These tactical rocks sure got out of hand. The height is too much, I hope there is a way to fix it... Why is Phoenix even standing like this? Stretching his crotch? Must be a pain to stand on tippy toes like that. I think he should be more like this to look natural
Yes, CB, please tone down the tactical rocks! Or alternatively - make a whole scenic base, just not an almost unremovable and almost inexplicable random object. There are great examples for scenic elements on bases like the liberto, casually fixing a mine with his leg, or Señor Massacre jumping behind some containers, which can be at home in almost any map, or Gata's kitten in Aristeia, ready for a promo shoot. But they all provide fluff or tell a story. The nondescript tactical... something under the penitent or these random metal constructions that we see above hardly bring any value. Sure, the pose can become a bit more dynamic, but often it becomes a bit more awkward instead. And Phoenix up there is a prime example.
I didn't see this before and only now noticed. Not only does he have a Tactical Hydraulic Scenery Element, but also he's got a Tactical High Heel Stone! CB, whatever your sculptors are drinking, make them stop, please. It's almost as bad as the Morat Dangling Balls.
I was against some tactical rocks long time ago. Here is no difference. But that is not all! Here we see weird pose Ike it was with first Mukhtar. Combo! (Well, not the achievement we want to get.) The only thing that is missed here is a sword without a scabbard. But the further - the better) Ok, to be honest, some miniatures look better in real than on preview or photos. This one have a small chance to be this case (this is only hopes)
Female mukhtar is not bad, you can integrate her in almost anything as she is standing on a hatch. Male mukhtar really needs a surfboard under his feet. I don't consider Phoenix as bad as him, but he almost looks like he's dismounting a motorcycle. Only without the motorcycle. And with a steel beam.
You monster. You completely spoiled it Not fond either. Haiduk hiding behind a wall? Yes! Shrouded on stairs? Yes! Varg supporting his aiming on a ruin? Yes! Joan stepping on a dead Samaritan? Yes! Ninja hiding on a ornamental dragon statue (of a roof top)? Yes! Feuerbach Orc posing like a badass on an ammo crate? Yes! Feuerbach Karhu crouching on a stone? Yes! Even Defiance Cadin thingy to allow for a dynamic jumping pose. Yes! When scenery is being used to put forth a pose that provides some context to the unit, that’s a big yes. But all those tactical rocks, that nowadays we find all over the place (HMG orc, HI Sheskiin, Bronze, Defiance Saladin, all Hospitalers, Teuton ML and so on an so forth) aren’t nice. When it’s a tactical rock just so that the unit doesn’t stand on his feet… meh.. I’d take a crouched Kamau HRL, Gangbuster, dynamic (old) Reverend poses, Female Knight of Justice, even running Warcor any day over these convenient tactical rocks. But in the end, it’s nitpicking. It still doesn’t take out the fact CB is pulling out insanely great sculpts, with tons of diversity. And I still prefer these rocks over the repetitiveness we can see in other games
Mischief Mananged for the most of it i would not have a problem with any kind of scenerie, IF it would be attachable. As the lazy prick I am i use premodelled bases, and "stones of variouse size" does not realy fit into an clean urban environment. Not even attached mountainparts would be a problem if the feet would not stand totally of! The Hospitaller are some dishonorable mention here, for their stands is in such odd angles, the moment you remove the rock you have to shoehorn some other weird shit in... I love the modells, but i hate that they brought their own favourite rock-collection with them to town... Don´t get me wrong, this little dioramas look great for the most part (ninja on the roof, for example), but.... well... if your Yu jing army stands on bases that look like rainforrest wildlife, this pagoda-roof-part looks a little bit out of place. I don´t realy know what exactly he is doing there. At first glance i thought he is stepping down from a high surface very awkwardly (i.e. like i would do it) for his left arm seems to catch balance and his coat beeing blown upwards, but that would not fit with the right foot on his toetipps (that would be flat on the surface I would guess) and the wierd angle of the left foot (you dont want to step down so deep and place your foot on a sloping surface. Thats how you break you ankle). Then i thought maybe he is stepping up, but that does not fit with the center of the body, the movement of the coat,... I realy think that someone who is modelling a human(-like) miniature uses pictures or a actuall modell to have some reference on "how does stuff move/look like/behave in which position", but i realy struggle to imagine what the modell is doing atm. Maybe its some moment-shot in midst of a rapid stepping-down movement,... dunno... The rest of the design is amazing, i love the face with the beard, the armor and coat. And maybe it´s just an unfortunate view, we will see.
Well ISS is except for the bao, the multirifle crane und Sun tze a complete range supportes by miniatures. I think it's great. It'snot like there are some glaring holen where a trooper is needed as with the guilang combi/hacker. Some troopers could go with a glow up rules wise (looking at you crane agent) but otherwise i don't need new Incarnations of the troops. the hsien, su jian, wu Ming and crane spitfire are in my humble opinion some of the best miniatures in the whole infinity collection. The bao need a resculpt and could use some less restricted link options. But ISS isn't in a dire need of resculpts or new profiles. I mean i wouldn't say no to another skirmisher for the kanren to holomask as but i enjoy my fully painted ISS Our time in the Focus will come hopefully sometime next year but it will come. Don't give up on hope.
