I sounds like some community member who does app design could have something cool to offer Ramper there, maybe for a future release. A tablet version of the worker boards would be pretty cool. Definitely an add-on product for farther down the line though.

Axel mentioned fighters at the beginning of the video.

Oh I -do- get that (you explain it really well though thanks). It just means that the scale of -action- becomes different. It's very much a Battletech vs. Alpha Strike question (or a Wooden Ships and Iron Men vs. Battlefleet Gothic maybe, heh).

The comparison of digital to printed games misses the automation/behavior step. Simplification in board games loses a lot of control, whcih isn't easy to automate without more "rules and tools" replacing whatever you're trying to thin out.

Instead you just produce a second, parallel ruleset like Alpha Strike, and give players choice which level to play at.

The cool thing is that this can be changed via a later release or expansion pretty easily.

That would be SO COOL. Fractaa will finally get some good play!

Sounds interesting, thanks for the recommendation! I tend to play stuff like that when it pops up at conventions, so I will keep an eye out for this one. We have a historical/fleet/armor gamer club in my area, will probably also see if they have it (they have a library of old games, super cool to browse but takes some time to actually play!)

The ships look good. Speaking as an indiscriminate collector of cool spaceship models, I'm on board if the price is not too unreasonable.

I stick with my opinion before (I watch only 10-15 min of the OTT video though) it looks a bit boring. Too much micromangement, too less action on the board. I think I have to undust my BFG fleet

It reminds me of Star Hammer: The Vanguard Prophecy, so it sounds like a well-known game to me, and I'll be a customer on paper.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

I saw that Ramper had answered other questions and made various clarifications, here's a new Q&A wave.

Q: The game looks really good! Thanks for showing it off! One thing I am curious about, are Cruisers planned to be the largest classification of ship you can field in the game? Or can you run larger capital ships like carriers?
    - In the game there will be some bigger ships ;) Also carriers that will put squadrons into play.

Q: What about adding the management of units of Fighters or smaller ships (with their miniatures) in order to have the feeling of having more ships on the table? Less tokens and More Miniatures is always BETTER! :P Other question: Do you plan to add a solo play system to the game? Would be could to try to defend against AI combined army... or to invaded with the Combined army against AI Human Sphere!
    - The carriers are planned. At the moment the squadrons will be represented with Tokens. But we are studying adding 3D squadrons as an add-on. The game supports a campaign mode, one of the stretch goals is a cooperative narrative campaign. We are working on an AI so you can play that campaign solo. It's still early but I think we'll make it.

Q: this is interesting. Will be looking forward to seeing what the Kickstarter looks like for this. Also what was the rough estimate of the playing space you were on? didn't look as big as a normal miniature matchup.
    - From 2 to 4 ships we recommend a space of 90*90cm (same as X-wing) but it is recommended, you can play in a space of 100*80. We will create a table of recommended spaces depending on the number of ships in the game.

Q: The game looks awesome. I know this isn't the final design of everything, but it would be nice if the dashboards had indentations for the cubes to slot into to prevent the cubes from flying everywhere if you accidently bump it.
    - We will add as an add-on a transparent methacrylate panel to place it on the ship boards. Making each ship have its own hole panel would greatly increase the cost of the core.

Q: So... retail release or KS only? I believe it will be retail after a successful campaign
    - It's our idea, but we're a small studio and until we've been successful in financing it we won't be able to see if it will be in stores.

Q: I think this is too much energy/micro management for me personally. I can see they are trying to capture the Expanse feel but just seems more of a resource management game.
    - Once you practice the mechanics the management part is very fast. The important thing is the combat and what strategy you choose to fight.

Q: What scale are the ships? Will games be small fleets as in the video or will there be options for more ships? Finally, will there be obstacles/terrain?
    - To give you an idea, the Panoceania ship measures 4". It is a medium-sized ship.
To play with more than 3 ships it is necessary to play a game with more players per side.
Yes, there will be obstacles of various kinds. With rules to collide with them and for some weapons or game effects to make them move with inertia.

Q: The mechanics involve a small number of maneuvers. Why are the ships so small in size? Larger ships can even be placed on a shelf as a beautiful miniature.
    - Compared to other similar games the ships are quite big. The Panoceania ship is 4" long. The game has some bigger ships.

Yes, most of the time the 4x games in computers allows "ministers" to make the micromanagement, with a baseline automation the player can tweak (so you can leave a city on automanagement, and get a warning if things go wrong).

In wargames there are more options than just different rulesets. Battletech does not only have Classic and Alpha Strike, there's also the full range of options (campaign, aerospace fighters, dropships, infantry, tanks & vehicles, atmospheric vehicles, the RPG, the different eras to limit the available tech, etc...) you can "disable" to reduce variables (also, tournaments tend to go 3-10 models, usually 3-6 or 4-5, with a set value of points, a top year, and official battlemech designs only with no other units to speed things up).

Considering how they want to add AI, a simplified version of the system may well be a must, if only to avoid losing a lot of time into rolling dice and moving things for the "AI player", specially for 3vs3 or the like and there's fighters. Also, simplified rules allow for younger audiences, and old players tend to like to bring their children into the fold (which is also a plus for the company).

Video of the demo game directed by Ramón Pérez in the "Amañecer IV" Infinity Tournament.
    • Amañecer is a wordplay, joining the colloquial name from those born in Aragón (a Spanish Province), which is "maño", and Amanecer (Dawn), because the tournament happens in Zaragoza, capital city of Aragón.
In this demo he will tell us the basic mechanics of Ramper's last game, the company behind Takkure.
    • Takkure is a Blood-Bowl kinda game, with cyberpunk models and aesthetics. Calling Ramper a company may seem excessive, btw, they are very small (think dozen or so people).
The game has an Infinity the Game license, and will be published in Kickstarter this Autumn
    • It says "collective finace project", so to speak, but I'd say it's 99% KS (Takkure has been launched this way), and the date would be late september, if I remember right.
The video is part of a game, a 4 players demo, not directed to the camera, so it's possible it will be boring at times. We've tried to edit the segments in which the players take decisions.

Just so you know, I've added a 2nd set of close-ups from the discords.

    Hello everyone.
I'm Ramon Perez from Ramper Design. If you have any questions, I will try to answer as much as I can.

At the Interplanetario event, around 100 people were able to try the game, and I must say that the feedback has been very positive. The main comments are that the game is simpler and more intuitive than it may seem. You can learn how to play in just one game (there was even a group that wanted to play an extra game after the demos, and we barely had to assist them), and the ships feel big when you hold them in your hand.

We will be releasing more explanatory videos and gameplay in the coming months. We will also be doing demonstrations on TTS (Tabletop Simulator).

Thank you all for your interest, and we really appreciate your feedback and questions.

Can I modify a ship? Like equip different weapons, engines, etc?

That will likely be a possibility, since weapons are listed on cards rather than the ship’s command panel.

Yes, the ships, weapons, and systems will have a cost, and you'll be able to configure your fleet as you wish.

I saw this on a discord by someone who seems to have been at freak war. So, cronwfunding rescheduled from September to October.
