KHD works best as a defense/ ARO if the enemy hacker is forced to activate in your repeater network and you have multiple KHD survival becomes an issue especially with the low B most hacking programs have on the other hand specialized killers such as Mary can break the enemy defenses but preferably do so hunting a single unsupported enemy hacker.

Most common use though is a 0SWC hacker specialist.

Jazz is not the Kamau of Hacking. You can kill her using Skirmishers. You can kill her using Drop Troopers. There are several possibilities. If she is surrounded by a linked team (not everyone is playing sektorials) she is tieing up a huge amount of points. You can still kill her hacking net. Shoot the repeaters, shoot the Morans. Use DTWs. Or ... just try to do the objectives.

    Stealth is helping as well.

There are lots of possibilities and she does nothing against unhackable units, LI, MI, SK, WB ... whole Ariadna.

So, no, Jazz is not a problem. Because Mary is better than her and obviously Mary is no problem. If jazz is only a problem with linked GML (then Valerya is as well) maybe get rid of linked GML, because obviously Jazz by herself is no problem.

    So, no, not both.

Regarding active hacking. I don't know much about Tohaa and their pheroware, but as long as hacking is only working against hackable targets and not even able to kill every hackable target, then yes, it should be more lethal. Burst values are too low right now. I wished it could actually wound HI.

This is a shittier game. How are you supposed to shoot someone who's tucked into the back of the game field in the most protected spot on the board?

No. They just don't work as an ARO; they lose FtF rolls vs. hackers.

Yes she is. If you can't win with her... well, git gud, as they say.

I could attack the Kamau's fireteam with skirmishers or drop troops too. Or even the Kamau itself, with template weapons. Or use White Noise.

To be frank the Kamau was a bad idea, but Jazz was an even worse idea.

Not when she's in a fireteam and has Sixth Sense. Sounds like you have very little experience on the topic but are insisting that your opinion is valid.

Spotlight + GML works on unhackable units. She can kill your Lt top of 1 pretty easily with this setup if they're not camouflaged.

Given that you're saying a lot of things that are flat out incorrect, you can't make this statement.

What is this "linked GML"? GML is basically the same fireteam or no fireteam. You're talking nonsens.e

Given that you've expressed that KHDs should not be able to fight back against hackers, then no, it should not be, because that would be incredibly overpowered in favor of hackers.

Pheroware is also a problem and shouldn't be in the game in its current form.

We have been to this again and again in a specific meta, with specific conditions, this may be true, in another meta this may not be true, there is not one pure and holly meta.

Personally I doubt a hacker starting inside a repeater and 3 KHD on his neck is going to have a good time.

Infiltrators, Impersonators, Combat Drop, Parachuting are all options to get around d behind the opponent

You've said it again and again, with absolutely nothing to back it up. You wish it was true, because then it would mean that CB hadn't made a mistake in constructing N4, but that doesn't make it true.

Why would they be starting inside a repeater? That's a ridiculously overengineered situation. But if it was jazz behind a -6 tinbot, she'd probably be fine.

Yup, and KHDs are supposed to kill hackers, but someone bungled it because people were playing the pansy noninteraction game in N3.

The problem is, of course, you can't stop it if your opponent goes first - and Nomad players can generally spotlight and kill any given model on the table turn 1 if they're not in a marker state. And even if you go first, you have to risk an expensive and pricey model to take out the most protected model that your opponent has, just so you can play the damn game. If it fails, you've wasted a bunch of orders and now they can kill whatever's in their expansive hacking area at will with GML. It's too safe and low-risk of a play to exist in Infinity (ditto with Pheroware).

Combat Drop is extremely dicey in this situation because an intelligent opponent will cover the angles of approach to key pieces like Jazz or their lieutenant - I've played on tables where there's no way to get close without taking a bunch of AROs or firefighting through their army anyway.

Just having it in your list means your opponent has to take disproportionate risks to take that capability away - and all they've accomplished by doing so is making the game fair.

I have said a lot to back it up, inconsistent performance of top players in other meta, complains about certain weapons coinciding specifically with terrain density, a lot of discussion in the forums were people from different meta cannot agree on performance.

We know that historically some areas and TTS favors dense terrain and this shapes a different meta from an area that uses sparse terrain, and this is logical terrain shape and density affects everything gaming related.

Who was complaining about the overabundance of pitchers and other repeaters that can be delivered with ease? does your meta only a single KHD in the list? but yes, Jazz in an expensive duo or a core with brigada is quite well defended, can still die though.

People on the forums cannot agree, oftentimes, but that's because people on the forums' opinions aren't weighted based on how much ITS they play or their experience with it. Again, you haven't said anything of note to back it up.

The difference is not so much. The same tactics would work, pretty much. I think you're trying to explain it away as "terrain differences" when there are severe imbalances in the game right now, because otherwise you'd have to admit the design team cocked it up.

I was pointing them out on the side of the regular HD, not the KHD. You seem to have misunderstood my point to the degree that it isn't worth continuing this discussion with you.

I think that you have in your mind one meta and one way the game should be played and any deviation from it is wrong, I do not think this is the case.

What I said is terrain, placement and density is one of the driving factors that shapes the local meta, among others, and this greatly influences how units perform and their perceived value, two metas can be so vastly different that the same units can have polar opposite perceived value.

In my experience, this is the meta that beats the other metas. So you can think all you want... but it's what the current top-ranked ITS player does.

Not as much as you're saying; also, you're assuming that a given playgroup might not have a variety of terrain setups running the range from sparse to dense, and there's no reason that would be true. On a dense or sparse table you can still long bomb a pitcher, spotlight the enemy Lieutenant, and kill them with guided missiles top of 1.

That can happen, the fact it is not the most complained thing in Infinity probably means it is not that common or reliable, or, that it is not something many communities do.

Just because many communities don't do it doesn't mean that it's not a good option - COVID stymied a lot of the meta developing, and now that it's gotten popular on TTS it's bled into irl. People weren't doing it because they either didn't understand it was good or thought it was unsporting. Now the genie's out of the bottle.

    Wow, just wow.

Between "let's just not take into account all the great CC shit the Gator has because it is a shooting piece (because i say so)" and "there is nothing unbalanced in this game, it's just your meta", i honestly don't know which one is the lamest excuse.

There is no war in Ba Sing Se.

It is virtually the same tactic affectionally named "dirty Nomads tricks" since the first edition, I see nothing revolutionary (except somewhere pitchers got in the process) about it, in the previous editions it was always called a novice strategy, regardless, it always show a spike in complains when it is used, then it dies out as players figure it out, usually at the start of an edition.

If the tactic of hacker+ repeaters+ spotlight+ guided missiles is so strong then I would be expecting to see the complains spike, either it is now been rediscovered again and the complains will start spiking up, it is confined in a small meta or the wider meta has again grew over it.

But if it is stronger than before, I guess it can be nerfed.

@Benkei would you actively take a Gator to CC and use it as a mainly melee troop?

Well yea, Psychotic is a paid (I hope) cheerleader. I'm sure the CB team also has a host of alternative accounts. They've done it before.

It's dramatically easier than in previous editions, and the downsides to extending your repeater network (Killer Hackers) were defanged to the point where killer hackers fear Nomad hackers, in a perverse inversion of what it should be.

Complaints have definitely been spiking lately. It's more that the people who usually disregard balance complaints have had it rubbed in their face a few times by people who know what they're doing.
