The dodge thing is just that if you dodge without LoF to the triggering model, you suffer a (-3) penalty. It's part of the rules on the dodge page.

Usually this is if someone moves inside your ZoC, so you get a (-3) to try and turn around to see them, but it also applies when being shot through smoke or trying to dodge a Speculative Attack.

Now, if you get shot from someone behind you and they are OUTSIDE 8", you don't have a valid ARO, so you don't get to dodge at all; you just get shot. Normally, you also wouldn't be able to shoot back through smoke, but there's a special rule for Zero Visibility Zones that lets you react if they're within your 180 degree front arc.

Sixth sense allows you to ignore all those penalties, shooting back/dodging with no penalty and allowing you to react to getting shot in the back from outside ZoC.

It's part of what makes Core-linked ARO pieces so nasty; you can't smoke-trick them, you can't shoot them in the back, and you can't sneak up on them with stealth; your only options are to either avoid them or try and out-shoot their +3 BS/+1B sniper rifle/missile launcher.

So if you see some Grenzer, Riot Grrl, or Bolt looking at you menacingly, just throw some Eclipse and ignore it. BS 13 Triads are ill-equipped to deal with such premium ARO pieces. (Alternatively, take one of your Clipsos/Igaos/Impersonators, get in close, and take them out the old-fashioned way).

Now, in Tohaa, we don't get Core-links. Or Sixth Sense, really. So don't worry about trying to match that level of ARO. Instead, focus on gumming up the midfield and using our deceptively sturdy Symbiont Armor to waste orders and force the opponent to overcommit to actually kill anything.

He was Using Steel Phalanx, one Enomotarchos With Ajax, two mirmydon and a doc. Another FT with 2 Light Rocket Launcher and a Feuerbach and anothe char i cant' remember, a couple of cheerleader, Atalanta and a Prachutis (can't remember the name).

I go first, and my two impersonator.... does nothing. I tried to Haunt Atalanta at close range with Jaan, no result he killed me. I tryed to haunt fauerbach one with Greif-Op, another fail. I have to say i had terrible luck.
Tried with the Sukeul with HMG, I killed one Thorakitai but Feuerbach (2 shots) downed me (critical hit), used doc, tried again and unconscous again (another critical), and again in the third try (another critical) and here o died directly.
His Parachutist killed Gao-Rael, but got kille from my Auxiliar. And the the times was late (we spent a lot of time chatting).
So this is the output. Best piece on the field was for sure Sukeul, very strong piece and... in all my attack i forgo he have mimetism, ghos.

Mission: Unmasking. I activated 2 console and killed 2 decoys, he activated one console.
    • The Sukeul was bad placed so he did not too much, but was a good threat to a lane / objective.
    • Jaan Star: absolute beast. He killed like a HMG guy, and a whole fireteam. Mostly in CC. His Viral Pistol +1B is a real real pain.
    • Taquel: did basically everything. Helped with a couple of eclipse granade he kille like 3 ppl + a decoy in a corner of a building, safe from anithing. Pherowerare is really strong.

@Arkaon1125 Glad to hear you're having fun with the faction!

Unfortunate to hear about the Sukeul going down to the crit; that must've been some really unlucky die rolls to punch your your ARM 9/Immunity (Total). Unfortunately the Sukeul loses her Mimetism (-3) once her armor breaks, so picking her back up is only worth it if you REALLY need that HMG/third Triad member (and there's no way to "repair" the armor back to full, either).

Happy to hear that Jaan got his chance to shine in the 2nd match; he's one of the biggest threats Tohaa (and Spiral Corps) have. You'll only have to take him a few more times before your opponents start to have a heart attack whenever they see an Imp-2 marker.

Likewise happy to hear about the Taquel. Taquels went from being an interesting, but niche, unit in N3 to one of our all-stars in N4. Definitely a unit that I think you'll have a lot of fun using (and your opponents will have a lot of not-fun seeing on the table).

I noticed you didn't include a Clipsos either time; I'd strongly advise trying out the FO profile. It's a definite all-star for pushing buttons, laying mines, and doing anything else you'd need a TO Infiltrator to do.

Yeah! Clipsos is the next thing i want to try! But this time I was short on points, I wanted to hit the 10 orders at 200 pts. I'm wondering if brigning 2 Clipsos and risk one infiltration roll can be worth it or no.

You succeed at the Infiltration Roll on a 9, only a 45% chance, so I don't think it's worth risking it. You have the Greif Operator for that.

Besides, with Combi Rifles, Flash Pulses, Forward Observer, and Shock Mines they can fight pretty darn effectively against other Midfield models; not even TAG's want to try B4 BS 8 HMG vs. B1 WIP 13 Flash Pulse if they can help it, and if you go into Suppressive Fire you're even harder to move.

If you don't feel you need two specialists you can also "downgrade" one of them to the Boarding Shotgun variant, which makes for a very mean threat now that Surprise Attack works vs. Dodge rolls. Saves you a point too.
