Just to check if i get the possible use of a trooper with combination of hidden deployment and minelayer right: During deployment phase i can place my model hidden (by taking a photo or noting where it is), so my oponent doesnt know where it is neither can target it in any way. At the same time i can place a mine in the zone of control of that hidden model? So my oponent still does not know where my hidden model exactly is but can limit the possible placement while creating a circle (zone of control) from the placed mine? This would work for Trinitarian Tertiaries... thanks and best regards Romansky
Not exactly. The mine is deployed in camo state so your opponent just knows that you got a camo there. Of course in Military Order it'd certainly be a mine or Dart.
hej, i just checked the rules again and i think it's just as i thought and asked. The provided example makes it really clear i think, so i can answer my own question :) "During the Deployment Phase, a Croc Man Minelayer uses his Special Skills of Infiltration and Hidden Deployment to place himself in the enemy half of the table. The player, though not placing a Model or Marker representing the Croc Man on the table, may still lay a Mine within the Zone of Control of the Croc Man, but always outside of the enemy Deployment Zone." https://infinitythewiki.com/Minelayer
I don't think the two of you are disagreeing, but just to be sure: You secretly place the hidden trooper and note its location. You place a camo marker representing the mine within 8" of the hidden trooper's secret location. Your opponent doesn't know whether the camo marker is a mine or a trooper. They do know that if it's a mine, there has to be a trooper with the Minelayer skill within 8" of it. The Minelayer trooper could be visible, another camo marker, or a hidden trooper (they may be able to deduce the options if they know what profiles are available to your faction).
thanks QueensGambit i would like to agree, but i do not get why the mine would be placed as a camo marker and not as a mine ? - even though in point of tactics and possibilities this would be great.
Mines have the Concealed trait which says "This weapon or piece of Equipment uses the effects of the Camouflage Special Skill." The Camouflage skill says "During the Deployment Phase, it allows the user to deploy in Camouflaged State." So when you deploy the mine in the deployment phase using the Minelayer skill, the Concealed trait lets you deploy it in the Camouflaged State. When deploying a mine using the Place Deployable skill during the game, you also deploy it as a camo marker due to the Mines rule: "When the player declares the Place Deployable Common Skill, instead of placing a Token to represent the Mine, he will place a Camouflaged Marker (CAMO (-3))."
so its exactly like QueensGambit pointed out. Thanks to all of you that is really great and creates interesting possibilities…
