Hi, question: Kai'l ranked officer has two CC options: E/M CCW monofilament CCW My question is: when do you use E/M CCW ? Monofilament is obv better (I guess) in every / most scenarios.
I guess it depends what you want to achieve the Vorpal CC weapon is an unmodified DAM12 hit, but the E/M CCW is a DAM15 N+BTS hit, so your opponent will have to take a wound and suffer the effects of E/M ammo if his saving rolls fail (remember E/M ammo forces 2 x BTS saves). I'd say the E/M is more of an insurance policy when attacking HI and TAGs and it also gives you the chance to use his Protheion skill on HI (and other less durable troops).
The E/M CCW is also more reliable against 1W targets because you're making two rolls with higher damage.
BTS rolls of an E/M ammo do not cause loss of W/STR. An E/M CCW is ammo N + E/M. You cause loss of W/STR only with the N part (and remember they are 2 saves in case of Crit)
The effects of the Ammunitions are combined, so you make two saving rolls at half BTS, with each failure causing a Wound, Isolated, and Immobilising HI, TAGs, or REMs.
Let me get this straight: Nourkias hits once, thus random_victim makes two halved BTS rolles. Every failure means getting wound + E/M effect (depending on type of troop). Right?
It's the other way round, op. E/M is the best weapon by far, with vorpal normally staying in the sheath. With his burst 2 and easy critting, Nourk most often forces 5 saves per attack in cc. Then you have the way vorpal and protheion interact, and how much nourk crutches on regenning as he runs amok. The boy can tank a missile to the face, as long as he has someone to snack on within 6"...
