Given Lei Gong is only in Aristeia in a weird blaster pose and the Defiance box, how are people proxying him? I am leaning toward a Daoying since the leg armor and MI profile are similar. But maybe Zhencha or something else?

And what profile do we like more? I kind of like the SMG in teams where long range is covered by an HMG, and he's a specialist. But SMR range is nothing to sneeze at. Thoughts?

When I used him back in N3 (and before I got my hands into the Defiance one, which I love), I used anything YJ that was kinda "HI-light". Most often, a Crane or similar, since those troops were not in IA, what I was playing.

As for profile, I liked the SMG fast specialist, but that was before there were so many templates in the midfield. Have not tested him in N4 yet.

Since he is a alumni of the daoying command school the daoying makes for a great proxy.

If you wanted to really nail a conversion instead of a proxy here's the hit list:

    • a Daoying, either work
    • to mix up arm poses female Zuyong arms fit, and for the CoC option you can use a spare Wu Ming smg.
    • grab some Garuda wings for the back.
If you're a perfectionist, may want to shave down lady parts to sculpt a more masculine chest and sculpt a beak on the helmet. Grab that green stuff!

This is from the "sacrifice 3 models to build one" school of hobbying, not the "save money because I don't want to buy a defiance Lei Gong school. Could be really cool if you do it well.

I use the Aristeia version. DonĀ“t wanted to go into Defiance, this one looks better but not that better. For a proxy I would go with a Daoying. The Sniper one could be easy. I only use the SMM profile. CoC is not a bad option, but I dislike the SMG on a potential shooter so I prefer the 24" range band.

I think we will see a regular version of him in some time and I hope they will not do the SMG. At some other point I guess there will be an alternate Aristeia version, but maybe the make something fancy that is not usable in Infinity.

I happened to have a spare Garuda whose wings I could cannibalize, so I attached them to the Daoying sniper whose barrel I cut down. I've used it so often I had a moment where I briefly blanked on the troop when my opponent deployed the Defiance Lei Gong. In my mind, that proxy is just Lei Gong now and it's weird to see anything else.

Next time you see a Defiance Lei Gong, take some time to look at it closely and congratulate your opp for their super convincing proxy!
