"A Vainilla BattleTournament Report"

    Hello to everyone! :)


    I had several games with Haquisslam this year, but they were "casual", last weekend I took my vainilla army and went to a tournament. They did a really good job. I have to say if I dind't win the tournament, one big reason was because I lost my concentration after my last turn and I forget one of the rules of the mission (it was a custom one), when I keeped precisely that rule in mind while I did the lists.

    The missions were Unmasking, Supremacy and "Custom" (one with 2 consoles in the central line of the board and one antenae in the exactly middle. Plus the necessity to "paint", wasting one shor order, the building inside the enemy half board. The thing is that you could try to do reset with your hackers when the enemy tried to take control over the antenae in the middle, in order to prevent the especialist take it... I had control over that antenae and three hackers and my enemy was really short of orders...), but both forgot about the "extra"... :P Big mistake but nothing to do with the "lists".

    What I'm triying to say is that haquisslam did a really good job (of course the dices always have to be in your side to win games), but I had to change my mind over some troups and N4.

    I did use of GTS1 in the first and third match, and GTS2 in the second one.

    First Mission, Ummasking, against CA

    I lost the initiative roll and my rival choose to go first. I was really afraid of the Avatar. He activated all the consoles and discovered all my "hvt". He tried to kill the "good one", but only managed to put him uncounscious... Lucky me. The second attempt against one decoy missed so he didn't have to many orders in his pool, so he choosed to full back with the avatar.

    I tried to kill the dangerous taiga close to my "uncounscius HVT", but I failed. My turn was about to kill the speculo and activate the console in my right side. I discovered a decoy.

    The second turn of my rival was about to kill one decoy and made true the death of the HVT, so I couldn't to use my doctor in my own turn. Here the things were a little bloodier. Both had several casualties but not considerables ones. I only was capable of take positions close to the central console and activate it with the namur, only to discover the other decoy, and to kill some skirmish and some "rem with flash pulse".

    The last turn the Avatar pushed really hard and I lost several troups: Azrail, Djambazan, Barid, Leila and the last Ghazi. Too he take the console I had activate in my right side and killed the last decoy.

    When my third turn begun I discovered how good the namur ist. I could go to my left side, avoiding the avatar, and ignoring the flash pulses, the ikadron's pistols out of range did not harm. Lucky me. I killed the decoy in my right side with the ghulan nco, using the Lt order. So, the Namur could focus to kill the second decoy and to go close to the last console. I did use of a couple or coordinated orders to bring closer too the fiday, in case de Namur die. So, I pushed the last console and discovered the true HVT, and with the Namur itself I killed it.

    So, I won only because I had more consoles activated than my rival. Without the total inmunity of the Namur, things would be, possible, really different.

    The second one, Supremacy, against "Ramah". I did use the list with Saladinn.

    I was lucky and won the initiative roll, so I choosed "go first". I have to say that Al-Djabel did a lot of work in my first turn with a little help comming from the hmg zhayedan. The enemy's Namur was a dangerous contrameasure against my impersonator, but the zhayedan was capable of take off the Namur, so Al-Djabel had free way to put uncounscious almost the whole rival's zhayedan core (ML,Yara,Leila and HMG) fireteam thanks the continuos damage in the BS skill. Later it was too really usefull when Carmen came against the impersonator. I had a great first turn doing damage to my rival, even activating two consoles, but I controlled only my two quadrants. My rival use Rouhani to bring back all the troups he could (yara, hmg and ML), remade the core and took one of his quadrants. So, he had both, thanks to the mukthar redfury, because he was already there :) So, none of us made points.

    My second turn wasn't really efective, I only was capable of take off some orders, a nafatum, isolate the mukthar and no more. I ven loose my own hmg zhayedan... For my rival was an effetive second turn, he was capable of go inside one of my quadrants and enven activate the console there. So, he scored after the second turn.

    My third turn was really bloody, I killed pretty much all the things my rival had in the table, with the exception of the mukhtar and 2 ghulams. It was a duel between my Leila and his Yara, one I was lucky enough to win. This made me to control more quadrants and my enemy's HVT. This was victory.

    Being in retread didn't made the things easy to may rival. He could do little without no commands tokens to use.

    The last one, against SSA, I did use of the same list as I did against CA, because I was really afraid of the mimetism -6... I won the iniative and I choosed "go first".

    My rival deployment was a close one, only one aro piece on side, a hmg total reaction drone, which wasn't a a match for my hmg azrail. He told me after the game that his deployment choice was because he was scare of the fidays (last time we played in a tournament as rivals I were with hassasin and did use of the 2 regular fiday + Ald-Jabel). So, I had pretty much a free way to push buttons and do some harm. I only tooked from him a couple of orders: an engineer thorikitai and the hmg rem. Zuleyka tried to do harm with the flame thrower but all the people touched for the template was successful in their saves rolls... a pulse flash rem on a roof, and a mirmydom who did CC. Zuleyka, as you can guess, died.

    My enemy erased with an Enomotarchos fireteam with Machaon, Fenyx and one mirmydon, my farzan FO, which killed before the engineer. The other Enomotarchos fireteam, two mirmydons+Eudoro tried to discover my impersonator but failed. Only one ghazy survived.

    The second turn I tried to do more harm to my rival, but I only was capable to kill Fenyx and one myrmidon with my djambazan hmg, and the flash pulse with my Azrail. For my rival wasn't a special good turn neither. He tried to kill with Eudoro my Azrail but I was lucky and won the face to face roll and I was capable to do one wound. Later the ghazi had success isolating thanks the E-marat Eudoro.

    My last turn was about to kill Eudoro, but I couldn't, with the Namur shooting, the face to face with the smoke went in favour of my rival. I choose to ignore Eudoro and go for Scylla, I wasn't particulary lucky triying to do this, because Scylla survived and the Namur was wounde. I showed my face against Atalanta on the top of a roof, he choosed to shoot so I choosed to place the e-marat. The Namur died but Atalanta wasn't isolated. This break my concentration and forget about the "face to face roll" when the enemy tried to take the central antenae... he was capable of put Machaon (his Lt) in contact with the central antenae and activated. That was my total defeat.

    After this Tournament I change my mind about vainilla haquisslam. The main reason to play it I think is the possibility of mix a lot of troups of the sectorials. Namur + Azrail + Djambazan + Fiday are a really good combination.

    What we can't do is to play the old haquisslam list, because we will run out of orders really fast, but if we focus in the new things... I believe we can put competitive lists in play. And, to finish this... Don't forget about the ghazi, they are still a really good profile. I was capable of maintain some board "control" because none of my rivals wants to be hit by an e/marat if they can avoid it. The thing about the ghazi is that now we can choose what we want to do whit them while we do the lists, they aren't anymore that terrible multitool. What it is a true multitool is the Namur. It isn't a "first" turn strike profile, in my opinion, but a second one. It can push buttons, kill people... Even fight in CC a little.

    Thanks... I clicked too quickly the "Create New Topic" button. I hope I didn't too many gramma mistakes and you can read it well enough. I found my self writting "iniciative" instead "initiative" :P Mixing a little spanish with english :P So, it could be others hidden over there.