Well, here I have a little different feelings about miniatures you named... but that is ok for us. I like, when some elements are optional. For example, main body isn’t one thing with a crate or so. Or could be easily removed. For example part of terrain like hacker Mukhtar have. You could use her without it. Haiduk could be assembled without wall. I really like universal things like some crates. Because may be there is some ammunition that was brought here by your army. I can easily make base like desert, snow, grass of asphalt. Or even just a base. The choice is mine. There is still a question of logic, how are my unit is moving with it, but I am less worried about it. Irmandinho girl is taking her crate with herself. “What a strong woman! I want to marry her.” x) I hate, when some other factions design included in other miniatures like Shona and shasvastii touching her leg in last moment. I can’t remove him here... but that Is less problem for me. All of tactical terrain elements always problematic in some cases when there is no option to use something without it... Yes! That is it. BUT let me mention thing that I hate without any excuses and where my understanding, that people have different tastes, fades away... TACTICAL ROCKS ON PARACHUTIST UNITS THAT STUCK IN THEIR LEGS! I like poses of all of three tiger soldiers, but I hate, how is leg connected with some terrain for combat jump nyoka, crusher, that floating morat in their Action pack...
Each their own tastes. I get your point but I’m not at all disturbed when the element fits the narrative of the mini (eg Haiduk Sapper —> hiding behind something / Varg aiming on a ruin) About the combat jumps / paras: how could you provide a feeling of « landing » / « jumping » without an element supporting the weight of the unit? You’d need to craft up something by yourself, and not everyone has the time or skill to make a custom scenery. Now I agree some of these poses are absolutely awful (eg: Cuervo Goldstein.. I… I can’t stand it..)
that´s exactly why i would love it to be optional. You have the time + motivation + skill + material + tools to build a special stance for your crusher to not fly/jump over a ....metal beam? Here, do it. Everyone else: take what we offered you to make the mini look dynamic. Best out of both worlds. BUT i can understand that making this thing optional comes with a) the cost of it beeing not as durable as you want it to be (especially if it has to support the whole mini. Looking at you, old Kusanagi) and b) it has to be seperated in the production process, and i am not expert enough to say if thats a huge effort to do or if it is complicated. I think with some minis it would be easily possible to seperate the added environment (like femal irmadino, sombra, female MSR Intruder,...) and others where it gets tricky (female helcat, Nourkias,...) It does not kill me, most of my tacrocks fell victom to my toolbox, but having them optional would be quality of life change.
One of the most beautiful optional parts for me was Aida Swanson faces. She is so lovely with both of them) She could proxy speculo, authorized bounty hunters and so on. That was nice. Oh, I’ve remembered also tactical stone that was ok for me. It was big, but I felt nothing bad. Ko-Dali from booster pack.
Can’t say either how much it would cost to « separate » the mini from the standup material, but I think it’s fair to assume that it would cost a bit more (additional spot in the moulds). But sure, I can’t disagree that for seasoned hobbyists it would be optimal
Wait what? Can you please tell me which mini was it? Didn’t see it was an option on any in the existing models.
Spoiler: This lovely lady https://store.corvusbelli.com/en/wargames/infinity/miniatures/aida-swanson-submachine-gun I cant find proper photos of faces on the internet, but I would make you a photo, when I would be at home.
@Bignoob Look at this Spoiler: Many faces of Aida. The best picture I cold make for now. She is a very optional character, so, it was very strange to see so much attention and options for her, but I like her anyway. And for now she is a bounty hunter in my army. Good example of a small detail on miniature. (I've remembered unit with same lovely face. Speculo. Miniature is in a weird pose.)
I'd have to disagree a bit on ISS profiles. They are a bit lacking in specialists. Their firepower is meh. Fewer than normal Anti-Material weapons. Especially on high AVA low cost troops. I agree that they do currently have some figures for them. But as we know CB has re-sculpted already great figures and not as old. To me Morats were great before. Now I don't like them at all.
But they also have the same hull: And I think - clearly visable weapons are one of the main reasons for REM resculpts, most of the old stuff is tiny as hell (Aleph was on the lead here). They added his Crane version soon after the release of the comic char box. Understandable, but fluffwise I would like to see MI = WB and HI = ISS. Anyway I did not see much use of the HI version in WB. If you want to see it positive, ISS got resculpts for Dakini and Devas lately ;-) Oh - the realy overextend this pose here. I am still not sure, if I ever want a Phoenix. I did not like the old one and this one look only cool from afar. If you start to look at his wired pose in detail you realy start to ask yourself, what they are thinking while modeling. No. At least not in the regular version. I don´t want to play a mini scenario every time (in fact I never played her yet) I field her ... oh I play vs Yu Jing, any Umbras here? Diverse, yes. But Nomads Fireteam Alpha has one of the most uninspired poses. Yes!
They share the same hull with themselves, not with the Zonds as was the case with Peacemaker and Bulleteers who shared the same main body with Dronbots.
Quoting myself on why I really can't paint this miniature and will never be able to take it seriously Please admire my supreme photoshop (paint) skills! sorry for this shitpost, couldn't help myself
