In my experience, about 50% of my games are against someone running some sort of null deploy guided missile w/ midfield repeaters setup.

Well in that case it's still a failure of balance if they don't drop the cost of TAGs like the Lizard *now*.

Then maybe you should find other people to play with, if you don't like the playstyle of the current ones. Or, IDK, ask them nicely to change smt?

No, I shouldn't. I should ask CB to change their game so unfun noninteractive play isn't the best strategy. My opponents are just playing the game to the best of their ability.

I don't blame my opponents for trying to win. I think the responsibility rests with CB to create a situation where playing to win a competitive game doesn't cause unfun outcomes.

Are you only playing casually? Because that would be the big difference. You can't really ask people at an ITS to change their list because you don't like it.

The day I ask my opponent to sandbag for me is the day I stop playing.

    God no, that's insulting.

There is lots of overcosted trash in Infinity, always has been. Most of heavy infantry was a trap for most of the game's life until relatively recently.
It can take them years to enhance bad troops, it did took them years in many cases and it will take them years in the future.
TAGs have a greater chance to get adressed eventually as Siocast resculpts are a good occasion to do so.

I can refuse to run gml lists myself, and I can also object to their game design publicly, but i can't in good conscience demand of other players that they not play what they're playing, especially when they are often complete strangers. That's a wildly unrealistic attitude.

Sorry I didn´t read the whole thread: But I wonder why CB not use "-3 BS" on the Kriza to keep the spirt of the Full Auto skill.
Especialy when we see a now the new Rindaks of the Morats using "Dodge -3". Just saying :slightly_smiling_face:

Still a failure of balance worth criticizing like I described.

Yeah - I think this it is. Now he can reach B6 - sometimes CB makes "funny" decisons :smirk:

Cool. Just remember that if you compare new stuff to clearly under-powered stuff in order to claim that the new stuff is OP you are being disingenuous and are arguing in bad faith.

I'll take this as an opportunity to say something I believe to be invariably true in the context of wargaming.
Disclaimer: I am not, have never been and will likely never be a particularly competitive player. I don't care for tournament play and I will absolutely change my list so the game becomes fairer for my opponent.

However, the discussion around balance should be lead by competitive players / tournament players or those that observe their level of play, because it's where balancing issues manifest most clearly and frequently, and it's also the place where collecting data is easiest.

"This is not happening in my meta" is a meaningless statement in terms of discussing balance if your meta is not what is being played at the highest level of play. Bad balance affects all levels of play, but you need to be willing to explore that space in the first place in order to discover those issues.

To be fair, they could balance everything toward those under-powered profiles and fix the balance issues as well. Balance doesn't mean everything has to be at the top end of what we have now, just that it needs to be equally viable.

It might be fair, but it is a rather bad idea, as I've explained a few posts before:

Or to put it differently for "lowering stuff to the underpowered units' level" to work, they would have to do it for the whole game not just TAGs (that is any other troop in Bakunin would also be about as good/cost-efficient as a Lizard). If they just bring all the good TAGs to bad TAGs level nobody would play TAGs (not that they are super popular now), because they would be all equally trash in comparison to any other list choice.

So the real issue here is that you're not willing to accept a little bit of risk and want a foolproof method to kill Jazz trivially? You're playing the wrong game for that. Camo Infiltrators, Drop Troops and Impersonators are all good ways to deal with Jazz. Sure there is some risk, but this is Infinity and if you can't handle that sort of risk this is not the game for you.

Also Noone is taking Jazz if she costed twice what she does now, ie. 30+ points.

I honestly think B6 on the Kriza is way weaker than BS-3 would have been.

BS-3 was the perfect example of what has been complained about here: It was not fun to play against. Because there's jack shit you can do against it: Shoot back? eat that penalty. Dodge? eat that penalty. Oh, you have a visor? Fuck you, take that penalty.

Dodge-3 on the Rindak is in no way comparable. Because Dodge is not an offensive skill. Having Dodge-3 does make the Rindak more survivable, but that doesn't help it kill more models, it just helps it get into position to do whatever it needs to do. the Rindak is still an average shooter and an average (if admitedly fun to play) specialist.

You wanna talk about the Rindak? Because that model is exactly the kind of stuff CB should be doing more. I love it, everything about it. It's useful for its sectorial AND vanilla, it has fun skills that match up with its fluff, and it plugs a hole in its sectorial so nicely I almost feel like CB has been listening to our cries for a change.
And the best part? It has so many drawbacks no one in their sane mind would call it OP: it's expensive, it's got a middling statline, it's got no actual threat over 8 inches. It's damn near perfect. More Rindak, please.

By contrast, the Original Kriza is a clear cut example of What the Actual Fuck, CB?
It was one of the most dominant 'sweeper' models in the game at the time, competing with other busted Bullshit like Tariq and Sheskiin (both of whom got nerfed into reasonable levels too), while being in a faction that could shore up one of its only real weaknesses: hacking. Oh, yeah, go ahead an hack my Kriza, I've got an Interventor, a Zero KHD and probably some other hacker hidden in here somewhere. Go ahead, I dare you.
The only thing the kriza didn't have was CC defense and templates, and even then my Kriza punked Shinobu TWICE and Achilles THRICE merely by filling their general area with lead.

Now, the Gator is nowhere as busted as the release Kriza was. But it reeks of the same kind of design space that goes 'Well, let's give nomads this cool toy that really should be in other faction'. And worst of all, most of the time, that faction should be YuJing.

If your opponent goes first, you're not getting a chance to deal with her before the Repeaters start flying.

You can set up a proper ARO defence, of course. Unless your opponent has the means to go through them fast enough to leave orders for setting up the GML... and it just so happens, that CJC got some more great brute force units in N4.

Units should have drawbacks. DaRedOne's opinion about Rindak points it out as clearly as possible. And, as we've been repeating here, factions and their sectorials should have drawbacks, too.
