CB was expecting this reaction tho, we've been told as much. And they (apparently) find it amusing. "Yu Jing cryers" are a meme on the Spanish side. A meme that CB seems to love too.

I say there was no mishandling, they knew exactly what they were doing and did it anyway, because they thought it would be fun.

But yeah, hopefully there will be no more teasers consisting of "some of you are going to hate this a lot".

Well this isn't "Codex: NA2" it's the uprising "campaign" book. It would make sense for there to be talk of the opposing force in it.

That seems like a really shitty attitude for a company.

I'm also really amused though. It seems like pretty much everyone outside of a subset of vanilla YJ players are pretty amused...

I think that it's good for CB to see the strong opinions and reactions, 'though clearly some have gone too far.

We'll certainly have high hopes for this article, you all know what I want to see.
But in the end it's not really about me and I hope that Yu Jing players will be happy moving forward.

Yan Huo are not going to link. Burst six on the HRMV would be getting silly...

Conversely, burst 5 on the MULTI HMG profile might be the only way to see it ever get taken.

I'm curious, apart from a potential B2 in ARO with the explosive shot from a multi HMG, why would you even bother taking it in a Haris. It just makes it a much more expensive HRMC.

And if you want an ARO piece, take the neurocinetics ML.

I guess you have a "jack of all trades" kind of thing going with a Yan Huo Haris but to me it just seems expensive and still kind of overshadowed by the other options.

It's as you say, almost as good as a Neuro ML in ARO, almost as good as a HRMC on active, and would probably look cool. Ideally the Haris would be it and 2 Zuyongs.

And yet, if the plan really was to get a 'HOW COULD YOU CB' from everyone... if your plan is to give Yu Jing the only Burst 6 (even on a model that doesnt have much close-in defense and cant deal with camo/smoke), that's gonna do it with one obvious exception. Wouldnt you then be required to balance it out by trolling them hard through a JSA split? ^_^

It would depend on if the MULTI HMG Yan Huo gets anything else to sweaten the deal.

If they do something whacky and give it minelayer or something then it might be worth it to grab it for some backline defensive setup while giving you a punchy link.

In all honesty, they need to do something with the MULTI HMG profile to make it worth using, preferably something orthogonal to its sheer firepower, making it more of the utility choice would be ideal. It feels like a big support unit like that should bring along more than just a big gun and turning the least enticing weapon option in to the proper general purpose unit would do a lot to make it more usable in vanilla and in IA without even getting in to potential link options.

    *cough*

    Or give it an MSV2...

    *cough*

That said, I thought most of the reasoning behind avoiding B6 was to keep crit-fishing to a minimum since it has such a huge effect on the chance of a critical hit. And while B6 results in a staggering 26.5% chance of a crit per action, it pales compared to the 34.4% chance of a crit from a B4 weapon with Fatality L2. So maybe that no B6 ever reasoning has gone out the window?

But even then, that poor MULTI HMG profile needs some love, or at least a point to its existence.

@Durandal they could make a Specialist Operative profile, that would be nuts.

I don't play Yu Jing and while the story implications could be interesting, the potential impact on people's model collections and the way CB has handled the new information are both abysmal.

Oh, that would be intriguing. Though at 4-2 MOV I've always found them better at stand-off ranges rather than being useful as mid-field specialists. While that movement profile isn't bad if you're firing a whole bunch, it starts falling behind quickly in order efficiency once you're able to start doing free moves toward things.

If it was in a link, this would be helped a bit of course (though it would still slow the link down) simply due to the combined order efficiency, but depending on the other specialists we gain access to, it may prove to be not a big selling point. At the very least, a Specialist Operative profile would see no play in vanilla compared to its punchier brethren.

This is why I'd be interested to see more area-control option given to it. CrazyKoalas, MadTraps, minelayer, things like that. With JSA leaving us, we're losing a lot of back field defensive options (as well as our only KrazyKoala user, which is odd considering the background points those out as being a Yu Jing invention, despite Nomads having the bulk of them) and that seems like something that is in the wheelhouse of the IA's heavy support regiment. If the MULTI HMG came with MadTraps then all of a sudden the choice between it and the other options gets a lot harder (even in vanilla). At that point, it probably wont even need more than a Duo link in sectorial to stand out.

That said, speaking of Raiden, it would be neat to see a twin HRL version of the Yan Huo (with minelayer!) as well... *cough*

How so? I mean, I see two models out already that will work as proxies for Ryuken-9 (Raiden), and there's 5 models that will work just fine as Tanko (Haramaki).

Aside from Vanilla YJ losing Oniwaban/Shinobu for high-risk TAGslaying, what am I missing?
With the 'new' profiles to the Zuyong and Wu Ming in N3, there hasn't been much reason to take a lone Domaru or even Haramaki. I don't think I've taken anything but the Tokusetsu doc/engineer in vanilla since N3 dropped.
You still have Ninjas for TO Infiltrating specialists.

    What builds got invalidated?

Bostria is of the opinion that they only belong in White Banner, for some fool reason.

I think that's 'design space' for new sectorials. I mean, we kinda know what we're getting with the Invincible Army, and the White Banner is supposed to be like vanilla YJ back in N2. Guilang, Daofei, Tigers, maybe a Guijia.

It's good that CB is moving the timeline forward. Otherwise, we'd be playing 40k. And all I have to say to that is, ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

I'd honestly be very surprised if we saw Wu Ming core in the Invincible Army (unless maybe some funky Domaru/Haramaki mixed Core). Hell, I'd be surprised if we saw Wu Ming AVA of 3. You want cheap HI, the Invincible Army has Zuyongs.

Yeah, I don't see any one of the main factions getting a sectorial in the Non-Aligned Armies book.

Even if Uprising as a campaign suggests that Imperial Service and/or Invincible Army could show up.

Yeah, CB screwed up managing customer expectations big time.

But I always thought that it was a bit wonky having the Japanese in with the Chinese. You really don't want to know how much bad blood there is between the two today, and that's over events that were 60+ years in the past. It really is about like having Israel being a member-nation of the 3rd Reich (yes, I'm stretching and flipping the analogy a bit, but the hate and discontent is about the same).
