I hope so. But I actually am excited for it too. Especially for new troops. It looks like existing troops might get new profiles and then totally new troops. We now know MRRF is getting the Equipe Argent.

Now what do they mean but new Product Range?

"Reinforcement Packs" with a bunch of minis in variant branding (like Dire Foes/C1/Bootleg) is my guess. Differentiates then from Starter/Action packs and makes it clearer they're an add-on to an existing force rather than a starting point.

I quite like him, but this is the points and slot the killer hacker of Winter Force occupies so he will inevitably get competition, if I made a list with 3 Nokken he would probably get included, but Guilangs are far better in been fielded in multiples in a list that Nokken, I just cannot decide if it is the camouflage or the MSV1 that makes them so attractive.

Honestly, I can't remember the last time I actually used their MSV1. I guess the situation just never comes up.

Probably has a lot to do with local meta, MSV1 has proven to me more useful than I ever imagined it to be.

Adding MSV1 to the unit profile gives them a significant edge when it comes down to skirmisher vs skirmisher situations.

Compared to extremely lean skirmisher profiles such as Zeros, Hunzakuts, Foxtrots etc who are very much focused around being highly cost efficient specialists, MSV1 opens doors for the Guilang to try and sweep the midfield of enemy camo skirmishers under their own steam rather than requiring other army elements to come and do it for them.

Also good for taking out enemy warbands top of 1, since they can't smoke dodge.

Indeed, Guilangs remain one of the best units Yu Jing have and overall.

It may be that I'm not aggressive with them enough but that's usually because I don't want to risk one of my specialists that I still need. I have some really bad rolls and can be a bit risk-adverse.

Dead Horse beat: The Gliglang might be one of the most often taken figures but still no figure other than the BSG in a set of other figures I don’t care about :sob:

That is the issue when you include only one for the job, I have to say though, even with one, if you have a plan for the list working with infiltrating failure, it is well worth the risk.

One of my last games vs Varuna I totaly forgot they have it ... as we checked it turns out (two situations) it turns out that my roll for the BSG was even too high without mime-3 :grimacing:

Too bad - we have no actual combi/hacker profile ... and the sniper still watches the table from a save shelf. Would be cool if the sniper profile goes the way of all earthly and will be replaced by a MMR :sunglasses: I think that would give her much more tabletime.

Even that probably wouldn't do it, Guilangs are very hot AVA for Yu Jing as some of the only safe midfield Specialists. An MMR on a Specialist profile would be very popular, but an MMR by itself is just another more expensive, mediocre gun that probably should have been points saved for the Daofei fund in most situations it would be useful.

But we do? you mean we do not have the miniature for the profile? I use the Multi Sniper Rifle quite often, it is a camouflaged, MSV1, MSR that can be placed anywhere up to the middle of the table, quite a formidable unit even at BS11, MMR would be interesting, but would be an entirely different utility option.

I don't think a MMR would make it have table time unless that profile came with something utilitarian.
Getting the Discount that all the other skirmish snipers have on their sniper rifle might help, though. It should be 27 points, truly.

Dasyus and Zerat are not great comparison examples to be honest, Spektr is a better one.

Whether you think the unit is good is honestly completely irrelevant. Almost all skirmishers got a 5 point discount on their snipers with N4, there's only a few exceptions, but they are all prime candidates for Reverse Bulletteering tbh.
Guilang and Kunai gets 0 of the 5 points discount
The Shrouded and Clipsos gets 2 of the 5 points discount
Croc Men, Trinitarians and Nagas get 4 of the 5 points discount
Everyone else seem to get a full 5 point discount; from JSA Ninjas, to Hunzakuts, to Foxtrots. Frankly too many to name all.

I think about an replacement. The sniper is still to expensive and have low burst to actualy do some good shooting. A B3 24" infilitrating mediocre gun should do this job better. Still no Daofei Level, but good for taking out some annoying low ARO pieces like Flashpulse bots or other Skirmishers from range. While Daofei kann pick juicer - non mimetism - pieces.

