very sexy, but choosing between briscards and loups is hard... especially if you want to bring Mirage 5 as reinf

Pretty much the same reason you stick a Myrmidon into a SP link, melee deterrent/ass-kicker and templates; specifically large teardrops as shotguns will already give you small ones.

It's a question of number of troopers in the reinforcement group. Personally I think that the smaller the reinforcement group the more orders (read: activations) you get in your primary army. Three trooper reinforcement group is doable, but you would have to drop the amazing Beasthunter, so that is dealbreaker for me.

    Moblot Reinf HMG
    Moblot Reinf Paramedic
    Briscard Reinf AP Sniper
    Beasthunter Reinf
    98p

deploying a sniper mid table is a bad idea for me. You are not taking advantage of your superior range...

You can deploy it wherever you want including your deployment zone. If different range bands in a fireteam isn't your thing, you can change it to MMR variat.

I can't understand why they removed all the grenades and the LGL non lethal ammunition without a replacement.
It's beyond low effort. But MRRF is used to this careless treatment from CB.

I think these guys are a tad expensive for what they bring. The X Visor is really the issue, in that its a very nice to have, but not really decisive add. With no other abilities, you aren't stacking any modes, not fighting particularly better than anyone. They are just okay.

I think the only profile worth it is the Viral Marksman, but 1 SWC hurts. Mirage 5 is probably the best option in the ref section and I would want that over the LG.

Hate to be negative, but I did get quite a few games in with them and I'm afraid to say that they aren't great at all.
As I feared, they don't win gun fight. Even when used in 5 man core, they aren't very reliable since if you lose even a single gun fight then their effectiveness drops by quite a bit. And after they come in, the Apaches will usually want to run off and do their things anyway.

The only somewhat workable build is the 5 man core to drop grenade launchers on 15, but then Mirage-5 do that better.

I still hope the sculpts are cool and all, but they are probably a hard sell for their points.

As with all things Infinity context is king here, when you say "don't win gunfights" what are you typically (not looking for every single game here but a general overview; LI, MI,HI, REM, Zahnshi, Druze, Janissaries that type of thing) fighting with them? Using what weapons? How was the table(s) set up, light medium, or dense cover?
I'm not saying you can't have a bad run with them, or that they're perfect; but this isn't my own (anecdotal) experience with them and I need more info to see where you're coming from.

For example, I generally found my best chances for success occurred at medium to short range in, on a board with about medium cover against LI and MI without visual mods.

I agree. While viral weapons have high dmg potential, in the current ultrasafe infinity meta, single wound no-mod no-marker state infantry in fullcore is usually not worth it. If TAGs have to think about their alpha strikes with all those hidden deployment missile guys, what hope does single wound light infantry has? The risk of catastrophic failure is just too great.

Unless you are playing classified mission (Countermeasures, Highly Classified) or some other weird mission like Biotechvore, Mirage-5 is auto-include.
