Oh wow, That is a massive overhaul on bikes. So supposedly according to this. All bikes in ITS 13 will get Mimetism and Total Terrain. And at deployment you can choose to either keep impetuous or be able to take partial cover. (I'm assuming while still on the bike) Considering bikes usually have to choose between smoke or mimetism. That's a massive upgrade across the board for Ariadna since all our bike have smoke and no mimetism. It will also give our bikes a 9 inch move for the season with the Antarctic rule. All the bikes that already got Mimetism really got the shaft. I'm curious if the 112 bike can now take cover. But even if not Mimetism on him is fantastic. Mmm mmm.. Mavericks and Desperados got outrageously good with this. Mimetism and sometimes cover on Desperados, and still for 6 points will make hese guys a must take. Mavericks are now Mimetism, Cover, and MSV1. These guys are going to be fast moving hunters with that AP Spitfire. All this on top of being able to provide their own smoke. I wasn't a fan before but I sure will be giving them a try now. Even in Vanilla. Dynamo's have got their dragoon gimmick back with a vengeance. One of these will now be an incredible speed bump unit. Love to here everyone elses thoughts on this surprising change.
I don't like it. It just buff army that can spam cheap motorized unit while the others just get an AVA 1 bikes.
Yup, they're going to be 1 point overcosted for this season. Though they do get to keep Mimetism when dismounted, unlike other bikers, so more like 0.75 points overcosted.
I think the real winner profile for Ariadna is the 9pt submachine gun Desperado. Cover, Mimitism, suppressive fire, and sixth sense. I’ll take max ava thanks. Also, I would be ZERO surprised if all of the sudden new desperado sculpts dropped.
Pretty much, at least an insane buff to motorcycles. You can spam really controllable extremely cheap fast units. Great things became even better across the board with MIM -3. You get a free 16th model to your list that you can use to make an 11-model group. It's pretty bonkers.
I’m not sure I’d go so far as to say game breaking. Yes, they certainly deliver a substantial buff to bikes. For sure. Thankfully, unlike GW, the bonus bike is available to all armies. It’s not, “if you take a bunch of space marines they all get free transports” type rule. As far as the general buff to bikes, yes, some armies benefit way more than others. The cheap, no frills bikes certainly are the winners here. But you do have to sacrifice an impetuous order, so it’s not exactly a freebie buff. Additionally, other than the general bike buff, many of the other optional rules, I assume, will be mission specific. Sure, the rules are probably meant to drive bike sales. I get that and they are a business that sells models. I think the qualitative difference between CB and GW, is they at least made the buff accessible to all factions. Again, some benefit more than others, but it’s not like I have to bin my green space marines because now yellow space marines are now the new hot.
So, I just re watched the video and this can serve as at least some sigh of relieve for people who are super concerned about it all. Bostria did say some of these chages will be keywords that have to be next the mission otherwise they dont apply. Bike recon, having a free 11th Boubty Hunter Bike model, is one of those labels, that being said, if both players are allowed to have it, I wouldnt say its breaking but it's as was said above, rules to promote sales which can be cringeworthy depending on circumstance. So, Bikes can't go prone, I wonder if this is meant to be a sort buff to compensate for that. REMs are now allowed to go prone, TAGs are much harder to kill now. I wonder if this is not warranted? I'd almost argue for a Aragoto, Penny and Zondnauts mimetism discount but they all get it discounted so as long the terrain is sufficient enough and there's an argument to dismount. At least this way, if this bike rule applies to all missions, those troops I just mentioned will still have an advantage when rushing a central room, they can take cover and still have mimetism inside the room. Also, when going up a building to deal with pesky skirmishers.
