Did you know you can re-enter Holomask during a game? You can. But all it lets you do is lie about a profile your opponent already has seen. Suggestion. Allow Holomask users to enter and deploy in Impersonation-2 state. (Without any inherent forward deployment or Holoecho compatibility from this ability!) Why, though? The thing is, once your opponent is experienced enough that Holomask charades stop working, it's all about what the unit underneath the mask is that matters - and most Holomaskers are too fair and short ranged or of too limited use to actually pull off a "surprise" shot. Of course, it doesn't help that most* Holomask units tend to suffer from the "basic premium" curse where they are too expensive to be expendable, but not sufficiently strong to be a primary unit. In theory Holomask is useful, in practice it tends to mostly create headache for the user. Giving Holomask a bit more ability to have an impact by being the worst level of impersonation has, I think, a localised and fair impact on the game. It could also have the long term effect of making units with Holomask feel more premium and useful. * Disclaimer: "most" implies there are exceptions. You don't need to enumerate them. The honourable mention and primary exception is the Hafza, which is cheap enough to be low impact and has a profile with a gun that's real scary to disregard.
This is interesting. In your proposition, is it still possible to deploy as another unit or is it a total replacement of the basic rule ? Holomask is one of those things that rely on bluff / strategy / odds that I really like, seeing it "reduced" to marker state only would be powerful for sure but remove some spice from the skill.