Of course I mean the miniature. I have the old one and it has still the old combi rifle (take a look at Varuna, they got all three Zulus Variants in a short time compared to WB which is waiting since the sector not even exist ;-).

The sniper is way to expansive for two shots on 11 vs a opponent in cover. If you managed to pick a target that not answer with B2 you are on 14 with two dice in active. Which is a bit meh for 35 pts.

I haven’t used the sniper in many years.

    It’s not a good shooter.
The infiltration helps a little but not enough.
    It’s expensive.
For the close to the same price I can get better (in vanilla). Knauf, Major Lunah, Haidao. Yes no Infiltration but better in all other aspects.

ZHANSHI MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, CC Weapon. (1.5 | 18)
KUNAI NINJA MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Shock CC Weapon. (1.5 | 34)
CELESTIAL GUARD MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, CC Weapon. (1.5 | 20)
BÀO TROOP MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, CC Weapon. (1.5 | 29)
GŬILÁNG MULTI Sniper Rifle, Shock Mines / Pistol, CC Weapon. (1.5 | 32)
HÙNDÙN MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, CC Weapon. (1.5 | 34)
KNAUF MULTI Sniper Rifle / AP Heavy Pistol, CC Weapon. (1.5 | 32)
DĀOYĪNG (Minelayer) MULTI Sniper Rifle, Shock Mines / Breaker Pistol, CC Weapon. (1.5 | 31)
    HǍIDÀO (Multispectral Visor L2) MULTI Sniper Rifle ( ) / Breaker Pistol, CC Weapon. (1.5 | 33)
    ARMAND (Multispectral Visor L1) MULTI Sniper Rifle, Nanopulser ( ) / Breaker Pistol(+1B), Shock CC Weapon. (1.5 | 39)
SUN TZE v2 MULTI Sniper Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, CC Weapon. (1.5 | 45)
MAJOR LUNAH VIRAL Sniper Rifle / Pistol, CC Weapon. (1.5 | 29)
    BOUNTY HUNTER Sniper Rifle / Breaker Pistol(+1B), PARA CC Weapon(-6). (0.5 | 19)

As mentioned, the Guilang is needed more for being a specialist. He’s one of our few “cheap” midfield specialists. There is NO GOOD reason as to why they have not come out out with a new figure for Years.

KǍNRÈN (Forward Observer) Boarding Shotgun, Flash Pulse / Pistol, Monofilament CC Weapon. (0 | 24)
GŬILÁNG (Forward Observer) Combi Rifle, Flash Pulse, Shock Mines / Pistol, CC Weapon. (0 | 26)
    DÀOFĚI (Hacker, Hacking Device) MULTI Rifle, D-Charges ( ) / Pistol, Shock CC Weapon. (0.5 | 56)
GŬILÁNG (Hacker, Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, Shock Mines ( ) / Pistol, CC Weapon. (0.5 | 30)
NINJA (Hacker, Killer Hacking Device) Tactical Bow ( ) / Pistol, DA CC Weapon. (0 | 29)
HÚLÁNG (Forward Deployment [+8"]) Combi Rifle, Light Flamethrower, E/M Grenades, D-Charges / Pistol, Monofilament CC Weapon. (0 | 41)
ZHĒNCHÁ (Forward Observer) Boarding Shotgun, D-Charges / Pistol, CC Weapon. (0 | 37)
    KOKRAM (Forward Deployment [+8"], Minelayer) Heavy Shotgun, E/Mitter, E/M Mines ( | Deployable Repeater) / Heavy Pistol(+1B), CC Weapon. (0 | 41)
    KǍNRÈN (Hacker, Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, Chain-colt ( ) / Pistol, Monofilament CC Weapon. (0.5 | 28)
NINJA (Forward Observer) Combi Rifle, Flash Pulse / Pistol, DA CC Weapon. (0 | 35)

Totally agree. Knauf is the best buy in vanilla YJ. The Guilang´s (still hoping for a change to MMR) niche is - for example - vs Ariada etc. to keep smoking warbands at bay ... until it get wiped out by the first best HMG.
