So I have been playing SEF for a bit and I have been toying around with the MSV2 HRL Gwailos with smoke support from the speculo. His albedo helps with those pesky MSV2 sniper links and the smoke from the speculo lets you do the normal smoke trick stuff. Unfortunately, we dont have a smoke throwing warband in SEF. Has anyone else used this combo so any degree of success?

I tried that with the Haiduk with mixed results, Spekulos are great to be were they must be for smoke delivery, but they can do so many more and this is were the plan can fall apart.

As noted, Speculos are expensive and usually have other things they want to do. In addition to that, Gwailos are overcosted on their own, and the fireteam they want to get the most out of that gimmick pumps that even higher. It also only works optimally on first turn.

If the stars align for it, great, but building heavily around it could quickly turn into a liability.

No doubt its expensive. Most of what is said is very true. But I have found its a good secondary list to break a few more prevalent amies I run into within my meta. Both of the M drones have sensor and just about every body and their brother runs a camo midfield specialist; most of the time in HD. SEF in particular is a midfield army and super vulnerable to those MSV ARO pieces.

Also, to be honest, I am kinda bored of playing cookie cutter lists: 5 man core, harris, 2 midfield TOs and cheerleaders. Pretty much everyone's sectorials follow a similar pattern and I am playing around with non standard options. Like the Jayth. They are super fun vs HI armies, and the one truly over costed unit in the army. But AI digress. Both of your response s have a lot of merit, for sure. I just feel that we tend to fall into rutts as gamers, and I think there are some out of the box answers.

Like I don't think the gwailos is over costed at all....well the MSV2 one. He will always have cover, can be a super aggressive T1 lane opener, especially those MSV ones that erase our best units (in SEF). Hacking him is not all that easy at BTS9. I could stand to him get some more armor, but I am not sad about nano screen.

Believe me, I look at the 87 points that harris calls for and I feel it. Its almost the same as a sphinx. Its 3 orders with sensor and never needs to find cover to grab angles. Comes with two repeaters that are fast and can open up a big network for your malignos KHD and/or shrouded hacker. It might not be the go to hawtness. Ill give it a few more matches and report back on either how stupid I am (highly likely) or that I may have stumbled upon a slick new sweetness.

I am going to give the Gwailo haris a go tonight. I like the idea and the repeaters help with the hacking and spotlight game. Taking the Nox with bs guided MSR. Could be fun and unexpected
