The split was to solve the shallow detail and the pimples in the cheeks. This system is unrelated to GW resin, as the plastic is injected into the mold, and it shows, way less paths that in resin molds. Maaaaaaaybe it is vent that went wrong, maybe another weakly pushed silicone zone.

Bostria is trying to handwave that snot, but the others look unconvinced.

Isn't that one of the older designs? Doesn't the current Vostok have the head bulb cast separately?

Yes, that change was made after the promo miniatures were sent out.

"Our machines cannot hold something like this" - Bostria when telling us that the not-Sandworm will be produced in China during the TAG Raid stream

Errr, guys, wasn't one of siocast's selling points that they will be able to make bigger miniatures?! What happened?!

so what, siocast is suitable only for s3/4/5 stuff, and maybe s2, but not for TAGs?

I'm looking forward to some of the things they will be able to do with designs. Bring back the chicken bot!! The old Haqq REM looked good but they were hell to keep together due to the heavy body with small leg joins. This would be a lot more feasible with plastic.

I haven't seen the stream, but I think it may be a case of trying to cater to the boardgame crowd.
The people who aren't into minature building at all, and if they have to assemble a multi-part miniature to play a given game, they lose interest. Having two, maybe three parts of a model (especially if they are on the large side) could do (though my sister - who is an avid boardgame player - brings her models to me to be assembled!), more than that is a dealbreaker.

So, if you want to sell TAG Raid to them, you need a technology that will turn out large, single-piece (preferably) models. Siocast apparently does not do that - it does multipart models equivalent to CB's metal miniatures.

TAG Raid is dead even before the Kickstarter. Nobody in their right mind will preorder if it's soap miniatures shipped from China two years after Kick or later, for premium price. Talk about a bad move.

    Yikes.

I'm not sure of the figures but I'm just not interested in the story. It's mildly interesting but not enough I'd want a game of it.

Aristeia! but PvPvE with TAGs and monsters seemed like a very cool idea with a lot of gaming potential. I'm a bit lukewarm on the "mining TAGs" part, but they were supposed to be usable in Infinity and have their own profiles.

Now these models will be locked away behind a Kickstarter AND in Chinese rubber? Hard pass. It's a shame, really, I was curious.

This sounds a bit counterintuitive to be honest. I can't figure out why it won't be able to. There are pretty large nylon one-piece items out there. I wonder if @Muad'dib would be as kind as to say a few words about it?

The worm is like 6" tall, that's what he meant.
I guess since they're doing the worm in China, might as well do the entire set, since it's a oneshot non-retail kickstarter.

I'm sure they could do a multipiece setup to get the worm in Siocast, but how expensive would that be? Compared to PVC in China.

I'm actually not so bothered about the Worm, it's large and organic so PVC won't be too bad, if it's similar quality too the Megalodron that's acceptable to me.

I'm not keen on PVC for the TAGs though. Too many little mechanical details that might not come out well. I love the more Civilian/industrial theme of the game as a look into less organised/military conflicts in the Infinity universe and the demo game looked fun, but PVC TAGs is now giving me pause.

Edit: I wouldn't be opposed to a higher pledge tier for Siocast TAGs instead of/as well as the PVC ones, like the Aristeia! collector's edition.

I tried watching the stream and the gameplay just doesn't look fun at all. Will all missions be like that? Just TAGs running around a bunch of holes with worm? I still can't understand why they would go for cardboard rulers and D20s when they have quite decent and unique Aristeia engine.
I had concerns about bendy drills and other thin parts before are now I am sure they would look bad since it's not even Siocast - it's that godawful chinese aristeia PVC!
Also, what about that partnership with Holy Grail Games? What was that about? Since they make worm in China anyway, printing materials will be made there too? Can't wait to find out about all those misprints when it ships in 2023 then...

Eh, this Kickstarter is gonna live or die based on how much people want the minis for Infinity anyway. I bought 3 copies of Defiance without giving a shit about the board game in the least. I sold 2 copies, kept one to strip the minis I wanted out of it and I'm going to sell the rest of them that I don't want piece meal once the second wave arrives.

I plan to do something similar for TAG raid, I'm only going to buy it if there's popular minis and sculpts that I and other people will clearly chase after. Fuck the board game aspect.
