    Hi, quick question

Is there any official ruling on who gets to roll dice first in a face-to-face roll? (In my opinion active player should roll the last).

    What do you think?

Is this a thing in other games?

  5. I suppose that asking is because it is something relevant to you, or your gaming group.

Why not explain that relevance to us so that we can understand it?

Why would it matter? Whoever has their dice ready I guess. For F2F rolls it doesn't matter at all.

Sometimes convenience favours one or the other. Like, I roll my Dodge first because then you're going to roll seven AROs and compare each one against my Dodge, so if I roll first then it's easy to resolve your rolls one by one.

But rules-wise it makes no difference.

I've known guys who love to see what you rolled so that they know what number they need to 'beat' when they roll. It's a psychological thing that makes them enjoy the game more, so I do them the courtesy of throwing my dice out there first. It's not something that affects the game mechanically, but making people feel happy is important too.

On another note, throwing your dice at different times also is helpful to avoid a very awkward situation where your dice lands, both players see the result for about 0.5 seconds, then the opponent's dice collides with it and knocks it onto a different result, and there's a conversation about how long the first result needed to stand before it could be considered a legit result. This is a real thing.

I like to roll first when I am the active player and second, when I do ARO. I donĀ“t like to see the possible (crit) result of my oppentents ARO - that make me feel forced to roll one (or the good result) also.

I prefer to use a dice-tablet / dice-tray and remove my dices if there is not enough space, so the other player can roll their dice without them knocking themselfs over.

In some rare cases of multiple AROs I roll one by one, put the dice out and place them next to the mini, to see if they have to roll (or how many) armor rolls for example.

I generally roll in a separate area than my opponent but is usually on rooftops or in unused sections of the board, so simultaneously is prefered. Def as then both can say what highest valid result was.

SMH at all these savages that don't have a dice tray for each player.

The worst is when someone doesn't want to roll simultaneously but still rolls in the same dice tray or on the same area so you quickly have to "rescue" your successful dice.

It's not as aggravating as someone who rolls their dice one by one, and each subsequent dice knocks their first dice to a different face.

The topic started really weirdly, but didn't go as far as it could.
And to be honest - there were few games when I got irritated with my enemies, who wanted to see all my rolls before rolling theirs. And rolled each ARM for example separately ofcourse.

IMHO the rolls should be made in the same time, to speed up the game, especially in tournaments.
