One of the Kickstarter updates shortly after the RPG campaign finished had artwork of original RPG characters, there are many recognisable ones (Carlotta, Bean Do Castro, Le Muet) some that were later released but ended up looking very different (Cuervo Goldstein, Vassily, Pavel) but Tearlach is not among them. I've not seen reference to McMurrough being an RPG character before but would be interested if there was one.
It's possible to like a character without liking the faction. He said that the Nomads are stubborn outsiders that cause the members of their nation a great deal of unnecessary suffering due to the political beliefs of those that make the decisions. If anything Ariadna is Gutier's pet faction, the backwards colony that rides in to save the day multiple times throughout the history of the Infinity setting.

@colbrook where did he say that? The only thing I remember from him is that he said that the Nomad nation isn't a utopia, and can seem kind of grim in some ways. Unfortunately it ties into Gutier's usual thing of talking down to people; "you're all thoughtless social media drones" etc. Dude's read a lot of Umberto Ecco, obviously.

It was an interview several years ago, I may well be paraphrasing.

Yeah, I remember an interview on this topic as well, but I remember it more like how I said. A pity it isn't easy to access.

In that same interview, Gutier even said Nomads were the bad guys in his campaign.

I'll be experimenting with the Bokhtar and BoomBox going forward but the tweaks and cuts to the other profiles don't really give me an emotional response one way or the other. I've never cared for Govads, the Ayyar I'll have to wait see how the rules dust settles and I don't know who this Yasbir guy is but I don't think I'll be playing him anytime soon.

As a longtime fan of Muyibs, seeing the lean profiles go is a bit unfortunate but the unit will be fine overall. It really only has implications when trying to do the pure core where you want the cheaper stuff to hit 5 after taking your heavy weapons and Leila.

The addition of McMurrough is maybe the most interesting change as far as I'm concerned. I'm very curious how people will incorporate him into lists. I really like the durable, reliable smoke but we have our CC needs mostly covered by the Fiday and we are also already flush with irregular trading pieces.

My knee jerk reaction was he would be almost an auto-include but after a few minutes in Army it became kind of clear adding yet another irregular profile to my lists kind of hurts but even so, I'm a bit seduced by his efficiency.

    Hello!

Yesterday I have, finally, the chance to play a tournament with the last fireteams version for Hassasin. It wasn't a full experience, because we played a 0 SWC extra (funny thing, I encourage you guys to try sometime).

I used 2 list, one with a "barahm" firetam, and other with a more "classic" ghulam (only four members).

The mission were Quadrant Control, Rescue and Firefight.

I played List 1 for QuadrantControl, and List 2 for the other two missions. Variations between both list are small, but they are there.

For the List 1 I choosed the Ayar with forward deployment plus marksman rifle because it allow me to place anything outside the deployment zone, which was too good for that mission. No waste of orders getting there.

I used Ayar as main attack piece for my first and second turn. The thing was like allways, if I was shooting poor shooter, peacemakers with heavy shotgun, techbee, warcor, etc, all was fine, but in the moment I tried to shoot something "hard", like an aquila, multi marksman rifle, my Ayar ended with a wound.

So, I believe the +4'' FW deployment makes Ayar a little better but not enough because we can't forget that his cost has rise up a little. Hassasin have other too interesting options for a few more points or even for a few less, so, it is a profile for only a too narrow set of missions and rivals. Yet I have to test the "hidden deployment" option, but for the moment I have the feeling that my game conclusions will be too similar to this ones.

For the second and third match I used the second list, the one with the bokthar.

I have to say I like it and after the tournament I made some changes to my "classic" list, where I do abuse of tactical awarenes, a first group with 4 of them, plus 10 regular orders, and as a second group 5 irregulars + 2 impetuous. It is a really direct list, but one it could work fine in some missions.

Going back to the games I played, for Rescue Aldjabel did a lot of works taking a civilian and making the Classified Objetive (net undermind). Later my rival was capable of killing Aldjabel so I lost my CivEvac civilian, but Bokthar went wild and kill what was there (not big guys, only a parachutist paramedik and a rokot) and took the Civilian back. With is last order jumped taking covert on the roof of a building (with MOV 6'' things changes for profiles with superjump).

The third match wasn't too useful for taking conclusions because was one of those where dice's were too capricious for me (not my rival neither me had too much fun). I lost my first turn, 7 orders were dedicated to kill the HVT, but all was only a try. After those orders, my whole turn, I did nothing. Both HVTs remain alive. I waste around 14 orders, counting the 3 turns to take down the 2 HVTs. When I tried to kill something my efforts were much better. Even my rival had neither best of lucks. We interchange panzerfaust shoots, daylamis in a coordinated order against his Teuton Lt. Nobody was cabaple to hit (going to 13s,14s...), but his turns were a little more regular. Not fantastic ones. Only more standars in "order expediture vs reward".

So, to make it short: Bokthar FTO could be a thing (probably for one list). Ayar... I'm afraid he will continue being a good proxy for other things.

I have to say too that while I don't see how the "shooter box" we have now can be place in hassasin list, other player bring to my attention some cases where the "box" could be a thing (a nasty one for the rival). I told about missions like powerpack, where the "box" can be place probably in the center of the table, having an AP Spitfire with burst 4 in ARO in range... The match can literally end fighting against the box. If the rival don't foresee this, it could have a hard time making the try to put the ""box"" down.

What are your experiences playing the new things?

Ran this list for our Thursday night gaming sessions against Morat Aggression Force. I wanted to give the Sunduqbut, Bohktar and Viral MMR a go, and I have to say, it was a lot of fun. I was suprised at the Bohktars performance. She came on the board at the top of Turn three and took down a Flashpulse Bot, Kornak, and a Kaitok (alternating between Red Fury and Viral pistol). Her 6" move let her "jump in place" up to 3" into the air to get folks out of cover. The MSV1+Mimitism was a great combo. The 56 points is really painful though, but I did have my opponent convinced that a Nadhir was hiding some where.

The Sunduqbut though...that bot was great. 4 Shot viral suprise put down a Kaitok immediattly, in another turn, put a wound on another, put down a Gaki, and a Vanguard. Set him in the enemy DZ in supression at the end and too 4 orders to displace with a Daturazi (took time to get the daturazi there without being seen.

The Lasiq MMR was not great but that was mostly due to some crazy swingy dice, so she needs ot get run again. The Climbing Plus was great though for getting angles.
