If you check in ARMY and such you'll see that units that are Hackable, including HI, have the Hackable trait attached to the profile. Minutemen for instance are HI, an do not have an Unhackable trait, they just don't have Hackable. See the example with Minutemen and a Blackjack below. So while CB may think of Hackable as a trait built into HI, in reality it's a trait that is by default attached to HI rather than built into HI.

Ah sorry for the delay, discussing point values is permissible to a (really) limited extend, and I do mean really limited extend.

Discussing the points formula, trying to reverse engineer it and actively trying to dissect it is indeed against the forum rules and has been since first edition of the game.

And no there will be no discussion about why and why not, it has happened before and the answer is this is what the company wants.

So to clarify threads such as these are actually against forum rules?

Patently ridiculous approach. The discussion will still happen elsewhere anyway xD

I wonder, does CB have something to hide? Do they really believe people will not find out that some units are on the formula and some aren't? That there are "discounts" and "nerfs"?

    Seriously.

It is right on the edge of been not permitted, more to the not permitted than to the permitted.

I think I was quite clear on what I said, I am not going to repeat it and not going to entertain the discussion about it any further, there is nothing positive to be gained by this behavior and I do suggest you stop it.

All you need to know is that yes, there is a formula, all models are done with the same formula and that while minor discussion about points is allowed on the forums, discussing the formula in depth, trying to dissect it, or reverse engineer it is prohibited.

And this way, people what want to know the formula for innocent (non-bitching) reasons can't find it.

IE, my longstanding project to make "Grimfinity" - a ruleset to let people use their 40k models for Infinity.

Yep. Foot, this is the shotgun. Shotgun, this is the foot. Blammo.

If you ever manage to do it, please share. I'd play the heck out of that. I've previously done "Bolter Action" for staggered initiative and simplicity under oppressive USRs in older 40k editions. Playing "kill teams" of 40k stuff with similar mechanics to N4 would be awesome.

You have drifted well off topic, you will now stop, and allow the people interested in the thread to continue the discussion, you may continue to discuss if you want but only on topic.

So we can't discuss the formula "in depth" and we also can't discuss on why we can't discuss the formula?

Do you even realize how ridiculous this is?

Lol, I wanted to do exactly that with the exact same name - assuming thats 40k Bolt Action? A transitionary ruleset would bring exposure to infinity to so many players. Had a clumsy system set up for N3 but now its all up in the air.

Yep, 40k with very basic Bolt Action rules. It was awesome, especially with Guard and Stormtroopers, Bolt Action's regular and veteran infantry, as the yardstick.

You have a simple instruction I am sure you can follow it, and the obvious and simple reason why discussing about why you cannot discuss the formula is discouraged is because CB said, what I have repeated more times than I should (discussing the formula in depth, trying to dissect it, or reverse engineer it), is prohibited and this is in effect from the very first forum, whatever arguments you may do have already been done, years ago, and the answer is no, so wasting time and energy in trying to discuss about it is counter productive.

If you really feel obliged to do so go to off topic open a thread, the answer is still no, please stop cluttering this thread about something that is not on topic.

If it goes further I will clean the thread.

IIRC it was a personal request from Gutier not to pick apart his formula on CB's own forums, seems like an easy enough request to follow.

I think that with the change from N3 to N4 Medium infantry lost their identity.
At the moment a MI is just a LI with better equipment. The high point cost of MI combined with the single wound doesn't match the weakness HI have to be hackable. I think MI can have their niche and that should be mobility. Having HI level gear, be more fragile, but be faster to be on the objective/point. So things like Mov 6-2 , climbing+, FD, Tactical awarness ect.

I liked the Forward Deployment they got during the transitional period. I mostly liked it as it made LI/MI mixed link team easier to deploy as the MI element could start further up.

Dunno if "medium" says "fast" in the way that "light" does... And I'm not sure I'd be on board with MI being even more exactly like heavy infantry (and obviously same price but without the drawback... Of course)

Thing is, for medium infantry to be more fragile than heavy infantry, heavy infantry needs to be less fragile. Currently, the line is kinda... Blurry... With all these NWI MI.

What MI was for me when I started playing in early N3 was a light infantry (typically ARM 2 rather than current ARM 3, but all this may be rose tinted goggles or the fact that Yu Jing MI are lightly armoured), but with access to special gear that LI didn't have.

I think the way CB likes to cheat their own system they kinda need to make systemic anti-cheats. Like have HI automatically get free bonuses to counter their inherent hacking vulnerability.

I think that without any drawbacks, there is no reason to have MI have specific bonuses. As it is they are LI, so why not just start calling them LI?

MI should be about specialized equipment. The problem is that the way CB does costs the equipment doesn't scale with the platform. So an MSV2 + big gun will be a hell of a lot better on a standard HI platform than a standard MI platform for a few extra points.

Even with the toys the way price scaling works (or doesn't) for equipment quickly sees diminishing returns. A great example being the Druze Shock Trooper. Cheapest profile is 23pts for a TON of skills and gear. They cost a fortune for a one wound non-gunfighter non-skirmisher non-specialist model.

I was about to ask what MI in Yu Jing then I double checked. Why the fuck even are Lei Gong, Jing, and Adil MI? Especially Lei Gong he's supposed to be super speedy.

Then there's the Daoying which are pretty blatant in the fact that they started their conceptual life as HI, and somewhere along the design process got downgraded to actual 1 wound MI so they were cheaper.
