Diablos replacing Diggers and the Curator replacing the MO specific Machinist option would not surprise me at all.
I know people aren't too happy with more Corregidor, but I really like the design of the Gator, pending the model it's one of my favourite TAGs visually.
Any idea about when these beauties will be out? Weeks? Months? Undetermined? Beside the incredible statline, this TAG is gorgeous. I hope the mini will look as good as the artwork. Poor Iguana... I really like the concept and mini but it's start to be difficult to justify on the table :(
No word yet, we'll probably see the next couple of month's releases at the seminar on Friday, otherwise it's wait and see. I've a feeling a lot of Corregidor players will be using their Iguana as a Gator for now
For me at least, NBW isn't literally just inherent talent in close quarters fighting, it can be, but it's also on things that martial arts won't really help you much on, which makes more sense when you come up against a TAG or something constructed. Fluff wise, it either was built to withstand getting punched / slashed at, has some special plating, or maybe yeah, just a dude who can take a punch. Whether it's realistic or not I'm not sure really matters, since we're playing a game where there are dudes in kilts running around with swords and bioengineered cat people Pure mechanics wise, it's just a counter to MA, it's proliferation isn't really any lazier than profiles having MA or high CC values. It just means you want to use your CC specialists on other more inviting targets
From a visual standpoint I like everything about the new concepts presented here. But although I wouldn't call myself an expert on the meta or game mechanics the Gator with NCO seems to me like the perfect beatstick TAG. Decent armament, heavy armor, flexibility with the dispenser, NCO on top of TacAw and all for 76 pts... it even has a convenient firewall built in. I am aware that the game is too complex to just look at individual statlines, but this unit is really strong and it looks great. We'll have to wait for what the other factions will get in response, for balances sake I hope that this was an exemption and the game doesnt spiral into the vicious circle of the power creep.
NBW is sometimes used to represent a trooper capable of overpowering their opponent with brute strength. When a mining armature is hitting you with a tool designed to cut through dense rocks and minerals your ability to parry that blow just means that your sword breaks before as well.
Lol, bolt action is freaking broken mate. Recce, heavy arty everywhere, selector lists with nebelwerfer spam etc. It's really not a paragon of balance and never has been. Hell 1st Ed had a 24page faq lol
You misunderstand, I'm not complaining about the Dartok. It's a pretty damn good profile and a worthy addition for Morats. What I am doing is pointing out the hosts have absolutely no idea what they're talking about. Taking the Dartok as an example? I'd talk about what actually makes it pretty damn good, which is BTS6 hacker that fireteams with a Firewall and has Veteran which is one of the most powerful skills you can pair with a hacking device. I'd talk about how gaining a pitcher opens a whole new world of deployable repeaters previously denied to the sectorial's infowar game. Linking pitcher is as big a game changer as Yu Jing getting minelayer repeaters with Guilang in N4, it's going to absolutely dial up MAF's hacking game. I wouldn't tell people it's a competent gunfighter. I would do that because I, unlike these hosts, apparently have a basic grasp on the game and can figure out that line infantry BS11 ARM1 idiot with an SMG isn't gunfighting material.
Why am I more irritated than anything else? I think because they are are giving good stuff to faction/sectorals that don't need things. Corregidor has absolutely no need for a new TAG. They are already pretty good and Vanilla even better. That thing makes my more expensive Guijia look like a joke. +2pts for NCO?! Like there's even a choice there. Of course you take it! Auto -3 to be hacked, good against CC specialist, good weapons, even the pilot is better. The Ariadna TAG is cool, they did need that. But MO needed a specialist CC monster character with a good gun like a hole in the head.
so, does the fairly criminally and inexplicably low price on the Gator signify a general drop in price for all TAGs?
But by taking your proposal and eliminating everything not knwon to new players would leave us with: "It adds new ways to hacking and fireteams for Morats" and that is even before even trying to break the hacking game and fireteams down for people not known to the game. This is a crux of this game. I love it's complexity, all the interactions and the rest but it makes it impossible to introduce new players to it without telling them to read the rules before even trying to understand it.
Veteran makes a unit immune to the isolation state, which is caused by one of the more power hacking programs in the game, Oblivion. Basically all Morats are straight up immune to that hacking program because they all have the Veteran rule. This is further compounded by Oblivion being the one hacking program you use against high BTS stat models so it makes the Dartok's BTS6 even better when he's immune to the one hacking program that's supposed to counter his defensive stat.
Yes, but I was expecting it as an engineer version of the Infirmarer (you know ARM 2, BTS 3 and WIP 13)... but it's just a name (and miniature) change for the Machinist MO.
Hum, you're right, I stopped playing for two years and just got into it again, and you just made me realize the link between Veteran, Isolation and Oblivion! :p It is great, indeed!
We could keep dreaming about... and die. While I wish this would be a real thing, I don't remember anytime CB release a "really well attuned profile" and places the old ones to the same level. So, I don't believe so.
