I'm kinda with you. I disagree about them being that great. I guess relative to our other choices in YJ yes they are good. Our other mid-field choices are even more expensive, not specialists, or no camo. The MSV1 is ok I guess but to use it you reveal yourself and you can still flub the roll. How often are you really going to loose your own camo to discover an enemy camo? His low-ish BS makes him not that great of a shooter even with MSV. His high WIP 14 changes things a bit. He's not a bad hacker but with BTS0 it's a challenge. The flash pulse on the FO is pretty good however for an ARO. I really only take him because I don't have many other choices. I'll take the Ninja KHD sometimes but I almost never actually use him for hacking. But then again, I can't remember the last time I actually use Forward Observe with the intention of using the Target state against them. I have however used it as a classified objective card. However he looks cool and I still want a model :) As I note: I personally rank infiltrating specialists like this. However the rest of the force does factor in a bit. 1. Clipsos 2. Chasseur 3. Foxtrot 4. Zero 5. Shrouded
Just to drop an opinion: In current Hacking + Guided heavy meta Guilang Minelayer is a god. Your infiltrating Camo gets do teploy either a Mine or Repeater on the board. More so it pack a BSG which combined with MSV1 allows for some sick combos. Lets say you move without stealth in ZOC of potential target, forcing ARO, then if they dodge you shoot with BSG, if they do anything else two templates. LT under Camo is a sweet option, even if priced with 1SWC. (*laughts in Alguacil*). Hacker packs solid 14 WIP and hides under a camo, can go where you need it, plus is Infiltrated which usually puts him in a path of incoming heavies. Only MSR seems like a mistake, BUT it's always a MSV1 MSR so, seems like might have some uses, even at a low BS of 11. I wish there were more sculpts of these. As mentioned in the topic MSR one got old pretty bad compared to sweet new BSG. Combi / Hacker would be a huge improvement.
Guilangs are insanely good. They have a kit that allows then to effectively counter other skirmishers quite well. Just note that the MSV1 + Smoke trick does let opponents declare BS attack now, the Hacker Guilang can do this even better due to how hacking works.
Guilang can still abuse it because all their kits pack mines. You drop a mine, then do the bait. Opponent can't go for a BS attack because if they do you just declare a second Move (or drop another mine) which converts their ARO into an idle which means they eat a free mine hit.
Step away from the repeater! I found out the hard way that they can be targeted by Speculative grenade fire. I forgot that effing Ghulam NCO has a regular GL in addition to Smoke.

New Shang Ji Jujak Ye Mao Hacker Long Ya Monk to come very soon Hundun HRL to come soon Only profile with no figure: Tian Gou The Long ya are growing on me and I like the Monk. I haven't been using the Hundun. If it's cool I might get it. Still on my list of wants: Guilang Hacker Ye Mao Engineer (is it asking too much to have a figure to make a haris of the one of two options in WB?) Liu Xing SO Daofei Hacker or BSG Hulang SMG Bao Re-sculpt We are at a point where the only box sets would be re-sculpts. The best candidates for Re-sculpts are: Bao, Rui Shi, Lu Duan, Pangguling.
Guilang hacker, guilang combi, guilang MSR resculpt, Daofei MR (And no, you can't do a Tian Guo in a Guilang box, because they also need to be shared with Starmada. They'll need a blister) Box that all up and call it a day.
You didn´t bought the ITS box with the lim ed Ye Mao? So sad ... I am joking ;-) You are right, they have to release a regular version of the PF/MR loadout. Guilang indeed need a resculpt, I would like it without HD gear for double use. I still have the old one, he looks okay, but still has the old combi. Daofei is in dire need since they drop the HMG loadout - multi rifle please (or two arm/weapon options). Liu - compared to the release-flood of Fraactas (Onyx) or Deltas (O-12) we are starving on AD troops. I guess Baos could take a while, though they have still old weapon design. Careful, maybe he comes in a O-12 box
I think CB has had a lot of "What Were You Thinking?!" moments last year. And not just with Yu Jing. Jujak box: can't form a fireteam on their own Ye Mao blister: The one troop that can form a fireteam. Jayth: really? Mukhtar hacker: A second one (better looking than the first) and no one seems to use either and still have profiles with no figure. Shaolin: While I'm happy for it, why blister and why not come out with Tian Gou? (see Mukhtar) Chaksa: The troops no one needed or wanted but got anyway. They do look cool though.
I agree with some of them being a little funky, but the only issue with the Muhktar release is the fact it wasn’t a box. Muhktar hacker is great and pretty common in RTF. Also would you have rather gotten another Shang-Ji in the jujak box? The release of boxed units isn’t really based upon the army rules.
That would have been even worse. It would have highlighted just how bad the marketing/rule is. Obviously rules don't seem to matter. But cool looking figures can only sell so far. While I wish people played with what looks cool and is a part of their "theme". Many buy something because it works well on the table. Probably why I get kick around a lot . But if they actually did go by what is obviously good in the game we'd probably see a Guilang by now. It's possibly the most used troop in Yu Jing and probably White company.
She is a near perfect Barid proxy who is woefully outdated yet still a good pick. Not sure if CB takes the potential proxy use into consideration a lot, but here it worked out like a charm.
I love the figure and hope to use it as Gromoz or something else. If they don't come out with Guilang hacker soon...
I just got myself a random zhanshi with combi as a doner of arms and weapon for my guilang msr, *cough* I mean guilang combi rifle. This shows how overdue we are for combi guilang for me to convert something. My only other conversion in 3 years was cutting off HMG arm from daofei and giving him zuyong multi rifle right arm. He is now universal proxy with hackerish looking hand.
The jujak do look great though if only their fireteams weren't as lackluster as they are. I wish for more luies, spitfire and So, bao resculpt, crane multi resculpt, Hundun HRL, and a MO style revamp of imperial service. Even if they don't get it I will play my agents because they look awesome and brought me to yu jing in the first place. Come for the agents, stay for the heavy infantry!
Oh I use him frequently as KHD, usually he accompanys the Shang-Jesus in the same link. I wonder why they not put both Shaolin in a double blister, saving the precious SKUs ... Tian could be in any WB-related box ;-) @Jujaks: I would like to see something like a "designers note" for the creation of the Jujaks for White Banner. Maybe a intersting insight, why they are only linkable with a more expansive HI troop, creating an near identical fireteam that we can do in another - very famous - Yu Jing sectorial. Cool thing. Unfortunatly mine are already painted and I don´t like to cut something off them. But in case of the Daofai I had to look out for a second hand Zuyong Multi.
